Oooh, Judd Nelson! That's where Geoff's look sent my mind. I'd say the ripped sleeves are Geoff taking every opportunity to show off his biceps (he really does end up in short sleeves half the time) except apparently this was Kathy's idea. She knew precisely what she was doing, teasing the thirsty fans LOL, because she knows ALL TOO WELL that she's got a hot hubby! (Those two are relationship goals!) J.None rocking the Miami Vice look is everything. LAYNE! Gosh, his voice is like a feather on an angel's wing. And Sassy Cesar slays us with that side-eye! I have a jacket just like Cesar's from the 80s. (I was a baby back then, the jacket is my sister's who is 10 years older.)

Layne's handling of Phil Collins' iconic drum beats - AMAZING!! You're right, the video's style suggests an old VHS tape, with sound and video drop-off, distortion, and pixilation plus the difference aspect ratio. The set consisted of the loading dock of one of the stores next to PattyCake Production's studio plus a 1972 Pontiac LeMans belonging to Layne's father. Fun Fact: Many people believe "Oh Lord" is "Hold On" instead. In homage to this Mandela Effect, there is ONE "Hold On" in the cover, See if you can find that Easter Egg.
Old timey? A small part of me died when you called my high-school years, old timey! LOL. This is soooo good. Everyone did so well, more than well. Freaken amazing. That said, Cesar stole this for me. I couldn't' take my eyes off him.
Yeah, I knew you were going to go nuts over it. THIS is why I say my favorite VoicePlay song is "the next one". We all knew Layne was going to kill the drum solo but the rest of the percussion was insane and I love the old VCR tape look to the video he did. Bad boy Geoff showing off his range, and muscles, and J None looking like Don Johnson from. Eli trying to break his high note record and WOW did we get sassy Cesar. I loved that **** off look. Phil is my favorite pop artist of all time and I really think I like one this better. I'd love to see them tackle Livin' On A Prayer sometime soon. BTS fun facts: the car belongs to Layne's dad, J None and Cesar were playing with the big fans by singing into them, and when an audience gathered to watch and asked who they were Geoff said Pentatonix. LOL

I can't believe this is the first time I'm listening to this reaction by you! Again, you are completely on point with all of my feelings/reactions/vibrations (!) with these guys. Geoff is my favorite; his bass just completely knocks me out of my chair. But the others are not far behind in terms of voice, beatbox, sheer amazingness! I've shared my background in music before, and the fact that these guys can completely knock my socks off like 47 times in one song - for technique, faithfulness to original song, originality, and complete gorgeousness (both musical and physical!!) - shows how completely talented they are! And the fact that you can completely capture my musical, emotional, and visceral reaction to their songs shows how completely talented and amazing you are! 😊
Honey, your "Old Timesy" is 80s Miami Vice COOL! I was in college during that time and didnt miss an episode of that show if possible and fell in love with Phil Collins music from that show. And still, everything from that time is still so cool!! Thank you for your joyful reaction! ❤🎉
Oh yeah... this one... blew everyone out of the water. I love the visual glitches, and how it just gives... a feeling like they're breaking the computer simulation they're in by how amazingly well they're doing. On top of that, the degree to which things just... bounce around between the singers, and the way they play with the timing of the musical elements is just... next tier. They did such a good job with this one on every level.

OMG! Now that you said it, I can't stop thinking of Caesar doing a Michael Jackson song. The first thing that popped up in my mind was "Smooth Criminal". I can just imagine the expert layering they'd do in the chorus with the "Annie are you okay?"
I can also imagine them doing "Beat it" and recreating the fight scene but obviously dancing rather than fighting.
So many reactors have been jamming, playing air drums and singing along to this one, it's glorious. 😂 The Backstreet Boys song I'd love to hear them do is Larger than Life--even if it was just a mini.

This is pretty amazing. My percussion-obsessed brain couldn't quite believe they would be able to pull off that iconic drum riff. Guess I was wrong about that, huh? Fabulous job by Layne. And I loved the stompin'. And I will now have the Miami Vice opening montage playing in my head for the rest of the day.

I had a very similar reaction when Layne started singing too. From that point on I didn't realize I was half holding my breath and didn't breath normally till after it finished the first time I watched it. It was incredible and so glad you loved it.
Also I like the new shelves with more display.
They did it proud. It's my favorite now. Layne's dad loaned them the 1972 Pontiac Firebird that he has owned since new.
I loved this song before they did this because it was just so iconic of my teenage years. Phil Collins is incredible at what he does, but this, I think just took it up even another level. I agree, by the way, about Geoff reminding me about Breakfast Club. Wow did that bring back good memories. FIRE!!!
This is one of the songs that VP has elevated so far above the original. Hands down it is so much better than the original.
The way J None, Cesar, and Eli blend is the perfection. This is my ideal VP line up.

It’s so much fun watching you get into these songs. I have to say if personal life stuff hadn’t happened in the last few weeks this would have been on repeat a whole lot. It will be once things settle and I can get into music again. Meanwhile, it’s just all my favorite things about Voiceplay-hearing more and more what Cesar can do (and he’s crushing it), hearing J.None, and Layne singing and slaying the percussion, Geoff laying down amazing bass, and Eli going full-on rock god!

Everyone is just killing it in this one! The 80s vibes is looking so good on Geoff, and Layne is going next level on the percussion. I agree about the BSB sound in Layne's voice, but I'm leaning towards it being Howie D instead of Nick 😊

As a whole the group seems to be bringing out more frequently a rockier side that I'm loving. I was always a bit "meh - it's ok" about this song but this version is outstanding and I love it!

Love how they had J.None channeling Tubbs from Miami Vice. I will always associate this song with that show, as they used it in the sound track many times, and clearly Miami Vice and early days of MTV were the inspiration for the production design here. Geoff or Layne could have easily dressed as Crockett, in pastels and three-day scruff. Instead Geoff said he looks like a character in an after-school special. As others have said, it was Kathy's idea to cut off his shirt sleeves. "Is that for you or for me?" "It's for the world." Geoff's most-watched solo videos, by far, are Misty Mountains Cold and 16 Tons. He's sleeveless in both. Coincidence? Maybe.🤣 Anyone else get "Kill the witch!" vibes from Cesar? his sass! Disdain! Loved it!

Every one of these puts them in the top tier of musical performances, NEVER MIND that they are a capella, which just adds to the amazingness. (I kept wanting to add more names to the list, like the Wicked Medley and Hoist the Colors, etc., but you have to stop somewhere!)
Also, note that three videos since January have featured J None, going to far as to fly him in special to participate. I'm thinking they have every intention of folding him right back into the group permanently when his term in the Navy is finished. I really hope they continue to bring in people like Omar and Anthony and Ashley (and so many more...) to make a sixth "floating" position" just because they have all worked SO WELL with the group and their voices are extraordinary. They proved with the Wicked medley that six aren't too many... :)

Why does Voice play always have JNone singing with them. Can't they do this without him. If they can't they should just make him part of the group. It's very good......but God Tier. Raise your bar. Listen to some early Hall and Oats (Sara Smile) or Marvin Gaye. Voiceplay are great and it's a good arrangement and it's impressive but not "God" Tier. Good reaction.
J. None was a permanent member of VoicePlay until he joined the Navy. He comes back as a featured guest whenever he can.
