Hi there! I love this, especially the gratitude practice. Do you mind speaking more on your career for individual who would love to pursue this career? I would love to go to school online, and do my internship online and also practice online, do you think this is possible?

Is it even POSSIBLE to conduct telemental health abroad working with the U.S. population? It's been hell for me to find a company open to that perspective.

Thanks for the content! I was interested in what you had to say during the specifics section. The background music can be set a little lower or none at all next time ;)

Very much noted! I am still learning ropes of video making and audio is definitely something I am trying to improve. Glad you found it interesting.

Hi there! I have been quite busy -- perhaps the next installment would bee a day in the life of a private practice owner. :) Anything you would like for me to make a video on?

Couldn’t you put an artificial background behind you instead of your bed? One that you can find online?

    • @carlocatabijan

I most definitely could and I do vary them from time to time. I do like my natural background at times though, it feels more calming and realistic.

So you mentioned you were an associate clinician in the video I believe? How similar is that to a LPC? I have an Associates in Mental Health and Bachelor’s in Human Services - working on a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling while working as a QMHP.
My goal is obtain licensure as a LPC and eventually work remotely for someone like Brightside Health. Does this sound like a good move to you balance/salary wise? Do you ever run into shortages of client hours?
Subscribed and will start following your journey. Thanks!

Hi there! Great question, let me try my best to answer this. I do also have to update this as I am fully licensed now and will do a video about starting my own practice.
So yes - I was an "associate" marriage and family therapist (AMFT) in this video. An associate - in the state of California - is someone who possess an advanced degree and qualifications to practice therapy BUT are not yet fully licensed and must be supervised by an licensed supervisor. I believe an LPC is a licensed professional clinical counselor. They are also therapists and can provide similar services as to what an MFT or a Social Worker can.
I will do a more in-depth video of private practice in another video. I think your question can have a lot of factors. I don't know much about Brightside Health to opine my thoughts. However, I would encourage you to ask them about their caseloads, client acquisition strategies, and more importantly, how much they pay therapists.
      Best of luck!

The music was too loud towards the end and made it difficult to hear and concentrate on your voice. I had to stop watching. But up to that point it was quite interesting. I will keep an eye on your channel and hope there are future videos that have either no music or where the volume of your background music is turned down so I can hear your voice better. Definitely quality content!

Behind on my progress notes always, any suggestions?

    • @carlocatabijan
      @carlocatabijan  Před 2 lety

Hi Irene, thank you for the comment! Here are my thoughts on progress notes and difficulties in timeliness:
      1. Boundaries boundaries boundaries. I always set time at the end of my day to write down progress notes. I make sure that this time is "sacred" and make sure there are absolutely no disturbances. So, no emails with clients, no phone calls with supervisors, no other directive but just getting notes done.
      2. Checking the length of your notes - I know that we all struggle to keep our progress notes from becoming a novel. I adhere to 2-3 sentences per every intervention / response. Quick, straight to the point, and direct.
      3. Keeping the consistency. It's easy to just call it a day after a sessions on sessions. But maintaining consistency with keep notes done is always a better feeling.
