If you have to ask, "Is that Mitch or Kirstie?", the answer is always yes. They change their looks quite often. Kevin is playing the electric cello. When he beatboxes while playing the cello, he calls it cello boxing. I would describe Pentatonix as overachieving perfectionists. They just continue to get better and better. I just do not know how they get better and better. Every time you hear a new song of theirs, you think they have achieved their highest level. The next one they release is better than the last one. How is that even possible? You really need to check their cover of O Holy Night!! BEST VERSION I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!
And they age. 😂😂 People who’ve only listened/watched to their older stuff don’t know that their catalog spans 13 years by this point. They’re all in their 30s now.
@@jcs1025Yep, Matt just celebrated his 30th birthday.
Yeah they really don't change their looks that often but when people bounce around 13 years of performances 6-7 changes seem like more.
PTX is phenomenal! And yes, Kevin can beatbox While playing his cello, he calls it celloboxing. They are the most talented group of people you could meet.
Five words to describe why I love PTX -- Mitch, Scott, Kirsten, Kevin, Matt. Each one is so exceptional individually, and together they are insane!
Treasure! "I wanna hug them" -- exactly, they make music as a team - gives us hope for worldly connections.
PTX is MAGICAL
Yeah, he can beatbox.
He can play cello and electric cello
He can sing...in perfect pitch
And he can play saxophone.
In fact, he has appeared twice at Carnegie Hall, as a teenager. Once on sax and once on cello.
And he does some of the arranging...not all of it, but some.
Not to mention he was accepted into Yale and speaks Cantonese. Probably even more than that. He is a genius and most of all a really good person ☺️
PTX is revolutionary. They embraced acapella, which for years had been cheesy, predictable and stale, turned it on its head, used their innovative creativity and talent to arrange and create incredible songs, and made acapella into a totally new musical genre. They are an enigma.
Mitch has changed his look many times over the years. Kirstie too. You’ll get used to it. Love this song! Kevin is playing an electric cello and he’s an insanely talented beatboxer. They are incredible vocalists and amazing performers who brought acapella to a new level.
PTX - Incomparable!
Two words - exceptionally talented
GOAT
Kirstie - All right boys...voices and cello up
Mitch - LoOove remains - MiniMitchSlap
Scott - Blue Eyed Soul Dragon Drive-by
Matt - Renames song 'Falsetto from a Bass'
Kevin - "Hold my bow".. "BaaaaBYY!!!!"....
Note all of the members except Kevin just might have a greater connection with this song than they know....we would have to ask their parents. This was some serious baby making music in the 90s.
Having your song sung by Pentatonix is becoming an award...as it should be. Mitch and Kirstie have both said Kevin has the highest register in the group, his falsetto is fantastic.
Awesomely, Phenomenal.
Underrated...angelic...powerful...phenomenon
Hands down they are THE BEST! (PS. I just got my book by Scott and Mark and it sounds like they may have a baby on the way!)
Oh!! That would be wonderful!! I know they've had that in their minds for a while now...and I guess it's time. They'll be awesome dads!!
My book will be here tomorrow. Eagerly awaiting it!
@@Gwennedd Be sure to check out the dedication!
@@jlee954 Will do!
The instrument is Kevin's electric cello. Kevin began piano lessons at age 4, cello at age 6, and alto saxophone at age 10. He beatboxes while playing the cello, a technique he calls "celloboxing." He performed at Carnegie Hall twice when he was a teenager, once on cello and once on saxophone.
It was a viral video on CZcams of Kevin celloboxing that first brought him to the attention of the trio (Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch) back in 2011 when they were desperately searching for a beatboxer to fill out the band so they could appear on _The Sing-Off._ You can hear both Scott and Kevin tell the story if you watch "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth." This is a live feed from a concert they gave in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin's home town: czcams.com/video/DbCasvcNx78/video.html
Kevin's acoustic cello is named Beyoncé, and Kevin had planned to call his electric cello "Jay-Z," but his mom likes "Mr. Carter" better. Meet Mr. Carter.
