Personally, I much prefer to 100% complete this game than Crash 4 Its about Time.
At least time relics were enjoyable to collect in Wrinkle Of Cowpac.

Crash 4 thinks that because it's a Crash game and a sequel aiming to be 'bigger and better' it needs to have more and more boxes without knowing the meaning of the word restraint.

I particularly didn't like the levels that merged the jumping and riding pillars; where sometimes you do some jumping and spinning and then have the rest have you on an animal or jetboard. I enjoy both individually, but mostly not when combined. And yes, it's made much more infuriating due to the levels going on for an eternity.

Idk, I thought the levels were inventive enough to earn their length (for the most part). They never really felt “too long” to me. I think it just feels bloated when you start going for a completionist run, which I’ll never do in that game.
I can confirm that the captions in your Wrath of Cortex video do indeed think Crunch is saying "Puny 4-inch dick." It is marvelous.

Strange how this game's called Wrath of Cortex but he was a lot more angry and wrathful in Warped the more crystals and gems Crash and Coco collected and the more of his henchmen they beat. In Warped a combination of being beaten in the previous 2 games and Uka Uka bossing him around seemed to be driving him insane but Crunch's defeats in this don't bother him.
As a kid, I always felt offended by Crunch shouting "Die" at the player in the third boss fight. He had burst my innocent escapism with the Crash games and suddenly made it feel all too real. And this in a game with a 3+ age rating!

1:12:54 I hate how this game reduces previous Crash villains to random obstacles to hype up Crunch who becomes a glorified cameo from Twinsanity onwards.
I'm sure someone has already answered this, but it's called a dogfight because of how quick they usually are to take down another plane and because they chase behind like dogs do when they fight.
Fun fact about the ball levels:
The colours may seem random, but I think they might be coloured that way to help the developers orient the ball properly.

@@deoxysandmew2162 I did, and I have a PS2 controller shaped bruise on my leg from a mix of how my gaming set up is and my downward smash move when frustrated, and I probably have caused some kinda permanent damage to my vocal cords from how much I was screaming

At least Wrath Of Cowpac is 30 levels long, doesnt overstay its welcome when it comes to levels and doesnt have triple spin BS.

My thoughts from watching it: It’s got good ideas, and executes them greatly for the most part. One of this game’s issues comes from having too many ideas at once.

@@natuguyyy2628 While true it’s a bizarre change considering his views on the games as a whole haven’t really changed that much, Crash 3 is still one of his faves and he still thinks this is not that great. The bike levels have not got better and the jeep controls have not got worse so the only explanation I can really come up with that makes sense is that he fluked the gem and crystal first try when filming that vid

Watching you suffer through 'Smokey & The Bandicoot' was hilarious. The bike levels were generally some of the best in Warped, so I was looking forward to playing this level in The Wrath of Cortex, especially since Traveller's Tales nailed the play control in Muppet Racemania and Toy Story Racer. Unfortunately, it's probably the worst level in the game, barring the two swimming and second plane levels. Going for the gem was such a bore, and the time trial was so comically easy. Definitely a gameplay type that shouldn't have gone past pre-production, I mean, yikes!
And he still has to get the platinum relic…
Those levels really need a restart button.

Such an underrated Crash game.
I enjoy it more than Crash 1, and put it on par with 2, but it doesn't reach the quality of 3 and CTR.
Those wonky hitboxes though, and I feel bad for anyone that bought the PS2 version.
It really isn't. The sheer abundance of terrible vehicle sections brings this game down so hard.

I own this game on GameCube. So I don't have it nearly as bad.

I'm actually playing through the gauntlet rn and i just went through the bonus round. There are only 35 boxes to get. Are there different level designs in the NTSC and PAL versions??
Nah, I have the PAL version like him too. However, I own the ps2 platinum version which slightly improved on the load times and there are slight differences to crate counts in some levels. The Gauntlet has 35 bonus crates for me too, the level has a total of 136. Droid Void has 169 for me. I think Avalanche has 111? Anyways, Caddy has the original ps2 PAL version.
So there are crate count differences between the original release and the platinum release, surprisingly.

So the reason why this game is a half-hearted Crash 3 is because Universal demanded a more traditional Crash game after Mark Cerny split off from the project. The original idea was a more Mario 64 open world platformer, but after Cerny bailed on Universal because they’re a terrible company, Universal only gave Traveler’s Tales 12 months to scrap the project entirely and make a more traditional Crash game

He’s going to finish it in his own time but not stream it. He said in the previous VOD to this one that because of all the tech problems he had while streaming it, plus catching COVID and continuing to stream while he was sick that he’s got a lot of negative associations with the game.

In his previous WoC stream he explained because of the tech issues he had while streaming it plus COVID that he has a lot of negative associations with the game, so he’s not going to keep streaming it. Presumably that’s why the VODs he had uploaded of it have also been deleted
