- River Treasure hunter dives beneath submerged Tree to save Amazing History!
This week I take my buddy Johnny to one of our locations for him to Dive for lost history. I bring my Garrett Vortex and do a bit of metal detecting while he combs the bottom of the river for lost treasure! We make an epic 120 year old discovery lodged in the silt beneath a submerged tree that fell during a flood from a hurricane!

Why not, Facebook can be interesting to find historical photos of your town if you have like historical societies for your county

The key hole is an escutcheon. A flat piece of metal that protects the key hole.

The greater likelihood of finding snakes, leeches, fish hooks and jagged glass outweighs the temptation to dive for marbles and bottles for me.
The different kinds of content in the last few weeks is awesome. Always something new!

The ornate brass piece your friend found is most likely the oil container from a Bradley and Hubbard oil lamp. About 1850's
Dang that’s much older than the oldest bottle we’ve found here which was circa 1890

PLUS an Elephant !!! 1920's early 30's JUMBO QUALITY SUGAR BEVERAGE Soda Pop Bottle ELEPHANT 7 1/2 OZ ...NOW, I just need to find one with both features combined.

You guys need to probe the mud under those logs there will be heaps of bottles under the mud where they got caught up !
He had a 1ft probe with him. We discovered the bottom was hard pa led clay so most everything is surface finds.

Oh for sure ! I did black water body recovery, cave, wreck etc for years.. they why I said that! He knows what he’s doing

Until you feel absolutely comfortable don't dive in those conditions. I like jumping out of airplanes but agree that it's not for everybody. Lol

That little guy made its way to the trash it acted like a sponge and soaked up too much water haha
