That's a nice story! I know you are proud of him. My cousin is Lawrence Ricks #46 for Michigan and I'm proud of him as well. In many ways, College Football has more nostalgia then Pro Football.
I was at this game (15yrs old) with my older brother, dad (ND fans) and my Grandfather, who was a Bo/Michigan fan. I remember Larry Moriority just plowing through Michigan, my grandpa finally commented, 'now, that's a fullback!". ND's rush was all over Michigan!
In This Clip, From 0:00 To 1:15, It Was ABC Sports' NCAA College Football's 20th Year: Notre Dame Vs. Michigan Video Open From Saturday Night, September 18, 1982.
Bo was so incensed at losing to a "pipsqueak" coach that he stormed off the field after the game without shaking hands with Faust. Granted Bo didn't think too highly of Faust, but he could have showed some sportsmanship.
who ever posted this video i cant thank you enuff.thanks for the memories.I miss thease days .sorry for my spelling.god thease were good old days for Notre Dame football.and the t.v comercials.thank you again my friend.go Irish.what was the final score of this game
what was notre dames thinking with faust---- some one in 80 people felt the irish were so good alls they had to do was show and win also he predicted the fall of notre dame coming holtz took back up since holtz gone not much of anything except one bcs results in a loss something the irish didn't do, almost always won the bowl if picked to win or not.. glory years r distance today.
Father Ted and Father Ned actually thought anyone could coach the football team. They quickly found out otherwise. Faust thought it would be easy. They never should have hired him.
At 1:33:39 "they want free enterprise where there's no competition." Beano Cook was right on the money here. Most college football programs lose money and those same schools who wanted "free choice" in 1982 were the same ones griping about athletic scholarship limitations in 1977 as "socialist." In fact, all it did was increase competition so "socialism" apparently worked. I hate what "free enterprise" has done to college football and to this country for that matter.
Holier than thou hypocrites arguing for the television monopoly at the time. If they really felt that way they should have quit when the floodgates to more Televised games opened. All of them benefitted from the created cash cow.
#22 Phil Carter...That's my little brother. He always said when he was little. "Some day, I'm going to play for ND"
Thanks for posting!

I remember going down to my neighbor's house to watch this game. Seeing this makes me sentimental.

He was the coach of Michigan. Humility is not something Michigan coaches are known for, even when their teams stink.

The final score was 23-17. ND led 23-7 before Michigan made it interesting.
19:02 If you want it sir, go ahead and get it! The car that is! 😀😀😀
Where is part 2?
Where's Part 2?
This was Gerry Faust's greatest game. Nortre Dame could have beaten anyone that night.
No, he beat #1 Pittsburgh in 1982.
He beat a few good teams and lost to some AWFUL teams. Just terrible coach. Great man, terrible coach.
Uh...anybody?....nah...

Notre Dame's worst coach, bad uniforms and a quick descent into football hell
14:23 Never has KFC been THIS popular! Even in the 80s! 😀
Keith doesn't know what he's talking about Irish went back to blue in 1981

I hate what Socialism and Communism has done to the world the last 100 years
