[US AND THEM] Us - And them - And after all we’re only ordinary men - Me - And you - God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do - Forward he cried from the rear - And the front rank died - The general sat, and the lines on the map - Moved from side to side - Black - And blue - And who knows which is which and who is who - Up - And down - And in the end it’s only round and round and round - Haven’t you heard, it’s a battle of words - The poster bearer cried - Listen son, said the man with the gun - There’s room for you inside - Down - And out - It can’t be helped but there’s a lot of it about - With - Without - And who’ll deny it’s what the fighting’s all about - Out of the way - It’s a busy day - And I’ve got things on my mind - For want of the price - Of tea and a slice - The old man died - Hudba
Just fascinating, it conveys realities that are the same since 50 years ago, there still us, and them, absolutely an atmospheric masterpiece❤
No comparison with the original
David Gilmour's guitar and voice
Richard Wright's keyboards
Gilmour is at the heart of Pink Floyd whatever Waters thinks
@@christophermartinez9458 the heart of pink floyd is the lyrics, its whats different about the floyd, music is subjective but lyrics like
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And '' with, without and who'll deny its what the fighting all about''
Are just great and you cant deny it, its not like roger only wrote the lyrics and then he said ''Alright david and rick go write all the chord proggressions, the basslines, the solos and do the rest'', we don't know who wrote which part of wich song but we know for sure that david wrote the solos, roger the lyrics, nick the drums and rick the keyboards.
Such a beautiful and calm version, gives a totally different feel. Thank you Roger ❤️
I think this would work well in a film.
❤
Soooo relaxing, just what the world needs now ❤
relaxing? Jesus.
@@keep_walking_on_grassfor those, who are healthy enough and able to relax, of course.
So the original is not that?!!!
The atmosphere fits the album so well. The perspective from a man in his 80s as opposed to his younger self, and shows that everything is still just as relevant as it was 50 years ago. Enjoyed it
I love it. So chill and understated. Can't wait to listen to the album all the way through.... ❤
it's chilling to see people understand it too
Excellent comment👌👍👏

And it's a reminder of how we, same as Roger, have seen years (and decades) pass and yet we are still here to both recollect as well as to keep looking forward.
Roger's new album here offers great relevance and value to those who can relate with it all.
This song has always been simple, yet profound. Genious actually.
Why am I not surprised that the sort of person who thinks this is "genius" can't spell it.
It was Rick Wright that wrote the music, which was actually based on a Miles Davis chord progression.
Btw, Water's vocals suck compared to the original version.
I fall in love with country music since I heard his songs, sorry for invading your privacy, am Kate Merez. Are you a lover of country music too?
The original, the instrumental created by Richard before DSOTM, is still a favorite of mine. Later, when the backing vocals added "ahhhhhh, ahhhh" after each verse, my heart melted even more.
This, like many retrospective types of re-makes, speaks more volumes in its bare-bones simplicity.
"Give 'em a quick, short, sharp shock and they'll never do it again. Dig it?" 😊
I like Pink Floyd and I have been a fan for more than 50 years, but when I hear this version of Roger, my skin crawls because of the beauty of these musical passages. A big hug to my great friend and composer Roger.
Roger never composed “Us and Them” it was Richard Wright!
@@maximearrujo1266Sorry...it's just a greeting to my friend Roger, who has nothing to do with your comment. Furthermore, I believe that the song is composed by the two artists. Greetings friend.😉

Roger Waters did beautiful songs. For the ages. Thank you
Love all the album. Great work Roger.very necessary for days as difficult and complex as the ones we all live through.
I have listened to this four times now and each time I get a deeper appreciation for this man's generosity of spirit. To think he would dare to ..... .......
And then succeed! ❤
Yeah it's shit.
Received my BLUE vinyl copy this morning at 7.01am. Thank you Royal Mail!
Wow, that sounds awesome. Enjoy! 🎵
Take it to the second hand shop. It will be joined by many more.

