Working as a courier, was about the most dangerous job I did, among many types of work I did. Just going into a mine, of any sort, would cause me to panic. I dedicate this song to every hard working man and woman, "May they live long and prosper!" 🤟😊
This is devo i used to jam with these guys on stine rd penninsula back in the 1970s and also used to put music to bob general boys words also played at brother jimmys wedding at tanjiers in akron ohio oh what memmories great band and very nice people
Haha, man, I've been wanting to watch it lately because I can only vaguely remember it from my early teenage years, but it's pretty much nonexistent online for streaming or downloading. Blows.
My granddaddy went to work in the mines at 12 years old after his father fell down a shaft and lost an arm. Never heard that man bad mouth anyone and never complained about anything.
I feel like a total loser. I pride myself on being an "oldies" expert, and by "oldies" I mean truly "oldies," as in, Lee Dorsey's original version of this song, which is an all-time classic. However, I grew up in the age of MTV and Devo, and I never knew that Devo covered this song. I only heard it TODAY, October 2, 2018, for the first time on Nashville, TN's local independent radio station. Thanks to the station, Lightning 100, for playing it. This version of the song has all the electricity of Devo mixed in with a true tip-of-the-hat to Dorsey's original. I can't stop listening to it; it's almost edible, it's so good. This song came out 37 years ago, and I am just now hearing it! Well, the unexpected surprise just goes to show that this world teems with gems waiting to be upturned. And music to me holds a lot more value and worth than actual gemstones, by the way.
Sent to me by former student ( who graduated 28 years ago) about 2 hours before I go into the first of at least two procedures to fix the aftermath of radiation-induced damage to my body due to prostate cancer radiation treatment. The best argument in the world as to why teachers would be a whole lot more effective if they met each and every student where that kid was at in her or his life each and every day that student walked into the classroom. The curriculum works best when teachers shower what they do with love (without ever letting on that they're loving on their students) and find ways to motivate kids to look forward to the sunrise at the end every dark tunnel. It's all good. I promise.
Devon's rendition of the spoken lyrics are so wry and clever -- the "I AHM SO TAERD" line, and also "How long can this go on?" can almost be interpreted as Devo's knowing that some listeners are wondering, "Had enough! How long can your version of this song go on, Devo?" Typical Devo genius....
This is the best sing of Devo's I reckon also was my uncles favorite song because he was a miner back in 1960's he's dead now though also add me on Snapchat my user name is rockinboii rock on my dudes 🤘🤘🤘
Loretta lynns daddy died from black lung caused by inhaling coal dust. Coal miners get treated like shit by the companies they work for .in both ms. Devo understood that coal miners have to fight daily for a safe & healthy workplace. To hear how miners who make safety complaints today are treated by outlaw coal operators, check out Raymond Crooke's song "Big Coal Don't Like This Man At All" on CZcams. 1293. Big Coal Don't Like This Man At All (Original) - with Marco Acca on guitar It tells the true story of Kentucky coal miner Charles Scott Howard, who stood up for safety at an underground mine operated by Arch Coal and was fired as a result. He filed a whistleblower case, won his job back and is working in the mines again!
Ella xamim, see what u started? U should have just NM apologized, and I would have done the same, BUT NO, U got a NO NOTHING, KNOW IT ALL in this, who does not know how 2 mind their own business. U started this, not me.its up 2 u? Not telejerkoiss.

great story, my father in law was a coal miner in Cumbria UK, as well as my brother in law, until Margaret Thatcher crushed the unions
Both of my grandfathers worked at the mine, my uncle too, and my father was the head of ventilation.

Oh, heck, I meant "Devo's rendition," above. Good lord, can't even edit my own typing. Forgive me, Devo fans!
