Kreek, to get the rat, you need to complete all 3 quest from Uncle Pete; he'll then give you the rat to wake up the detective.

the hardest part about the final boss is that every time Scary Larry snaps, the screen repositions itself an you have to look at it from a completely different angle.

5months later I played break in 2 and I played Larry's backstory it's so fun
Personally I feel like Break In 1 is a lot better than 2, that’s only because yes, it’s meant to be harder but I think we jumped up a little too fast. Also by the fact the start barely had any action, if the car broke down there should’ve been a cutscene.
I’m not trying to hate on Kreek or the game, this is only my opinion.
