Random question: If someone tells me they are deaf, do i respond with “I’m sorry,” or something positive like “Nice” or “Interesting?” I can never tell which one to use cuz it either makes me sound too pitiful or too ignorant 😅

I love your videos, it reminds me when I was in 4th grade I had a crush on a deaf girl, and I thought to myself that if I were to go out woth her when I'm older I am going to have to write on a dry erase board. I then learned how fucked up it sounded.
I learned this at age 10 from sesame Street! Honestly I love gorilla's (still do) and Jane Goodall was on an episode.. I got obsessed with sign language and how beautiful it was.. I picked it up so easy. Now I get excited whenever I meet a deaf person.. Because I work in the service industry and I can actually understand them. I see more and more hearing couples sign with their kids. Even as they grow older.. My son is 5 and knows how to do the alphabet, every animal in the zoo, how to ask hi how are you, what's your name and nice meet you in asl. I hope he has a passion for asl like I do.
Being deaf is not a disease, we are normal just like you :)
