The only way I can see someone say Tekken is “easy” is because it’s kind of masher friendly and there tends to be a lot of people who mash to get their moves/combos out.
Or they are using certain characters that allow them to get away with some bs.
Even though fighting games as a whole have been watered down over time compared to back in the day, Tekken is far from easy and is one of the more difficult games to be good at.

Tekken was Always the hardest fighting game anyway the problem is not this its about the game rewarding way too much for doing wrong things, reducing that much the rewards of punishes, they Also removed many things we didn't need them to they buffed many things we didn't need them to like the normal backdash and rage arts, they added dumb chip damage, made power crushes stronger too since if it tank something the properties of the move are not the same anymore and it becomes suddenly not punishable
Obviously there's not only that they Also made ranked more easy even tho it was already simple in t7, they simplified execution a lot to the point they made some moves that absolutely needed a cd or d,df input a single button, even if its making it slower inputting like this there's just no reason to do tha
They ''buffed'' steps but you still get hit a lot when you sidestep beacause they only buffed a lot of hitboxes, and there are some chars where its impossible to step
Yesterday i played a few games in red as shaheen a char i dont often play, i met a Lili that just pressed the same button the whole game (3,1) and when i Say he pressed the same button its not a joke like he legit only pressed that and barely moved, Never did anything else, this move i know is at least -13 and probably higher, i just didn't move and kept punishing, the guy did continue, i met a Bryan and a Yoshi that were rulers, and they were just as Bad as this Lili even if they were using more moves, funny to me when those ranks are the ''average'' and ''above average'' lvl

And the fun part is that they dont know how to backdash or punish or sidestep. They dont know some of the important fundementals of tekken to be in Tekken king rank but the easy 50/50 and unga bunga pressure gives them free wins like Alisa chainsaws, azucena's runing 32 and f1+2, devil jins bulshit heat smash and flying stance and deagonovs running 2 and d2.

As someone with a league of legends background I feel like most people take ranks too seriously considering the game just came out a few months ago. Similarly to how ranks don't matter that much in the beginning of a LoL season. Many reach top 200 ranks just because they spammed ridiculous amounts of games at the very start of the season just to drop drastically after a few months. The ranking system can't possibly know everyone's exact skill level in such a short amount of time. People will be matched against others who are way out of their league or below it. This makes it so a lot of people reach a rank that they actually don't deserve. Give it another half a year and the system will adjust way better.

There are 2 concepts people always forget about:
Ranked games (tourneys/casuals as well to an extent) are far easier to climb at the beginning than it is years later down the line; With the flood of new players to T8 there are far more opponents you can "farm" for points in order to rank. Getting a high rank in a fighting game's beginning is far easier than it is than at the end of its lifespan, because only the most dedicated/hardcore players are left by then.
People ALWAYS complain about new mechanics and things "making the game easier". I can personally track this back to the SF Alpha series when people were complaining that air blocking, alpha counters making the game have little to no skill, little did they know that the actual broken mechanics wouldn't be found out until years later like Custom Combos.

I didn't buy this shit game and it's shocking to me how suddenly everyone is saying this game sucks but decided to still buy it. This game does not deserve the high sales and ratings it has. Consumers will just buy shit cause it's new, it's really the players fault for how the game is. I kept saying since the launch of T7, make movement great again like it was in tag 2 or T5-7. The T8 beta was a complete waste of time; they ignored all that feedback. Such a shame.

That's not a fair analysis. So before I start *trigger warning* I'm a legacy player. I'll say by no means am I "good" I'm decent. Def not pro though. But understand that, I come from an era of having to fight your way down all the way to zero energy. Tekken's history is 20+ years of not having any mechanics that, in essence, save the player (Heat mechs & Rage mechs). So, being a legacy player, we are used to not having to deal with this. Imagine you having 3/4 of your energy over me and I have a quarter energy left, then I randomly pull off a RA. Now we both have the same amount of energy and I'm just lucky enough to win by the skin of my teeth? Wouldn't you be angry? Again taking into consideration that you KNOW you're better than me skill-wise? Because again you have 20+ years of the experience of HAVING to FIGHT all the way through to zero. I agree that yes, if a person is as good as they believe, then the person will adapt to new play style, BUT it takes away from years of experience and having to build the skills you once had back up again. I'm saying all this from my own experience. But my grief all was from T7 because the RA was basically a "Super move", which is more of a SF thing. Never had Tekken, until 7, had "super moves". So again, now, it's taking over 20 years of a specific way of thinking, to now, the way of thinking has to change. That's just my take though. At the end of the day, I LOVE this game and I will continue to adapt to whatever the producers of this game decide to incorporate.

It's not just a Tekken problem it's a fighting game problem. As brought up in the video, every new installment makes whatever franchise in question easier.
When I was younger most people never even considered playing fighting games because they were so averse or even afraid of losing and not being able to do much about it. Easy solution for developers to get more sales, lower the skill ceiling so that everyone gets to feel more like a winner.
The only negative is people that do put in the work to learn the game start to see how their efforts aren't enough to make the super tuned up game mechanics meant to assist newbies no longer a problem. I believe the frustration mainly comes from this feeling. The same broken mechanics or characters still feel like the same broken mechanics or characters no matter how good you get at the game because they were designed to be a brainless equalizer. Another problem that comes up is when a good player gets their hands on a tool that is powerful even in the hands of a scrub, that tool becomes busted.
Lastly this approach to game design for fighting games has pretty much homogenized playstyles and characters. Everything is rushdown/50-50 oriented now in almost every new fighting game.

