From Disney to The Simpsons to Pixar, Brad Bird is one of the most Successful Animation directors of ALL- TIME! Here are 5 Rules he uses to create his amazing body of work! Follow us in IG: bit.ly/2AMn4Mq
I threw away what was essentially the entire premise of my story and backstory for my main character. Being able to build from there into something undeniably superior is the most badass feeling. I think part of the habit is that the creative process includes lots of small parts you feel pressure to make good in themselves, and don't necessarily work with other components to form something greater than the sum of its parts. My advice is to pick a focus. A spider diagram of themes. Character motives. Whatever floats the boat all the way to completion in the most honest and convincing way in which you can do that.
Brad Bird… what more needs to be said about this guy that hasn’t already been said. I practically live off of this guy’s work, so it’s no wonder why he is one of my animation heroes.
I've never heard anyone mention character over action before, but shoot! People really should! That changes a scene from being visually good, to thematically great. Oof, I'm just saying out quotable sayings now! Maybe I'm destined to be in the animation industry.
A bit confusing since we come to know characters only through their actions - unless we think that dialogue and special effects will carry a trite story as in Frozen 2 which actually put me to sleep.
My Production A teacher told us the same on problems and solution, if you’re a producer and you only bring problems on board, then it’s not gonna work for you, bring me the problem and the solution
The giggle dash makes when he realizes he can run on water is one of my favorite moments in animation
The characters over action actually opened my eyes 🤔
Same! Had to share it! Glad you were able to take somehting valuable away from his advice!
