These video's really bring the car to life! So many memories as a kid with my RC's. Tamiya Falcon was my first and will always be my favorite.
Unbelievable...I thought my 12 years old toy only existed in my memory. I discover by chance that it has been re-realeased and moreover filmed on CZcams with hundreds of comments. Incredible. Thank you so much for the journey
Back to the 80`s.... This was my first RC Car💖
Best times! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊
Tamiya still sells them.
@@runforestrunfpv4354 We all know that, why do you tell it then?
Mine too!
@@RC-ty5ym I had grasshopper too until it was runover by a car.
My first RC car. Still remember opening the box as 15 year old kid, the smell of the tires. Later upgrade to 540 motor. I run this car for many hours until it was completely wrecked. I still love it. Thanks for the great video!
That is awesome! Thank you! 👍😊
My dad wants one of these and I'll be buying it for him for Christmas
Thank you for bringing back my childhood memories, keep them coming!
Our pleasure! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊
It was released in 2005 shut up what are you 22? You’re still a child

@@Matteomeier 👍✌
I had this as a kid. Loved this car
Oh these were so fun back then. First car I raced !!! I am 68 years old !!
Never too old for RC fun! 👍😊
@@Matteomeier I gave all my RC cars to my son. He still has an Associated RC10, Aluminum chassis, in the orig. box
I had the Hornet in the mid 80's. These are still available. Great for kids to start out on. Unlike the Walmart junk, these have parts available to fix or upgrade them.
Yes, I agree! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊
Another great vehicle from the Golden Age (circa 1981-1988) of Tamiya rc car development and evolution. The chassis concepts and designs that Tamiya engineers came up with just blow the mind (SRB/Frog/Grasshopper/Wild One/Fox). When you consider that this car was the entry level kit that replaced the Holiday Buggy of 3 years before, and when you consider the massive improvements in design and performance, Tamiya was employing genius staff. No other explanation!
👍 Thank you! 😊
wonferful slo-mo footage like the original Tamiya promotional video's!
Great job!
FANTASTIC footage!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it Rob! 👍😊
Soo cool to see the RC car from mid 80's😎😍. Bought a Grashopper as my first RC car, always wanted the Tamiya Holiday Buggy but didnt have the money in the early 80's...😏😏. But finally got myself a Grashopper and was over the moon!!😃😃😍😍😍I modified it engine wise by first switching to a 540 engine and 7.2 V battery, up from the 380 stocker/6V battery, , then I bought a 540 Black engine, and when even that was boring, I ended up buying the most expensive Kyosho racing engine with adjustable rpm's. It was really fast!!😎. Brings back so good memories. 😊
What an iconic car in an epic video.
Awesome musical choice too.
Pure enjoyment, as always.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏😊
These were a blast in the 80s! I had the Grasshopper, the Hornet, Wild Willie's stunt jeep and the Subaru Brat! Hours and hours of fun, especially with the black motors.
Yes, good times! 😊👍
I used to look at the Grasshopper and Monster Beetle in the Sears catalog every Christmas as a kiddo. My parents couldnt afford that level of rc car but I asked Santa every year! Lol
Maybe you can afford one now! 👍😊
Could watch this all day. You got that slo mo just right for the scale
Great video! My first rc car in 1988
Thanks! Great to hear! 👍😊
That was the perfect type of terrain for the Grasshopper! A real joy to watch.
Thanks for your nice comment! 👍😊
What a classic and this is the perfect place for it. Again. another fantastic video. Thanks for posting.
Many thanks! 🙏 😊
A childhood classic!
Yes, for the most of us in the right age! 👍😊😊
@@Matteomeier if my old mind can recall correctly it was 1988/89 for me
My first hobby grade RC car. This is where the magic started for me. So many memories, so much uncontrollable bouncyness.
Thanks for sharing your story! 👍😊
Awesome video. Great running location for Grasshopper. 👌👍
Thanks 👍
your video is like a time machine, loved the old grasshopper as a kid.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your lovely feedback! 😊👍
Absolutely brilliant video
Great work
AWESOME!!!!!! Thats what the buggy was made for!!
Thanks! 👍😊
Old school Tamiya. Awesome!
Thank you! 🙏
My first proper RC car as well. I upgraded the motor to the Mabuchi 540 too after a month or so!
Yes, much more fun with the bigger motor! 👍😊
There she is! Just superb! Loved it, my friend!
Many thanks to my nordic friend!! 👍👍😊
Nice shot of those ball joints 😊
Some OG goodness right there.