I hate/love the changes, at first I was really on the fence of Heat, but then I came across a Raven who chipped me to death with Heat art spam, and that shit bothers me. Chip damage should NOT be in this game imho. It really dumbs down the game and tbh it makes defense a moot point bc knowledgeable players will chip you in situations where your defense was supposed to pay off. Simply playing Def will get you shit on, and I feel like that's a bad direction in this game where both offense and defense were always supposed to be a balanced mix. Heat specific character changes also bothered me, I played Heihachi for years and now that he's gone and characters get automatic electrics out of Heat, it just makes me feel bad for even taking the time out to learn. On the flipside, it feels great to see many players trying out Mishima chars for their ease of access now, and I appreciate many players just now getting into the game.
Heat also being a damn near "get out of pressure" card kind of irks me too, as you have to be careful the whole time someone has Heat available or else you might get your turn stolen. I used to hate Rage Art for this very reason.
I enjoy Tekken, period, so I am going to play it regardless, and overall I feel like Tekken 8 is a great entry into the series. It's beautiful, from the actual cinematics to the music, to character specific interactions; just an all around dope game. I am happy with almost everything, and to be fair most of my gripes are me doing exactly as you said. Bringing my Tekken 7 play style to a totally different game, when I should be adapting to new changes, mainly the offense centric gameplay and Heat awareness.

I've always been a very defensive player, being rewarded for punishing over extending pressure, or whiff punishment via movement with my occasional heavy pressure. Always was using pressure at the wall ofc. I feel like I'm being punished for having solid fundamentals since kbd is nerfed so hard, and blocking is a fast way to get chipped out or just eat all of the random 5050s. Plus the ch throws, my breaks are solid but ya idk why that is a thing. I'm trying to get into the groove of 8 I have around 300 hours in so far and tbh its been a struggle for me. It's okay to say a game became more accessible, but to say it lacks skill and that anybody not on the same playing field as the pro is immediately disregarded is just not right. (For reference, I was a Tekken God Omega in T7 and TGP with a handful of characters & I made it to God of Destruction on T8 in the first month. Not that I think rank means all that much, but I do get to play high level players frequently.) Tekken 8 has definitely joined the “hand holding” trend for newer players. Players who were previously renown for their defensive prowess are now underperforming. The game is requiring defensive players to completely change their playstyles and players who were already extremely offensive are thriving. I don’t think Tekken 7 had it correct either, eating 30-40% for getting low parried wasn’t reasonable either. But at least in Tekken 7 it felt like your offense had to be more thought out because there was a risk to lows.

Now it's all about going Unga bunga with characters with 5 plus on block moves being spammed and using heat burst and rage anytime your negative.. losing to people who you can see have no skill kills the game. And not enough sets with people to learn to counter them. It's either Unga bunga for 2 rounds or 1 round and leaves the game if you start catching up to thier game

What I HAVE seen to be true is that top players are still prone to say scrub things when they are frustrated. Their complaints come from frustration rather than pulling from the large pool of fighting game knowledge they possess.
I think we can all agree if MenaRD isn't the best SF player in the world he's top 3, and he has already succumbed to frustrated scrub talk. That doesn't make him not the best, it just means sometimes these players can get emotional and their wits get away from them.

There’s a difference between mashing randomly and mashing strategically. If someone isn’t respecting your plus frames, you’re not to blame and until they correct their mistake in game, they’re almost always going to lose as a result. Mashing random strings allows the opportunity to interrupt, duck and punish, etc.. After you pass a certain rank you’re not gonna get away with mashing, doesn’t matter what character you have and how much you do it, eventually you’ll be read like a book and won’t progress any further. This is where character knowledge comes into play.

I actually don't see why certain characters get a 10-frame Heat Smash (Jack8), another a 13-frame full screen hadou ken (Jun) while others have 16-frame heat smashes which can never come out when under pressure. This is not even counting the Heat specialties like Reina's auto high & mid parry while other characters don't even have anything nearly as good. All of these compounded with imbalanced +frame moves like Dragunov. So most of the OP characters have a few things in common - good heat smash, + frame moves, hellsweeps into juggles and good 50-50s. Those who have maybe 3 out of 4 of these things are A-tier. Those who have 1 out of 4 are C-tier.

No infinite rematch is a joke.
People hate on my main Hwoa, but there are literally 10 others characters in the game right now who do the exact same rushdown stuff, and even better and more effective then hwoa does.
Moves that are so fast and hard to telegraph that nothing that happens with some characters makes sense. (Reina, Lars, Raven, Victor, DVJ)
Projectiles being in the game, wich makes spacing irrelevant.
Gaurd breaks at the wall, cause ofcourse lets punish defending even more.
    Chip damage is a joke.
Grabs being tracking, shortened break window, means that everyone needs to be a god at breaking now. And the damage, or oki situations they give or wallsplats are bs.
Oki in this game is completely broken. Way to many moves hit you while grounded, sometimes u cant even get up.

