As children, most of us wanted to be the Jedi. Growing up, we realize that they had flaws and could be better.
I never wanted to be a jedi or sith as a kid in the 90s. I wanted to be the kind of force-user Jerec from Dark Forces was, a powerful dark jedi who was a close second to Palpatine, coveting all forbidden knowledge and aiming for transcendence to literal godhood by utilizing the Valley of the Jedi.
I still would want to become a Jedi because the Sith seems like a pain in the ass.
Do you think of religion this same way because you should it's all story's someone wrote done.
Nope always wanted to be a Sith. Their powers were way cooler
I just want to study the force and live my life lol
Mandalore the Ultimate: Who the hell are you?
Revan: I am Revan and this is MY GALAXY!
Yeah in their fear of the sith returning they inadvertently insure their return within their own ranks
Geetsly: This is Revan!
Me: Geetsly, this is the 5th time you've shown Revan this year.
And I'm here for it.
"Their vaunted wisdom bred only inaction. And that would've led to destruction far greater than anything born of the darkside". - Malak.
Where does Malak say that?
@@chrishilton3626 in KOTOR 2, the first vision in the tomb of Ludo Kresh on Korriban.
Here comes the dilemma of being a Jedi in a galactic wide conflict, does being a peacekeeper means to be unresponsive to the conflict while many will die, or does that means that they should intervene and end those wars even if it means that many could fall.
Could always try for peaceful negotiations, not that the mandalorians would be receptive to that. But notice not once did any Jedi, Revan nor Council, try for diplomacy or a peace treaty
@@lawrencetalbot8346 or do the classic we challenge manadalor to a duel for complete control accepted or you are a wussy.... Always works on Mandalorians
The most practical form of peacekeeping would be to be more active in society to help those you supposedly serve, as well as to squash any potential problems before they become one.
Unfortunately for the Jedi, that would mean that they would be "no better than the Sith" - not that it stopped them from doing genocide in an attempt to destroy the Sith for good before they could become an issue again.
It's really not a conflict if the force and compassion for others guides you to get involved then get involved... like Luke did. Trust in the force.
@@luciuswalker8578 "...not that it stopped them from doing genocide...."
No.
Palpatine: My Galactic Empire is Stronger then all!
Revan: Hold my Beer.
I love how most Sith Lords change their names entirely when they ascend to the title - Dooku becomes Darth Tyranus, Palpatine becomes Darth Sidious, Anakin becomes Darth Vader - but Revan and Malak basically just title themselves "Darth Myself."
On one hand it's funny, but on the other hand it kinda symbolizes their pure intent. Jedi or Sith they had the same mission, which they sought to accomplish in multiple ways.
I'd love to watch a CGI Series about the Rise and Fall of Revan and Malak.
Disney will ruin it
Oh, so most of those who died at Malcor were the less loyal members, I did not know that. All this time because of that fact, as well as what I learned about Mitra Sureck and the one who belt the super weapon that caused all this and how they said it manufacture, I just thought it was an accident what happened at Malcor that led to so many falling, but no it looks like it was deliberate on Revan's part. I knew had fallen, but I didn't think he had fallen that far until after Malcor.
The story of Revan is one of the most compelling narratives in all of Star Wars. Some of the bloodiest wars ever fought, the most pivotal historical events, and some of the deepest insights into the Sith, Jedi, and both sides of the Force.
I rather be a Jedi rather than a Sith because the dark side sounds like a pain in the ass.
As a child, I wanted to be a Jedi, as a teen, I wanted to be Sith, now I want to be a Revanite
One of the *best* moments in KotOR 2 was the argument with Atris about the Mandalorian Wars. It literally interrupts her for you to respond, as if you already know what her argument is...
Because you do. The Exile has known this argument inside and out after probably having it six times daily with Atris *before* going off to war. And Atris hadn't learned a single thing since then.
Your timing with this series is impeccable. I just finished a LS consular playthrough, had been years since I played KOTOR
The consular build ended up being OP as fuck. Not sure if I want to play through again as DS guardian or just move on to TSL yet
Kotor 2 is a absolute blast
More Old Republic let’s go!
It would be awesome to see the Mandalorian Wars as a Clone Wars style TV series. But Disney isn't willing or able to do it.
They did just recently reintroduced the Old Republic era into the canon timeline. There's no movies or shows announced for it yet. But maybe Lucasfilm animation could do one after The Bad Batch.
@@jamiewalsh3349---I would like to see that. But I can't help but feel that Disney might screw it up.
The huge difference between Revans 'fall' and any other Jedi's is that Revan had a clear goal in mind - to save the republic. Revan knew that when vitiates true sith returned, even he could not win, the republic WOULD fall and the jedi would be turned to sith, but he had an idea - what if he could turn the jedi to HIS cause? A fallen jedi cannot fall again, so when vitiate finally attacked he would not be facing a weak, failing republic, but a battle hardened army of dark jedi loyal to Revan.
Revan used this, he used the dark side in a way nobody else ever had. He is the only person in galactic history to willingly fall to the dark side without being consumed by it. He was always tyring to save the republic, just doing so in the only way he knew how.
The one time where going LEEROY JENKINS would've actually saved the Jedi Order and the galaxy a lot of grief.
It's literally as simple as...Hey you Mando Leader wanna Duel? Kill him and boom you're their leader now order them not to be cunts.
Revan and Malak arrive at the Trayus Academy:
Revan: "Tell your master we have been charged by the Dark Side with a sacred quest. If he will give us food and shelter for the night, he can join us in our quest for the Star Forge."
Sith Lord "Well i'll ask him but I don't think he'll be very keen. He's already got one you see?"