Thank you! 👍
I had one in the 80s with a Technigold in it, awesome on the beach😁
Very cool! 👍😊
very nice shots
Thanks a lot! 🙏😊
Ahhhh. The first RC I ever owned. An OG Grasshopper circa 1986.
Great times!
Hours and hours of fun i had with this as a kid in the 80s . Great vid.
I have one stored away that I have been meaning to revive forever. So many good memories.
That's great! Thanks for your feedback Yannick! 👍😊
Another brilliant video! This was the 1st Tamiya I drove when a kid.... My friend owned one. Great memories!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing your memories John! 😊👍
Great vid, love the movement in those front shocks! Brilliantly captured.
Thanks a lot! 👍😊
Wow! This was my prized possession back when I was 12 yo. Awesome 👍
Thanks for your feedback! Was good times back then, wasn't it? 😊😊
Finally, the video of grasshopper... my first rc buggy when I was 14 years old... great job Matteo as alway... thank you
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😊
Thanks for the slow-mo shots. They confirmed what I had been thinking for a long time - the rear suspension is super stiff and doesn’t move much if at all.
The problem is the rear suspension does not support the gearbox and motor, so not enough weight works on the rear dampers.
have been waiting for a long time
Hope you enjoyed it! 😊
Great video!! 👍🏼
Thanks! 😊👍
That sure brought back memories! My buddy had the grasshopper & I had the wild Willy’s which is still in my garage on the shelf. Thanks for the video!
Very cool! Thanks for your feedback Brian! 👍😊
Ah man. Waaaaaay back my Dad told me I had a choice to make, the Grasshopper or the Wild One. I went Wild. Seeing this makes me want to get the Grasshopper that I never did, for my son!! Rad video, thank you!!
That is awesome! Thank you for your feedback! 👍
I never expect to saw grasshopper has a charming move like in your video!! So cool!!!
Thank you so much! 😊👍
I had the grasshopper!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! 👍😊
Still one of the all time best looking RC’s.
Yes, indeed! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊😊
What a great video! Always loved Tamiya cars, once had inherited an incomplete Sand Scorcher! Wish I still had it!
Thank you! 👍😊😊
Sick footage!
Thanks! 😊
Thank you Matteo!
Awesome footage
Thanks a lot! 😊👍
my first RC car back in 1985. I used to break the rear diff housing almost every 2 weeks from jumping it. I probably ordered a total of 50 of that rear plastic assembly from all the times I broke it. I tried tying coat hanger wire from one side to the other to help strengthen it to tapping to heck out of it, to using fiberglass resin and tape to strengthen the joints. I got a RC-10 after less than a year just due to the cost of replacement rear ends. I had a RC plane and used the 4 channel Tower Hobbies radio from the plane to control it. I lived way out in the country. I upgraded the motor to the standard 540 size and then went to bronze bushings and finally ball bearings. I went thru a couple speed control resistors where they got burnt up. I had so much fun with that car. I ended up starting racing in the later half of the 80's up until 2001. 1/10 scale electric then nitro, then 1/8 scale nitro off road then 1/8 scale on road. I spent WAY too much money over the years racing, but I had a blast and had great racing friends. Kept me out of trouble.
Thanks for sharing your story! Seems you had great times, even you needed a lot of spare parts! 👍😁
@@Matteomeier Jumping stuff has been my life. I jumped my bike all the time, until I broke the frame and it took over a year to get the money to replace it. When I got into 1/8 scale off road, I had a Kyosho MP-5 that I raced and then ran at my work. I would jump it over my head in the parking lot in front of my store.( 4 x 4 plywood ramp ) I had people wanting them like candy until they found out how expensive they were. My parents didn't let me have a motorcycle or I would have jumped that too. Until I was 17 we always lived in the country with few kids around. I had to find something to amuse myself. ( until girls, that is ) I love competition and racing is great, clean fun. It improves hand/eye coordination and is great for finding friends when you don't have many. The best part is, you can't destroy the whole car in a single crash like I did with my RC Plane, and they don't sink like 2 of my RC Boats did. RC Cars/Trucks just can't be beat in fun factor.
Oh, looks like you really are a jumper! 🤙🤙🤙😊😊
i was 6 years old ... we where dirt poor so all i could do was dream, i am not going to buy one today ... i want that feeling from my childhood to remain ... pure - sounds weird i know. Videos like these are perfect though 👍
Thanks! Everyone should go its own way, if it's ok for him! 👍😊
Great video! Grasshopper was my first RC from the 80’s too, used my paper route money to get one...I just built one again for old time’s sake! Very inexpensive fun!
