- Ugh, we never expected to be making this video! We had to say goodbye to our little pony Colt, when he unexpectedly passed from colic/twisted gut. Colt was Olivers BFF and little brother and he sure will be missed. A big question we have had is “Is Oliver Ok” so lets get everyone updated on what Oliver's week has been like without his little buddy.

Sometimes an Angel (Colt) accomplishes their mission too quickly for humans to understand. Colt taught Oliver how to play, have fun, be a good friend to other horses and acclimate to a new home. May little Colt rest in peace.

Oliver looks soooo good! Have you weighed him lately? There’s a difference in breeding for the betterment of a breed vs. “milling” just for money. You guys are doing it right. Bettering the breed AND rescuing horses that contribute to that end based upon quality & lineage. Your herd is beautiful, especially the babies. ❤❤❤

I believe we are all here for a purpose and obviously Oliver was Colts purpose. He brought Oliver through some tough times both physical and mentally. Poor Oliver couldn't even lay down. Colt brought life back a mission well done.❤

Anyone who watches your channel cannot miss the fact your horses and babies are quality possible forever horses for someone. If I were in the market, JR’s horses would be my #1 choice. Based on what I have seen in the videos, I believe JR is trustworthy and sincere. In this day and age, these are qualities to admire. ❤ Even though it’s hard to understand why Colt was taken so soon, I believe in God’s plan for each living creature. Colt will live on in our hearts 🐴❤️🐴

I have no issues with you breeding horses rather then rescuing.
I do love the idea of breeding cross breeds with Oliver to help people who are bigger to have horses they can ride without harming the horse.

Yes, we all Dearly Loved Colt and will Always be grateful for the wonderful companionship he gave Oliver when he first arrived & was new and scared and “ delicate”. Colt helped Oliver grow strong and confident. ❤ Colt will always be “ a part” of Oliver .

Colt was a good mini horse. ❤ I was glad to make his acquaintance. There are a lot of mini horses that are given up for adoption. They are wonderful horses to keep and little Colt and Big Oliver had a wonderful friendship.
I always say, the Lord works in mysterious ways. I need a tissue. I knew you guys would figure something out for Oliver. I didnt think he would want to be alone. Oliver had a major distraction from missing Colt. It probably was the only thing that could get his mind off missing him. What a sweet sight the two of them together was. Colt was a good looking little guy. Oliver was so gentle with him. I loved seeing Oliver hanging out with Sioux and her foal. Like a little family they were. Now he has Champ, and they seem to love each other already. G-d bless your family including all the animals, of course.
On the night I read that Colt had passed, I didn't sleep all night and kept bursting into tears. RIP, little guy, and please keep an eye on everyone at your farm, particularly, Oliver.

He was such a cute bundle of energy but I believe you’re right and he was there when he was for a purpose. Oliver is looking very good and seeing him with these other horses is wonderful progress. I think it may have been beneficial for Oliver to sniff Colt before he was buried, to understand Colt was gone for good, to grieve and move on. They're your horses and you handled it with your God-given wisdom. I'm sure you didn't take the decision-making lightly, but sought the Lord. You'll continue to be His witness.

As a long time pit bull owner (over 20 yrs) i agree with you. They are more genetically predisposed they have been bred over the yrs to be strong and fierce. Thats why its so important to end backyard breeding if a dog ends up with the wrong humans it could be very dangerous. But they're not all like this, thats why u end up with pits as a bait dogs because they have absolutely no fight in them.

I'm SO sad for the passing of Colt! I know you did everything possible to save him. Oliver and Champ will be besties.
I am concerned for Sioux being bred to Oliver. He looks incredible and he is a sweet boy as most draft horses are. You said Oliver was not much bigger than Sioux but he’s not fully grown. Genetically the Clydesdale is still significantly larger than the Missouri Foxtrotter. I think this delivery is going to be challenging for the mare. I know draft crosses are highly popular and I’m sure you’ll do a fantastic job raising and training the foal. You said you were going to charge a high price when you sell but yet you paid a lot of money for Oliver and he was in really poor condition so there’s no guarantee that somewhere down the line this baby is going to end up in a similar situation or even worse. All across the country there are so many draft horses going to the kill pens which is so sad. A lot of those horses are abused and neglected once they are in their teens and 20s after working their entire lives for people. I wish the best for Sue and her baby to come and I’m sure it’s going to be a stunning foal. A paint mom and a Clydesdale. Dad is sure to be an eye catcher
I love the bond JR and Oliver have, it's like he knows JR saved his life! Sioux and Ollie look great together and I'm really looking forward to seeing their child. Lakota is a beautiful horse, Bob and Sioux really created a beautiful boy, I love the colors on Sioux, she's just beautiful. I really hope Ollie and Champ become good friends. The last video of Ollie and Colt was great to see but also bitter sweet, kind of heartbreaking seeing the little guy for the last time... 😮💨🤥😪