Revan: "What?"
Malak: "He says they already got one?"
Revan: "ARE YOU SURE HE'S GOT ONE?"
Sith Lord: "Are yes it's very nice." (Whispers to other Sith Lords) "I told him we already got one! (Snickers)"
Before falling to the dark side, Malak was Alek. You’re calling him Malak when he was still Alek
Eh
don't dead name him 😂
i always like this series with REVEAN MY PERSONAL FAV OF SITH
I still think the morbid existence of Vodo-Siosk Baas and the saving of the Daragons are the biggest Jedi mistakes.
Also, in a meta perspective, the very existence of the TOR MMO, even including how it permanently damaged the quality of Mass Effect 3.
Okay, what does Star Wars the old republic MMO com in to damaging the quality of mass effect, three
@@chrishilton3626 For one big example, Drew Karpyshyn, one of the main storytelling powerhouses of the first two ME games, left for SW: TOR while ME3 was in development, which then lead to Mac Davis, a somewhat dodgy writer, taking most of the helm for that game... which, all things considered, led to a bunch of avoidable flaws like those controversial endings and a loss of some hyped up elements like the rachni fighting the Reapers in the open.
@@michaelandreipalon359 oh ok I wondered why his name wasn’t in the credits of Mass Effect three and I think you are right about those stupid choices, but it could’ve been worse
@@chrishilton3626 Could've been better, too.
A new Geetsly video is always a welcome surprise :D
We need Sith history on the magnificence of the Senate.
Love this channel and the video essays they post but I feel like we keep getting the same stories just from different POVs.
Ah yes, Revan and Malak returned only a few hours after going into the unknown regions
During the beginning of this his name was Alec not Malak. It wasnt until later on that he changed his name
What I don't fully understand is how Kreia fits into all of this, she was Revan's master yet we barely know what she was up to at the time
The Jedi constantly causing problems for themselves currently & down the line for the future
The Jedi didn't cause this problem. This problem was caused solely by the Revanites' inability to exercise patience and wisdom.
Great episode, good work.
First there was an ulic and exar then a revan and malak
Revan is easily the best Star Wars character to me. His story is like an epic on a massive scale. He's so amazing.
The tales of the jedi series has potential to include old republic jedi if it gets more seasons past the second one, the second season has already been confirmed, but it hasn't been announced which jedi will appear.
You want Dave filoni to destroy KOTOR lore? He is going to make it all about ashoka
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 how can he make it all about ahsoka when she hadn't even been born yet?
And who says it has to be done by dave someone else capable enough and understanding enough of kotor lore could write it.
@@CloneScavengerVulpin8389 nobody at Lucasfilm right now knows and understands the KOTOR lore all they care about is self inserting social justice activits propaganda
I know that this video is about how Revan and Malak become Darth Revan and Darth Malak. But I cannot helped but feeling that the actions of the Neo-Crusaders were the reason why the Republic and the Jedi launched the campaign that will eventually become known as the Mandalorian Excision thousands of years later on. The Republic feared of another round of rampage by the Mandalorians and the Jedi feared that the Mandalorians might be manipulated by Bane's Sith to go to war with them again. So they launched a pre-emptive strike and installed the government loyal to the Republic to prevent this from happening instead. Am I correct with this hypothesis? I know that it is just a hypothesis but the evidences are quite strong here.
Hmm, but Jedi had no idea of Bane's Sith then.
@@user-yq9im9dk9z Geetsly's told me they did. At least, they heard of Darth Bane's survival and his teachings.
Loving this series so much still
There should be a Mandalore history series after this one
A two-part KOTOR CG/live-action anthology is in order, I think. The first part could be about Revan and Malik winning the Mandolorian Wars and the second, Mitra’s journey, a bit like the games.
hay bro if ur running out of idears perhapes u could do more ledgends storyeis and carektors like han solos adventures or more obscure charktors ,i know i for one would love to see it .thanks for ur consideration my aussie freind
Always love Darth Revan story👍👍
Jedi? Sith? Nah, I want to be a Mandalorian Neocrusader!
Like Anakin during the clone wars, by going to war and becoming the leading generals of the republic fighting against their enemies, with each new battle and more ruthless strategy employed, tin order to win the war, they slowly but surely became the very thing that they swore to destroy, the new lords of the sith.
They had the right "feelings" but the execution was a catastrophe.
Good 👍
Felt like Revan and his followers were better strategists compared most of the Jedi during the Clone Wars
Great video but you forgot Vitiate
I'd contribute a view here but I'm reading the KOTOR comics atm (literally just got them) so I'll come back when I'm finished lol. I don't need to watch to know you made a great video anyways, so, good job!
Towards the end of the video he says that Revan and Malak had to travel around to the different star maps to discover the star forge. But I thought at the end of KOTOR, it showed us that the star maps were intentionally set that way after the infinite empire? Either by Revan and Malak, or by the Jedi council, I can't remember which but wasn't that a thing? Am I misremembering it?
To me, keeping the peace would involve downloading RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS where you can play as over 500 heroes!
No mention of the Sith Emperor on Droman Kas?
Well both of them were right. The inaction did nothing but acting at all did result in their fall to the dark side. It was a no win situation.
Please do a video on cis navy structure like your cis army
👍
2 hours ago to 11 hours ago
I still want them to make a movie about Revan and Keanu Reeves would be perfect to play him but he’s kinda old now and can’t move like he does in John Wick for much longer.
You want Disney to ruin revan?
Revan is a combination of Wolverine, Batman, and Professor X.
I grew up wanting to be a jedi but actuallly the Sith are so much more understanable . LOng LIVE the EMpire