From T1 to T5 and skipped to TTT2 (my last Tekken), I can tell you that us older players rely on concentration because we had a great footies game that was developed over years of honing our concentration.
The rage/heat system does a few things rather disrespectfully:
    1. Demolishes neutral play, forcing a rush type style of fighting.
    2. Destroys concentration via excess cinematics/theatrics.
    3. Interrupts guaranteed blows with armored attacks, which also disrupts concentration.
It's a game that requires concentration to learn how to play/fight but doesn't require it to win matches, which is throwing us concentrators way off.
It's rather insulting because what a LOT of us are losing to are what I call "Armor Carriers", people who whip out Rage/Heat at EVERY opportunity.
Others lost to people who abuse Rage/Heat and immediately transition into juggling, which has needed techniques to break the chains since Tekken 3 dropped.

I remember the tekken 6 law and bob thing, but I disagree that law was harder to play than anything at that point. He's always been brainlessly easy to play, super low risk and high reward. But yeah Bob was the king of brainless back then for sure. So you know he'll be in Tekken 8 as dlc.

i think a lot of people miss the point when a pro says the game is easier or "takes no skill" ... while in previous tekkens certain characters exceled at certain situations, in tekken 8 pretty much everyone can just 50/50 you all the time, and keep you GUESSING and instead of "knowing the matchup" it just becomes a casino game like some people are calling it! I personally dont think its THAT bad... yet... but i can see the issue moving forward... i guess we are just going to have to wait for some patches and see what they do with it

I don't agree with the "some players get carried by some characters, just accept it" mentality. Fighting games should always strive to keep some semblance of balance and there shouldn't be characters that can just cheese out wins.

As someone who likes fighting games but sucks at them, I feel like people who are good sometimes don't realize that it's easy for them, but it's not as easy as they think it is.
And I understand. When you've been good at something for too long you kinda forget how difficult it is for a beginner. I've been trying to learn how to play guitar for months, and only now I can play basic versions of some songs. However, if I were to ask people that are good at guitar, they'd find those songs ridiculously easy.
Back on the topic of games, I understand what it's like to see franchises get easier. The difference between fallout 3 and 4 is huge. But, games need the casual audience as well.
I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a balance between both sides, but if we only consider the perspective of pro players, fighting games will be impossible for beginners.

I’m just feeling like heat is so unbalanced right now and that’s really the only thing bothering me and it has bothered me since launch. Some characters like Raven have these ridiculous robbery rage inducing heat smashes whilst most have some pathetic telegraphed crap. Heat itself is also pretty wack some characters get good tools others just get gimmicks right now with steve I feel like his heat is so underwhelming nobody is really even afraid of anything I can do I just get this telegraphed command grab that the opponent has 2 chances to avoid. With bryan I’m a little happier because I can spam some pretty oppressive stuff when I got someone against the wall and Kazuya is just kind of weak. I thought he was insanely strong because I played him in the demo and compared him to his iteration in 7 but now that every character is out I just feel like he’s alot like Steve occupying the underwhelming category. His new moves are good and I’m not complaining it’s just that when I fight some of these insanely oppressive characters like Dragunov, Azucena, Jun, Nina my characters don’t have offense like that and 75 percent of the round I’m running and blocking because a psychopath with dragunov can just run me down.

Honestly as someone who came from a mk background, and tekken 3… I can kind of see where he’s coming from, for me tekken 8 is a really good game. But I wouldn’t say it’s easy I think there’s a lot of cheap shit in the game that gives newer players “like me” a chance to actually win “such as super moves” which is my personal problem in all fighting games. But you can’t deny that tekken 8 has given a lot of tools to actually learn. So this point does kind of fall on his face

As a beginner, entering tekken and currently self identifying as intermediate. I am absolutely pleased with the game since launch. However, the better I got, the more flaws I see with the game. The more I realize "hey that's not reactable" or "wow, wth am I supposed to do if I don't gain the advantage right away?" I love what the tekken 8 team did that allowed me to enjoy the game but I hope to see some adjustments made. I like the heat system, but some things are far to powerful.

I've played since ttt1, and like you said other than T5, every new Tekken is easier than the last. That being said, I think in Tekken 8 this is worse than I've ever seen it. It's jumped to another level now, the amount of spam in this game, easy access to force mixups etc, it's never been quite like this. Better players will usually still win but I've also watched on CZcams good players struggling more than they should to deal with the new mechanics.
I think namco did this on purpose, it's no accident. They want to bring in more players to make money. I reckon over time, they'll improve things a bit, as they will be caring more about longevity than standing out as a new game. But for now, players will have to deal with it.

Being a long time tekken player myself I have to agree. Tekken 8 definitely don't take skill. Previous tekken which I love for the skill factor and knowledge. Tekken 8 out of all them is a party game. Now it's fun but taken it serious I rate it on a scale from 1 to 10. I will give it a 4.5