That's nice! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊
With its massive 380 motor, it was sure to bore any kid of the 80s to death.
And todays kids become stupid by the newest iPhones... 👍😊
Great shots of the suspension working.
Thanks Joseph! 👍
The updated Hornet was my first car in 1984. Had a complete Hornet/Grasshopper race team by 1987 and the hours we raced using real race times and races was as good as the real thing except thousands of dollars cheaper. Still into R/C except I don't have anybody to do it with me anymore. My whole crew has passed away already. Had too much fun I guess
Thanks for sharing your memories George. Sounds good! Nice you're still in the hobby! 😊👍
I had the Subaru Brat version when I was younger. Spent hours building it and loved that little truck.🙂
the Subaru Brat had the Frog chassis, which was far more powerful.
the only and just slightly better variant of the Grasshopper was the Hornet.
Good times back then! Thanks for your feedback! 👍😊
This video was 🔥. Makes me want to drive mine now!
Thanks Josh! Yes, have fun with yours! 😊👍
Such an amazing video!
Thank you so much Stevo! 🙏😊
Yup. My first car, period! Bought it at the Navy Exchange when I was in A school. It helped kill some of the home sickness! Cool vid.
Thanks! Yes, it brings back a lot of memories! 😊👍
Really nice editing and showing off this classic RC. I remember when this one came out but I was a kid and already had a Wild Will and a Rough Rider soI couldn’t get it!! Your video productions are always so good. Take care!
Thank you so much! Wild Willy and Rough Rider are great too! 👍😊😊
Your videography is second to none! Stunning shots.
Wow, thank you! 🙏 😊
@@Matteomeier You're welcome!
I had the Grasshopper with the slower standard 380 motor. I used to get hammered at the RC club!
Love the channel
Thanks so much! 🙏😊
Enjoyed that!!!. Great fun the hopper👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍 Thanks! 🙏
Matteo's RC Movies I’ve said it before.. If you take everything into consideration.. how many units they have sold over the years.. the grasshopper was the buggy that so many people bought to get them into the hobby.. it still sells today.. The grasshopper is surely Tamiya’s greatest ever buggy!!!!!!!!!!
Wow thats like the most perfect place to run a Grasshopper!
awesome video brother, love my grasshopper, still run it quite often;)
Good to hear! Thank you Bill! 👍😊
Immer wieder ein Daumen nach oben, für deine tollen Videos!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Und ich sag immer wider Danke für die guten Kommentare! 👍😊
Got mine for Christmas. Ran it Christmas day in the rain and mud. It was perfect..... untill dad washed it off with waterhose. That was that.
Maybe after drying, it works again...
Nice, The Grasshopper my first new RC car back in the days.😊 Had so much fun with it. Just like you do in the movie.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😊
Looks like a real car. Masterpiece!
Thank you! 🙏😊
Very cool video!
Thank you very much!
This was my second Tamiya RC back in the 80s and the first I saved money up for to buy. Really wanted a Frog but couldn't afford it. This it came with 380S motor but swapped it out for standard Silver 540. Still have it including my FAV which was my first Tamiya.
Thanks for sharing your RC history! 😊 Hope you still have fun with RC things! 👍👍😊
lot of memories with my first RC Galaxy buggy(differ name of Grasshopper) back in 80's. it was so fragile:) I had to change lower chass very often because fracture of front sus upper arm.
nice video!!
Thank you! Very cool to share your memories! 👍😊
Classic RC car from Tamiya. This was a fun build a long time ago when I was a teen. :)
Yes it was, nice memories! 👍😊
Great video as always Matteo! I had the re release, it was great fun!
Thanks for your great feedback! Glad to hear this! 👍👍😊
Superb video. love it.
Thank you! 😊👍
That was awesome!
Thank you! 🙏 😊
Wow, what a great video of one of Tamiya's most basic but best looking buggies, Nice one Mateo.
Many thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😊
This is my first RC @ 198x, I change that to a 540 moto , the result is crazy.
Yes, for many of us it was the first, good memories! 👍😊
Wow! Looks so cool! Love this video and this simple machine. Drives me to buy one too... 😉
Thanks Filip! Yes, I'm sure you would love it! Simple, but Tamiya spirit! 👍😊😊
Nice to see a Tamiya video again on this channel and non other than the classic Grasshopper! You do Tamiya proud! Can we expect a Hornet one next?🤔👍
That's the plan! But it's still in the box...👍😊
Ahh, good memories (I had a Grasshopper as a child)... Awesome seeing one in action all these years later. :-)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 👍👍😊
@@Matteomeier Oh, the nostalgia strings are being pulled hard now - I noticed my hobby shop has a reissue in stock. Bearings aside, I do have all the parts including a reasonably spicy brushless motor (which might be a little too much).