I am just amazed at the intricacies of just having two horses together. I certainly had no knowledge of the difference between one and another regarding genes, breed ability, and usefulness. Such a shame about Colt. He died so quickly and unexpectedly. Thank you again for the lesson of the day

Oliver will be just fine with his new buddy. The worst thing that could have happened, would have been, for Oliver to be alone, at this time. I remember when my father-in-law lost one member of his team of drafts. The other one was alone in the pasture and stood near the grave of his teammate and nearly grieved himself to death. One of the most sad things I ever watched. My father-in-law had to sell the draft because of his grieving and refusal to eat. After him going to a farm with other horses he recovered just fine.

Thank you for the video. It is so thoughtful of you sharing this with us. I confess, I got misty - eyed watching. If I had the money and the room, I would love to have one of Oliver's offspring. (Actually, I would love to have Oliver, but JR called dibs first. 😄) Champ seems like a fine animal. I hope he and Oliver will become very good friends. Looks like they probably will. I'm so glad Oliver has found his forever home. I can't help smiling when I think back at how almost annoyed JR was when he decided to take Oliver in. He seemed to somewhat resent the situation, saying something like, " I don't do rescues, and I don't want to do this again." Now look. JR has fallen in love ---- and understandably so. We all have fallen in lone with Oliver. I know, I fell in love with him the first moment I saw him. He is a truly special boy, quite extraordinary. Thanks again. Blessings and best wishes.
I had forgetten that! Thanks for the reminder! It was the viewers that pretty much forced JR to rescue him, by sending money and messages pleading with him to rescue the Clydesdale that was unnamed at the time, and was starving to death, very literally, in a pen with a dead horse, and other horses dying all around. It was a horrific place!
And although at the time that people pressured JR into it we didn't yet know how bad that farm was, we knew Oliver was worth the effort. So once the decision was made to find him and go get him, JR had to drive a very long way there and back to get him, and along the way he taped his reasons why things are the way they are, including why he doesn't generally do rescues. Although he has done at least 2, or maybe 3 since then, depending how you look at it.
There was the mare and her white foal that were definate rescues, and there was also a son of Bob, or maybe son of another of their other former stallions. That one was not really in danger, but the mare and foal might have been. None of these were needed by JR and Emery, but their hearts told them to ensure the future of those horses.
He made 1 really big point. He has to work a full time job off the farm in order to keep the farm. And the farm itself has to bring in a profit too, otherwise he would need to sell it and move to a city or town. No horses would ever be rescued by him and Emeri, and the good home he gives them would just go to any old person. There is a limit to the charity that any organization can provide. They must ensure their own sustainability first. JR and Emeri do a wonderful job of providing homes to as many horses as they can. They are great people! ❣💜💙❤💕

It was meant for you to have Oliver and meant for Oliver to have you... God knew just what He was doing.
I'm sorry for the loss of Oliver's buddy Colt... But again, God knew just what He was doing by placing Colt in Oliver's life at the time He did.
All of this makes me wonder about Oliver's path ahead of him... There IS a very special purpose for Oliver !
I noticed the increase in your subscribers numbers and that is a lot of people that are in love with and who care about Oliver...lol.
Maybe that's his purpose, to bring all of our minds together for a positive purpose especially now-a-days.
But overall, we are all very Blessed in so many ways and I am thankful I found you good folks channel, Oliver's Story and able to see and hear the love and concern in the comments of so many other people of " like minds. "

I love how you cherish those different horse breeds. Here in Finland we have our own Suomenhevonen. Finnish horse, which is very versatile, and just the perfect for the climate. You couldn't even believe all those hero/heroine stories of them, that I have listened during my young life.
All of your horses are just gorgeous! I loved hearing about your philosophy and breeding plan---it makes complete sense to me (a non-horse owner). I especially love seeing how beautiful Classy is now, as well as Oliver, they have come a long way. Champ has a wonderful future ahead of him, and he's really going to grow and mature in amazing ways, no doubt. I do have a soft spot for the Auction Mare, Jewel, and Magnolia too, because of their connection to the bloodlines you mention. Your videos are such a bright spot in a pretty crazy world.

