Although I’m 68 years old, this is my first year growing a garden. I have chosen a container garden to eliminate the need of weeding. I lost three squash plants, all I had, two powder mildew. I have planted three new ones, I am very glad I have found this channel and have subscribed. I will be an ad watcher of your videos. I have wanted to be a gardener for many years and just now have the time and opportunity to do so. Thanks for all your information. I’ll be tuning in regularly. Located in League City, Texas just south of Houston.

Subscribe, then, click on the bell and choose the option to be notified of all uploads.
LiveStream: I livestream every Monday except holidays, 12pm PT. There you can interact and ask questions to other gardeners and/or me, or guests, etc. We have Monterey Garden and SmartPot fabric containers specialist each week too, in the chat for questions.
It's actually a great place to be. Hope to see you there -

@@CaliKim29 I have a CZcams channel also where I do drone videos, mostly of the battleship Texas as she is going through her dry docking experience. I too did a live stream for about four months, but as I still work, a full-time job, everything became too much for me so I cut out the live stream.I was live streaming on Monday nights at 6:30 PM central time. May your garden be blessed and bring SO much joy to you in this beautiful era of life. What Miss Kim teaches is dependable & true and never just for clicks or show. I’m 36, a farmers daughter raised in Agriculture and I’ve been growing (and cooking what we grow) independently since I learned my ABC’s. Wishing you a garden that strengthens your body, your mind, & your soul! ❀

I was worried about my crookneck squash only producing female flowers, but bumble bees took care of it with cross-polination. I have two zucchini, two crookneck squash, and two lemon squash growing close together. two plants in each 4x2 raiswed bed, and three ground cherries in one 4x2 raised bed. Six plants will produce an ample amount of squash for me. One of the two crookneck squash is loaded with fruit, lots of female flowers, lots of fruit. It has not less than a half dozen squash growing on it, and it grows fast. In a day or two, I'll be harvesting the first squash of the season. I have already harvested my first peppers, better early than on time. LOL. I'll replace the squiash with cauliflower and brocolli later this summer.

I am growing Sunburst yellow scallop squash for the first time. I have 3 plants growing in containers. My squash are producing way more male than female flowers, and the flowers don't open at the same time for easy pollination. I don't have any pollinators in my backyard, so I hand pollinate the flowers. I've only had 3 squash develop to maturity. I really like the scallop squash flavor. I am disappointed though in the productivity and probably won't grow it again next year.

@@CaliKim29 it seems the stem didn’t break just bent
so I’m trying to do seedling triage. :) I propped it up on a stake and direct seeded a few more into the container.
My kitty is obsessed with the containers. He loves sitting in them and rubbing up against them and batting at the seedlings. He’s so cute but dammit!