He can beatbox while playing his Cello, he also plays keyboards and Saxophone, speaks 5 languages and Graduated pre-med from Yale University
Thanks for the shout out. Never mind about the name mangling. Ok with me. One of my fav videos now.
Mitch was in his Freddie Mercury look in this video. He just transitioned and changed again. Wait for a new video to see his new look. He has the Freddy look for almost 3 years.
Kevin is a classic overachiever. He learned to sing well after joining PTX. He gearboxes, raps, plays the cello saxophone and the piano. He has played twice at Carnegie Hall by 17, one with the saxophone, the other, the traditional cello. He now writes and arranges music and can speak 6 languages and had just passed his pre med entrance exam at Yale when he left for PTX.
His 2 cellos are named Beyonce, a traditional wood cello and Mr. Carter , the electric one u just saw.
You can see Kevin live in Concert in Kevin's Fifth and also, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy reimagined I think. A nice and humble man
I definitely second the recommendation for O Holy Night. Can’t understand how anyone or group could possibly top their rendition.
8:08 The other day I corrected another pentaholic who had written something inaccurate in a comment.
She thanked me.
That's the nice thing about pentaholics; even when we've never met in person we're part of a community and we try to act like one. We may disagree, but we don't engage in fan feuds.
Pentatonix is proud of their fan base. Yes, I'm sure they're gratified that there are so many of us, but they're PROUD that we're a community, that their music spreads love and attracts loving people to follow them.
You don't have a Pentatonix playlist, so it's hard to be sure which songs you've already reacted to. Have you watched their official video of "Imagine" yet? If not, it's high time you did. Trust me on this one; it's relevant.
Two words? Absolute Perfection.
PTX is phenomenal and my favorite group but your music life will be woefully incomplete without listening to these other 3.
1. Smoothness defined.
Basia - Cruising for Bruising 1990 ( German TV)
2. A voice, lyrics and harmonies from the 70's that will still touch your soul - The drummer who could also sing.
Carpenters - Rainy Days & Mondays channel: Carpenters
Carpenters - Superstar channel: Carpenters
Carpenters - Close to You channel: ryanche33
3. A timeless voice from the 60's (rich963 has the good stuff.)
The Seekers - I'll Never Find Another You (HQ Stereo, 1964/'68)
The Seekers - Georgy Girl (1967 - Stereo)
😂 Mitch and Kirstin are the chameleons of #Pentatonix. Trust their voices. If you're getting Mitch slapped, odds are it's Mitch doing it.
Incredibly talented.
Most famous singers have their songs played on the radio and that is how they are identified. Pentatonix, being a niche a cappella group, gets radio time only during the holiday season, so therefore are not heard nearly as much. But...one reactor at a time....Pentatonix is growing in popularity. I wouldn't be surprised if their popularity skyrocketed while they were on the Masked Singer. If you want a treat, react to their performances on the Masked Singer......all of their performances all in one video plus their reveal. I look forward to you knowing each of their names, besides Mitch. Kevin, the beatboxer, cello player, and singer (and more). Kirstie, the female. Matt, the bass, who can also sing lead as he does here. Scott the tall blonde. On to your next PTX reaction!
I can't hardly walk and chew gum at the same time... Kevin is so talented that there aren't even words! Sing, beatbox& play cello, etc, all at the same time. ❤
Kevin is a world class cellist and sometimes plays his cello on some songs. He is a talented musician, composer, singer, beatboxer and linguist.
PTX: Eargasmic! Just in case you are not aware yet, Kevin is also a classically trained saxophonist. The whole group is so talented it’s unbelievable. I love these guys!
Unparalleled perfection! I hope you can see them in concert at some point. Not only are they musical geniuses, but they are also really great people. There really aren’t enough positive words to describe them. O Holy Night next 😊.
My two words? Acapella GOAT
When forming Pentatonix in 2011, they found Kevin because of his celloboxing skills on CZcams.
2 words: talent showcase
I've seen them live 2 weeks before Christmas, man they sure can put on a really good show.
Outstandingly talented.
Greetings from South Africa
Awesome and Epic! I have been a fan for years! Kevin can beatbox while playing the cello! That is an electric cello.