Colt and Image's resting place is beautiful... Thank you for showing this to us, so now we can visualize how peaceful, serene and how much love of consideration was taken to pick the perfect spots... Great video guys.. its hard not to see that ornery little dude picking at Oliver to get him to play..Our Lord does work in mysterious ways..firstly was you spotting Oliver at that auction..Emeri quit her job to do this Chanel..we all fell in love with Oliver..that massive rd trip you took to rescue him..the epm...and setting up Oliver's wishlist..getting Colt who was the perfect personality to get Oliver going and realise there are good humans out there..gosh they were good friends.. Colt's loss has given you the opportunity to breed Sioux who just happened to come into season at the perfect time... now you can put Champ with Oliver for company yes..but gets him out of a difficult situation with all those ladies around.. I don't know horses but even I was confident it would be ok with Oliver. . He's got such a gentle personality I doubt he would ever want to hurt him..look what he could have done to Colt if he wanted to..I think Oliver got more bites on his legs from the little fella😃😂.. and it means you can keep Champ a stud too.. how long do you leave a stallion with a mare ?... will Oliver have been with her long enough and have stallions got an age when they become fertile? Also how long is it before you can preg check her ? You explained previously about how you can breed a big stallion to a smaller mare and I think its amazing what nature can do..so pleased you have decided to keep Oliver..he is one special horse..you are going to have fun riding him JR. .all that power in your control..I think he will be an easy train. He looks worlds better thanks to your loving care. Never would have guessed putting two different staged stallions together. I 'd like to think Little Colt was an Angel from God that helped Oliver feel loved and comfortable in his new home which he clearly did without question. For Oliver who had been thru so much trauma, little Colt brought him out of his shell, socialized him, showed him love, companionship, and made him feel safe.
So happy Oliver is in his forever home - with his little angel Colt watching over him.

I have really enjoyed learning about the Missouri Fox Trotters. Having been a American Saddlebred owner, I have a fondness for gaited horses. You have sure sold me on your breed and if I could still own and ride, I'd love to have one. Your goals are what works for you and I respect what you do and see it as an important endeavor. There are lots of ways to be a horse rescuer. We can't all be Tawnee and Jason Priesner (Horse Plus Humane Society). Thanks for doing your part in rescuing this amazing gentle and lovely breed from extinction. So sorry you lost Colt. But am so happy to see Oliver enjoying a new pal and on his way to fathering some foals. You and Emory are a fantastic team-just had to throw that out there. Love ya! God 💝 bless!

So I am new to the channel and catching up on Oliver. I have treated my mare for EPM and have found that a product called GutX. Since Oliver has been through so much in his young life it would surly benefit his stomach. My mare did not have ulcers, but with the GutX seemed to really help her after EPM treatment. With the stress of treatment and how Oliver grew up I think it would help him a bunch! Just sharing my experience with EPM. My mare has made a full recovery and i show her in cutting! You are doing an awesome thing for Oliver!

So sorry for the loss of Colt, unfortunately sometimes these things happen for no reason. Oh, it will be interesting to see what kind of baby you get, like will it be a paint? Will it look more like Oliver? Also nice that he's got a new friend.
Its difficult and sad losing Colt but when JR could only insert the tube so far, I knew he was twisted.
It happens easier with smaller breeds over the larger. Much less room..
Champ and Oliver should do fine. Once Champ is older, you might see some behavior while the Mares are in season.
Might have to split up for a few days..
Found the average memory is three months. Scent and face, voice support the trigger.
With humans, it can be years. I've had several different breeds break from owner to greet me like a long lost parent then stick like glue.

Colt was such a cutie. I really enjoyed their banter with each other. He is sorely missed.
On another note, some folks don't have farms and really don't realize how expensive these animals are to care for. Horses are expensive and require special attention to be raised healthy . The vet bill alone can be staggering.
You folks are doing a great job. Follow your dream.

Colt was a beautiful little winged angel with a shiny halo, who also proudly wore a pair of horns. He was delightfully ornery, mischievous, and obnoxious. Poor Oliver had no choice but to play with Colt or be pestered to death by the teensy little firecracker angel. No physical therapist or psychologist could have done a better job of physically and emotionally rehabilitating poor Oliver. Colt's tactics were like a combination of Marine Drill Sargeant, goofy best buddy, and pesky little brother. He barely came up to Oliver's belly, but he was large, and in charge. 🤣 He did his job exceedingly well. May he rest in peace. He will be missed. I especially love the video of Colt and Oliver, joyfully galloping across the pasture together, with tails, and heads held high. And the one of Colt, taking a nap on top of Oliver and doing a hilarious backflip when Oliver stood up... SOOO FUNNY!!! I hope the friendship between Champ and Oliver will blossom into something equally beautiful, that will enrich both of their lives. Sending love and prayers from Michigan.
