    Another great one to listen to is Voctave. They're more choral in structure, but the most technically perfect group I've ever heard

    This group started back in 1997 in high school as 4:2:5 (4 two 5) and became VoicePlay. They are in Orlando/Winter Park, most members over the years have worked Disney and/or Universal where they picked up the theatricality they are known for. In 2013, they were in the Sing-Off (you can find some of what they did on VoicePlay's list) and on the Sing-Off tour for 2 seasons. Geoff and Layne do nearly all of the arranging, taking turns in getting the video ready for the final audio, Ed Boyles, best in the business. Eli (high rock tenor) has done a couple of arrangements and handles most of the video backgrounds, and lighting. Geoff has a couple of videos on "How To Sing Really Low"

    This group is out of Orlando FL. VoicePlay with a slightly different set of singers competed on the Sing-off a couple seasons after PTX won. (The year Home Free won). VoicePlay does a lot of theatrical videos and other covers. They recently did “Man in the Mirror” and “You’re My Best Friend”. Thanks for your reaction

    Loved your reaction, thanks. liked and subscribed. Geoff Castellucci is the bass - if you want to hear deep, listen to him on his own channel doing the old Tennessee Ernie Ford classic, "16 Tons." The beatbox is Layne, the older man with the crazy tenor is Eli Jacobson (pronounced Elly). They are the three main members, and they routinely bring in others as guests. J. None was with them for 3 years, but he left this spring to join the navy. Last summer they lost a founding member, Earle, - you'll see him and his insane high tenor on lots of performances. (btw, Eli, the tenor? When Geoff is singing the lead line Eli sometimes backs him up on bass. They all have crazy ranges and amazing talent.) Please react to more! Try Warriors .... it's excellent.

  • @bjspeck4337
    @bjspeck4337 Před 2 lety +1

    I like your intro. That young black guy is Cesar de la Rosa and is from Puerto Rico so he is bilingual. The 3 older guys are Geoff (Jeff) the bass, Layne the beatboxer. Both of these have been together since middle school. The bald guy, Eli (jelly) was at a different school and competed at competitions. After school, he was in a rock/metal band until he joined VoicePlay a decade or two ago. Their 5th member, J None just was recruited into the US Navy for his vocal talents. He says he will be back and has come back when on leave and did the lead part in Friends on the Other Side. But until he makes the Navy a career, or comes back, VP has featured artists like Adriana Arellano, who is the teen daughter of one of the group's friends. It doesn't matter who they bring in for the 5th slot, VoicePlay makes it all work. Layne and Geoff alternate on doing the arranging, staging, costuming, video/camera work, and pre-mix audio. That then goes to Ed Boyer who does final audio for most of the serious musicians. About 1 % of the time VP may outsource the arranging but as a rule whoever is arranging for the song, does all the rest too. The next time the other one does it. They all are incredibly versatile and ablel to almost anything. Eli has taken over lighting and video backgrounds as seen in My Mother Told Me as well as green screens. This was the first time Cesar sang with VP, did a few more with them and was picked up as a new member when one of the originals left to spend time with family.

    Sunshine, these guys put Pentatonix to shame these days. They are, in my opinion, the best Acapella group around... their bass singer, Geoff, in particular. He's even got his own solo channel. You should go check out his cover of Sixteen Tons or Misty Mountain, but as far as VoicePlay goes, you should look at their cover of Oogie Boogie song. Though, sadly, that one has two members in it that are no longer with the group - one who left a bit over a year ago, and one who left very recently, hence why this one is featuring two singers, since they still haven't replaced the one who left last year.

    Recommended: Queen in 5 Minutes, Friends on the Other Side, Halo, Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, My Mother Told Me, Hoist the Colours, Little Mermaid, Tennessee Whiskey, Daddy Sang Bass, Oogie Boogie's Song (will show you Geoff's range high to low - 5 octaves), Warriors, Dream On, Wicked, and anything else you run across - they have over 170 songs to pick from not counting the solos that Geoff does, like Monster Mash, Blackbird, High and Dry, Ain't No Sunshine, Way Down plus more. The older guys have been in Orlando for years, and worked for Disney and Universal which is where they got all the theatre skills. They are the theatre nerds of the acapella world and do it so well. About 8 years ago they were on Sing-Off season 4 when Home Free and Pentatonix were also on. They did a great one with Play that Funky Music White Boy, one of my favorites is Road Trip. If you enjoyed this, you will all the rest that they do.

    VoicePlay is from Florida. They worked at Disney World for a while. Voctave is also based out of Florida and I believe many of their members still work at Disney World (I could be wrong about that, though because of covid). I'll second all of candice972's requests and add some of my own for VoicePlay: "the bones" feat. Emoni Wilkins, "queen in 5 minutes," "boy bands in 5 minutes," "frozen 2 medley" feat. Adrianna when she was just 15, "friends on the other side" feat. J-None (formerly part of the group but left for the Navy I believe it was, but will return once his service is up), "the heart of life" (first one they did after Earl, the really high tenor in "bridge over troubled waters" you reacted to, left), and so many others. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their songs