With each new song, the point of this album comes further into focus... We've been listening to these words for 50 years, but listen again properly and you'll find they're even more devastating now than they ever were.
Brilliant reinterpretation...the strings are killing it in a good way, like having george martin orchestrating DSOTM. Nothing but love, Roger❤❤❤
I had the same thought re George Martin when listening to this Álbum today. Ironically, the original DSOTM was recorded at EMI Studios, which was later officially named Abbey Road.
No, the strings are like Jeff Lynne. Learn to know the difference.
Can't believe I'm catching this live. 🎉
it was just the live premiere release thats all
As much as most are saying this doesnt hold a torch to the original, i am really enjoying all of this homage to what is possibly the greatest peice of music ever written. Thankyou pink floyd through all the ages. The world is a better and more reflective and compassionate place for you giving us so many gifts .
Us And them to me was always the most important track on dark side, and this version defiantly still lives up to that for me
This is a very important day....50 years ago the world was stunned when DSOTM was released .
I was 20 years old back in 1973 -
The perfect age to comprehend what was happening . The album changed music forever and is still relevant today.
Now after all this time we have a new take for the 21st century.
How to describe what Roger Waters has done ? ...
Some have argued that this classic album should have been left alone , leave it as it was, after all it was perfect the first time around wasn't it ?.
Well yes and no ...
Times are different , so much water has flowed under that bridge since those halcyon times. The question for me is could we revisit something as powerful as DSOTM and find new meaning , could we look again at the content and find different ways of expressing the core values of this masterpiece ? ...
I think yes and he's been able to find hidden depth's within these grooves. Toning down the drama and flowing concept of the original album has worked making the listener become more 'involved ' with the record .
REDUX is a highly personal re-working by RW and by being less dramatic makes this new version more fitting for these troubled times ...
For me this version of DSOTM fits very well in the current 'Zeitgeist' and 'could' in turn make the whole piece become more powerful in a much more subtle way ( and I did say could !) ...
Best advice for that first time listen ...
'Dark room . candle burning , headphones on and become one with this new version , got a feeling this could be a game changer ... ! Just brilliant in every way -
Rog you've done us pround and if the new Stones album is as good as the two tracks I've heard so far then the old dudes still rule big style ...( we'll never see their like ever again eh so make the best of it right now )
Roger being Roger. Perfect. incredible.✨
Incredibly shitty
Mr. Waters,
Thank you for you masterpieces!
So cozy and warm right in our hearts. Long live!
I think I stopped breathing for a second❤❤
This brings me lots of hope, and peace for everything happening today. A softly spoken magic spell for a brighter future.
You think Putin is nodding along ?.
I nodded off.
@@robslevin7555 He probably isn't, but I hope so. The guy's gotta relax every now and then, and I imagine that he listens to music like the rest of humanity does. He's a terrible person, but he's still human, and hopefully if he listens to Pink Floyd he'll find more humanity in the songs like the rest of us.
Also, the full album is worth a listen. It's not the original, but it's unique, and I can confirm that being innebriated and cranking the volume up makes a difference. It's like a dark Dr. Suess album.
@@senorspicyboi I agree with the sentiment completely. Well said . Not too sure the F**Ker is human though. 😆👍
Got the album first thing this morning 🙋🏻♂️I always wondered how it felt to listen to this album for the fist time back then. (Because I was too young to experience it) Now I know ❤
It was awesome. One of my first two albums.
This is like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa, just leave perfection alone
No, this is like painting a moustache on a replica of the Mona Lisa, while the original Mona Lisa is still there for everyone to see.
This song is too beautiful to be of this world. Always. In every version. Including this.
❤
Love it! Can't wait to hear it live at the London Palladium Monday :)
Wow! How lucky. Wishing you the best. Enjoy on behalf of all of us, the unfortunate born in unfortunate pathetic poor countries, ruled by pathetic corrupt narcissistic dictators. We will never watch anything like this, 👀 😢 not in a million years.

