- Pt. Venkatesh Kumar performs the rarely heard Raag Deshkar with subtlety, sensitivity and beauty at the FEA-curated morning concert, Prabhati. Bharat Kamat on tabla and Ajay Joglekar on harmonium enhanced the performance with their attentive and delicate accompaniment. Tanpura and vocal support was provided by Shivraj Patil and Ramesh Kolkunda.

What a beautiful mood Panditji's rendition of this raga evokes. The tabla maestro's selection of the pitch and resonance of his instruments perfectly creates the rhythmic baseline on which the raga sails.
Great presentation of Deshkar by Panditji as expected. This raag is rarely heard these days. It really was a treat. Even though it has same notes as raag Bhoop but still it evokes very distinct emotions from raag Bhoop. Great job Panditli. Jitey raho!
Basically the swars of Deskar are uttarang pradhan with emphasis on dhaivat more that is pa dha, sa dha, ga pa dha pa ga etc, and meend between sa and dha. This belongs to Bilawal thaat and bhupali from kalyan thaat

Coincidently, Hemantha Kumar Kamath, we just held our Diwali concert today. It was a two-session (morning and afternoon) concert featuring Manjiri Asnare Kelkar followed by Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee. agreed. looking at the way he reacts, i think he's not genuinely expressing his feelings as well. simply doing that to show people that he enjoys it. There are some characters like that. I have seen so many people in that category. So it strikes immediately when i see one. If i'm wrong, pardon.

This is very very near to bhoopali!!!...... Only thing is there is standing and nyaasa on dhaivata in this raaga..... Otherwise the scale is same as bhupali
I wish there would be sarangi, so that most of the works(kaam) could be followed. With harmonium it's difficult to catch all the works (like shruties, murki etc). Sarangi hota to maja aa jata.
I was really loving this but have to stop in 5 minutes now because that guy smacking his lips every 8 matra is annoying AF!
Focus your ears and mind 100% on Panditji's music. Filter out the rest.