All the way through the 1990’s me & a friend were Tamiya Crazy!
Every single day at school all we did was look through the latest tamiya catalogues 😁 never ever doing any work.
Back then the ultimate car to have was TOP FORCE! It was good that you got to build most of the cars yourself, not like todays Traxxas & hpi etc....
Thanks for sharing your memories! Was good times back then! 👍😊
I would love to see a making of video! Your videos are amazing and i‘d like to see how you produce it and which equipment you use!
Great work!!
Agreed!
You kno someone is running, and out of breath too lol best vids.
Bonjour. Je serai également très curieux de voir un making off de tes vidéos. Es tu seul pour filmer?
Thanks for your feedback! Maybe one day! 👍😊
Wow, amazing video, I too want to start making some videos but having trouble getting started because not sure how to chase the car and keeping the camera straight. Please make a video on how to film 😁
I used a Grashopper and it's newer twin brother the Hornet and changed it into a halftrack. Very easy to do by attaching the tracks and drive sprockets of a Heng Long RC tank(can be bought separately without the tank). It's very easy to do and makes the off road driving a lot more easy and enjoyable.
Im sure this will be a crazy vehicle! 👍😊
Matteo, that was so much FUN!! 😁😎👍👍
Great memories of my Grasshopper back in 1985... Bouncy front end, NO Suspension movement in the Rear! 😲
Just a Classic, fun Buggy. Thanks my dear Friend!!
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Oh yeah! Thanks Carmine! 👍👍😊
@@Matteomeier Matteo, I hope to get another Grasshopper someday. Even if I don't run it...
So many Memories associated with that little Buggy. I even took mine on Tour, running it around before Gigs to calm the Butterflies in my stomach!! 😉
I really hate never having money anymore. I'm not trying to keep up with anyone, and I've been poor for so long, I no longer feel materialistic.... There's just a couple of RCs I'd love to get - again for Memory value.
It's so bad, that I've been trying to recreate my old Honda CRX with a M05 Chassis, that I've been Building... PIECEMEAL. 😲
I just need 3 more parts to finally finish it.
$37.00, and I'm completely frustrated because I CAN'T find a way to get it. It's depressing.
I'm sorry my Friend.... Just venting. I've made great strides in being resourceful with what little I have.
To be stalled because of $37... Is really depressing.
BTW, thank you so much for the very kind words and thoughts on my latest Video!! 😉😁 I really appreciate your support and friendship over nearly 10 years!!
Great video, beautiful camera work
Thank you very much! 🙏😊
Wow that was awesome Matteo! Thanks for the great slow motion.. Now I could clearly see what I always said about these hopper chassis is actually true, that under acceleration these hopper chassis cars rears pull the shock fully open and lock up and the rear suspension so it does not even work... at least the front suspension works on them. 😁
Thanks Steve! 👍 Yes, the rear end is nearly as there is no suspension. Anyway it's a Tamiya Icon and it's fun to hopping around! 😅😅
Reminds me of the old school Tamiya ads. So cool Matteo!
Thank you! 👍😊
I had one of these as a kid and it was a blast!! Purely for bashing!!
👍 Thanks for your feedback! Great memories are involved with these cars! 😊😊
It was my first remember that spring bounce.
Good memories! 😊👍
Been thinking of buying something like this to build with my son they look awesome 😄😄
Great video! It reminds me of the promotional videos from Tamiya.
Cool, thanks! 👍😊
I had an original one of these. I always thought the diffs were indestructible. Until I put a technigold motor in it. A dry lawn and six inches of rear axle hop blew the diff in a couple of batteries. I still have it and tons of parts 30 years later. Along with my original Bruiser as well. Great little cars and still one of my favourites.
Yes, great cars and great memories! 👍😊
With the cool music I thought Dirk Diggler was going to pop up at anytime.
Hahah, I had to google this Dirk... 👍😂
A good time to be sure. Really like like the way the rails protect the front and rear wheels.
Yes, good times back ih the 80es! 👍😊😊
Love watching those front suspension shafts pogo up and down.
As for the rear suspension... :P
Yeh I got pretty good at changing the rear axle casings on mine.
Yes, the rear suspension refused to work! 😂😂 Thanks for your feedback! 😊👍