If you stand close enough to the Stage you can smell his farts!!!!!!
40 years listening the original, I love this.
I wish you could see how many times I hit the "thumbs down" next to your comment. This is absolute trash.
The saddest thing is that Roger's lyrics here are still relevant 50 years later...After half a century, humanity is still divided into ''us'' and ''them'' and probably will be for centuries to come...
@@user-ey6vk5gu4o Yes, I was not talking just about war in that comment. You're absolutely right!
Sublime. Brilliant version.
Absolutely!
Lean, clean and very refreshing offering of classic material. Refreshing indeed.
I love it, beautifully recaptured and given a fresh perspective. I do hope that some of the younger viewers hearing this for the first time are also taught to think about physics.
I’m 17 and as a new listener of pink Floyd and listened to all of ur albums this redux I find so extraordinary to listen to I love how calm and chill it is compared to the original I also love how it tells more of a story I love this redux
That’s awesome my dude, keep on listening ! 🤘🏼
I love that! I'm 55 and I've been listening all my life ...enjoy friend. 🕊️❤️🎶
I DIDNT know that genre of elderly music was kickin up in the music scene !!!! Roger Waters a man that never knew freedom has encased himself in a cave rather than blocked by a wall😂
I have now listened to the entire DSOM Redux version and as a whole it works perfectly. Like many others, I was disappointed when I'd first heard the new Money but after hearing the Time version I begun to look forward to listening to the whole album.
Having now listened to the redux in its entirety, I must say I really like it. It really does work and I can clearly see why Roger wanted to do it.
Well done Roger! 👏
A reworking can add a new, worthwhile perspective.
A hearty THANK YOU from someone who instantly fell in love with Money and the rest ... YAY!!!
It is badass. In it's own way, not trying to better than the original. I love it now.
Yeah, that is the thing about his sound. It only grows more profound with more listen. He never wastes even a second of space. Mr. Perfection, my daddyo.
Love it. surprised at how much.
I attended the 'IS NOT A DRILL' show in my hometown, Belo Horizonte, at the Mineirão stadium. It was an emotional performance that led us to deep reflection. The political facts and maneuvers we already know from the global political class. Everything was perfect in the show. I was moved by the stories told by Roger that involved Sid Barrett. Julian Assange is present in all our hearts and minds. Physical freedom has not yet come, but the freedom of the soul, he not only possesses but also contributes immensely to our freedom of thought.
The world is on a shite moment, we need art to live it and survive. Thanks for this, thanks for all Mr. Roger Waters.
Is beautiful and relaxing very good music and atmosphere ❤❤
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant
I expect no less.

Thank you for this Roger Waters. I am 14 years old and you are my hero!
My brother got me Dark Side on my 14th birthday. I'll never forget the feeling that I discovered something so unique and special. That was 45 years ago! Pink Floyd has been coursing through my veins ever since. Every album holds a different meaning and evokes different, wonderful emotions. I hope you discover Roger's solo albums as well. He carries the unique DNA that drew me to this music in the first place. I hope the music serves you well throughout your life as it has mine.
Peace!
This could be my favourite from this Redux album, superbulous version. So hyped for Monday night London Palladium.

Incomparable experience. Excellent version of this real fighter for Human Rights and Social Justice. Already waiting for Roger‘s second farewell tour.
а ведь одна из лучших композиций на альбоме, с года понимаешь, так же и с "Animals", понял с годами что, "Sheep" это лучшая композиция на альбоме по всем аспектам... Браво Roger! Браво ...
Interesting version, I also like the sound of Theremin Vox in this song. I love both versions of the album! Great job Roger! Thank you very much!
I love the bits where there is silence.
My copy arrived today. I absolutely love where the music takes me. Its like spending time with an old friend. Time has caught up with our friend and although still familiar to us we see the wrinkles, he’s hunched over and moves slower. We sing the old songs together with raspy voices and a lifetime of experiences.
Yes yes yes my dear old friend.

A pleasure this version after 50 years !

I love it. Amazing contrast from the original. So glad you’ve done a redux
Dont touch the classics
@@gerardoa9179 the original will alway be just that. Will always be the classic/masterpiece that it always has been. Nothings been touched. It will always be there. This is from a point of view 50 years later. Almost like a full circle.
I hate to break it to you... But life ain't a circle
@@robslevin7555 It is. You begin and end by shitting yourself.
😂 oh no
DSOTM was built around the melodic "Us and Them" thanks to Rick Wright. He must be turning in his grave at this effort by Waters to re-invent it.
The atmosphere of the original record has been saved without a change.
That's why I love it the most ❤
It is one of the most beautiful lyrics ❤
Interesting how the original Dark Side cover depicted a full-spectrum rainbow, but lately Roger has been sharing videos in black and white with touches of red. I wonder about the symbolism -- is it a metaphor for aging?
That's a pretty unique detail to catch. Something tells me it's just a filter/aesthetic on the videos, but that metaphor really does makes sense.
no it represents boring and bland
jk, I'm just being petty
I had no idea Leonard Cohen made a version of Dark Side of the Moon. I'm always the last to know.