PTX = Undeniably talented ❣️
Exceptional, brilliant, unique.
Phenomenal, ethereal
One or two words to describe PTX...Genius, Heavenly, Otherworldly, Unbelievable.
Great reaction as usual. You always do such a good job.😅
Next I have another artist for you to check out. The band is Brooks and Dunn and the song is Believe. This song is a true story about the guy Ronnie Dunn(Singing). You are going to love this one!!
Thanks for all you do!!!
Peace dude!! Much love to you from Texas!!!
I already reacted to it, you can find it on my channel
Cello boxing (cello+beatboxing) is how Scott found Kevin in the first place
Kevin is a classically trained Cellist. He is also the one that created Cello Boxing.
You go, Kevin!
PTX is all grown up!
unbelievably talented 😇
That was live!
That funny looking thing is an electric cello
Absolute Best!
Most Legendary
world class
Phenomenal!!!!!
One word "Aliens"
Alien unicorns!
Kevin is playing an electric cello.
Best Ever
Stunningly Epic!!
Fun reaction!
The Total!
⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡
Aliens or Angles... lol, I love Pentatonix. I've seen them twice in concert and they are amazing and so fun. I didn't want it to end. Lol Please Popspring Performance 2016 You get 3 original songs and the evolution of Michael Jackson.
Also, it's fun for us to watch reactions to their beginnings. They began on The show The Singoff. Please react to these. Thanks have a great day.
OTHERWORLDLY ❤🤩
I'm so happy you got to this one!!
Also pentatonic are amazing and Kirsty is crisp
Well done!
You just got KO'd!!!
The instrument is an electric cello
Fabulous, incredible.
PTX= Fantasmigorical
Very unexpected!!!!!
PTX? Other worldly!!
Kevin's cello boxing is part of PTX's foundation story, it's how they found Kevin and asked him to join them in the Sing Off in 2011. So, the cello has always been considered a member of the group.
You are now a Pentaholic!
try 'mad world', 'happy now', 'prayers for this world', and an early favorite, 'sing'.
You're so cute!
It is...
to your question about a word to describe how i feel about Pentatonix:
Revelatory
Kevin is on cello...
Sing to me please! Yes, it’s very sexy when a man can sing well. PTX is better than the rest ❤❤
Hone free end of the road cover if you get chance love your reactions ptx amazing grace is fire john brown Nottingham uk
If they use an instrument it will be in the video
PTX HAS OVER 1 BILLION FOLLOWERS! RESEARCH NECESSARY!
Cello
A playlist of PTX will create large subs, views, and comments. The Pentaholics will find you and guide you through the copyright process and this very large rabbit hole.

Brand new to your channel, enjoying your reactions!
Yes, Kevin is ridiculous! 😆 Not only can he beatbox, he can sing like an angel, he has perfect pitch, he is fluent in mandarin or Korean, He was getting his medical degree, I don't know if he finished that or not. He can play that cello, which is what he is playing here, he can play the saxophone, he can play the piano, he can do many of them at the same time which is incredible. He also is just a genuinely nice guy! I met him once he is so giving to his fans and just incredible you can tell he's just a fantastic human being husband, father... The list goes on and on and on!
I'd love to see your reaction from this 2016 live performance from Pentatonix. It is 4 songs you know 3 of which are original songs By Pentatonix! But I think you'll really enjoy it you can see what they do live and this is just 1 of the best filmed and sound quality live performances you'll find.
Ear candy
The ladies generally like a man that can sing well. Haha
😂 Ama step my vocal game up then 😂
NO ONE HAS A.VOICE LIKE MITCH! NO ONE ELSE HAS A VOICE LIKE MITCH!! HIS LOOKS MAY CHANGE BUTNEVER THE VOICE!! WE CAN TELL YOU ARE NOT A PENTAHOLIC!!
He Beatboxes, not gearboxes
Too many random pauses. Kevin is not a bass. And bass has nothing to do with beatboxing. Kevin is a tenor and believe it or not has a similar upper range to Mitch (Mitch says Kevin has the highest voice in the group)