В этом исполнении чувствуется вся глубина прожитых лет спасибо огромное Роджер дай бог тебе здоровья.
Timeless art totally relevant to any time including right now
Just got to admit & admire Rodger. He is without Doubt the greatest lyricist in the game. I just love the emotion that u here he’s created into another masterpiece created from another masterpiece. It’s very different but still awesome in every way. We love this man: ✌️✊✌️: 🐖
Excélente!!! Esto supera los sentidos, gracias gracias, Roger. Siento tanta emoción. Solo para entendidos.❤🤗
Musical genius.
LOVE IT❤
I really like what Roger is producing. I saw him last time in Frankfurt and it was so annoying how some people try to politically hijack his content towards antisemitic things. This is absurd.
Sure, I totally understand some old PF-Fans don´t like Rogers recent stuff. That´s okay. But why the hell are they so aggressive? They could easily say "I don´t like it" which is a completely different term then "This is bad".
Music created by one of the most important members of PF is certainly not "bad". It´s your taste or it isn´t, but it´s not "bad". And for my opinion: It´s great and I love it!
Indeed!
Wonderful...As special now as then...then ...then...👍
Just listened to the album all the way through without interruption. I love the sonics and atmosphere, similar to the stuff he did during the Covid shutdown. It's overall tone is one of acceptance and resignation, not sadness. This, despite the very slow beat. This took chutzpah to rerecord DSOTM, and the result may not please the superficial Floyd fans who stopped listening to new music in 1989....But music lovers who are open to new things will, I think, find this new album mesmerizing. JMHO. ❤
Absolutely astounding. Thank you so much for all that you do!
So the original would never have been a success. The original simply cannot be surpassed.
This version is appropriate to our stage of life now ,as the original was to 29 year olds of the original 50 years ago. How sad it is Rick and Syd are not here to hear.
Southern California now, Back in the day East Anglia@rogerwaters.
Thank you Roger! This beautiful!
So the question I have is, this thing is great and whatever, but in which case would I chose to listen to this as opposed to the original DSOTM?
1:10
It's so bad that I can't even believe it's actually the guy that played bass and wrote lyrics for Pink Floyd in the 70s
Hey you should look a band called The Doublejumps if you like Pink Floyd
The truth is that many of the bass parts were played by David Gilmour - Roger "PIG" Waters couldn't them get wright.
I as a kid of ten years old when your brick in the wall came out had such an impact i haven't stopped listening to your amazing music so glad i found this channel 🙏🤗❤️

@@angelo568 I agree!
Money, was released first I think, a version that make me want to go to sleep!
In general, I think this is a nice album if you want to go to sleep without being «scared» by dynamic songs.
Super, I love this change , it is like leaving the past and living in the present.
6:42 - sure I'm pedantic but I always loved, on the original and every live version I've ever heard, the lyric "without" is the only one without an echo
I always found that very clever and charming and reminiscent of the track echoes & Floyd's past and the fact that those repeating delays on the end words in the lyrics we're not there to fake some kind of cave or something and that "without" is sorta diminished by being without it's expected echo reinforced the meaning behind the lyric
I'm afraid it changes the feel of this song -for me at least...
Love the video though!
At last someone speaking the truth
To be honest the album gets boring half way through.
I find it really weird peoples comments on here saying he’s bettered the original?????
For me some things are best left alone
@@terryhall7697 you can't better perfection any more than you can polish a turd

The music is arranged to accommodate Water's age and almost non-existent singing voice. This a a great retirement home edition.
Just listened to the complete Redux of Dark Side of the Moon - its without a doubt an amazing listen! Top work Mr. Waters!
Seeing this video today took me way back to when I first expierenced DSOTM REDUX in its entirety, which was yesterday. I had to keep opening my eyes to watch as I just drifted away in the melody. It’s true. After last nights bong vs vape compairson(they both won), I popped in the ear buds and let Roger have full control of my mind. I must say he did me well as he always does. Oh it was the first time in my life I listened to a new album and already knew all the lyrics.
Somehow relevant and somehow still missing most of the things that made the original one of the best works of art ever made.
I love roger and he has every right to make a redux but it still feels so, well, thin.
