    • Elvis Presley - You Ga...
Elvis Presley made television and entertainment history with his Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii concert, performed at the Honolulu International Center Arena on January 14, 1973. It was beamed live via Globecam Satellite to various countries, on a delayed basis to approximately thirty European countries and it first aired in America that April 4th on NBC in edited form. The American broadcast version included four "insert" songs that were shot just after the concert. In all, the concert was seen in over forty countries by close to 1.5 billion people, a global ratings smash. Never before had one performer held the world's attention in such a way. Aloha from Hawaii presents Elvis Presley at the pinnacle of his superstardom, giving one of the most outstanding concert performances of his career.
    Lyrics:
Born in the heat of the desert
My mother died givin' me life
Deprived of the love of a father
Blamed for the loss of his wife
You know Lord I've been in a prison
For something that I've never done
It's been one hill after another
And I've climbed them all one by one
Oh but this time Lord you gave me a mountain,
A mountain you know I may never climb
It isn't just a hill any longer
You gave me a mountain this time
My woman got tired of the heartaches
Tired of the grief and the strife,
So tired of working for nothing
Just tired of being my wife
She took my one ray of sunshine
She took my pride and my joy
She took my reason for living
She took my small baby boy
Yeah but this time Lord you gave me a mountain,
A mountain I may never climb
It isn't a hill any longer
You gave me a mountain this time
Yeah Lord, You gave me a mountain
    Don't you know
You gave me a mountain this time

Yes she was! With his karate instructor, Mike Stone. People piss me off when they try to find any little thing to tarnish EP’s image and memory. Priscilla was 14 when they met in Germany in 1959. She moved to Graceland in 1963 while still a teenager, they married in 1967, had Lisa Marie in 1968, and divorced in 1973. That’s a LOT for a very young girl to go through in a relatively short period of time. EP was gone a lot and because of his stardom she lived a very reclusive life. There were MANY reasons why the divorced … it wasn’t simply because EP was a “serial cheater.”

The Beatles had the same wish as the two of you when they came to America. A bunch of celebrities the likes of Sinatra wanted to meet them but there was only one person in this country they wanted to meet: Elvis. When they finally did, they were so star struck that they simply looked at him without saying a word and eventually Elvis said, "Well, if you guys don't wanna talk, I might as well go back to bed." This broke the ice plus the fact that Elvis started playing around with his bass guitar leading to a jam session. Oh, can you just imagine?! Also, if you didn't know, Elvis was John Lennon's hero.

When I first became an Elvis fan back in 1971 I saw the documentary film 'Elvis That's the Way It Is' and I could tell right away that this man had music flowing through his veins from his head to his toes. He said right from the beginning, when he was getting backlash from gyrating on TV, that if he couldn't move he couldn't sing. He just feels the lyrics and is THE BEST interpreter of songs you'll ever hear/see ❤

Definitely the G. O.A.T. and sadly “gone too soon” or “way before their time” unfortunately, just like many others but, he owned the stage and the audience, especially, the ladies. It must have been difficult staying loyal to your beliefs and values in a dog eat dog environment, of the music industry’s where most are “chasing the bag”. The movie is definitely worth seeing if you haven’t already. Enjoy your day and take care

I was just a little girl but I remember my parents letting me watch it from start to finish. It was aired all around the world live, if I remember correctly. I would have loved to have had the blessing to see him live. I have to be honest that whenever he sings some of these super strong powerful ballads I cry. To see his emotion and hear it is overwhelming to me. Very sad to see what fame did to him though. I cannot imagine not being able to walk out your door of your home without being watched. I dont believe in the stories that he faked his own death, but I definitely could never blame him if he did. So now he is happy and not in pain mentally or physically and he has his precious daughter with him once again but both taken far too young.🥺💔💔🙏🙏

Hi T & S, now that you've fallen in love with his voice, I'm hoping we can get you to react to some of his movies?? Maybe Matt can back me up on this, I'm sure he's seen them all also - the storylines were light it and it was a great showplace for his music. There are so many to choose from, so I'll start with a personal fav, G.I. Blues. Of course there is a beautiful leading lady and in this one it's Juilette Prowse. But if you're going for beautiful scenery it has to be Blue Hawaii. Hope you'll consider this! Enjoy!!

Very cheeky movies which he was forced to do. His real acting skills were found in King Creole, Jailhouse Rock or Flaming Star.

Remember Elvis was an actor too ...made 31 feature movies and two other ones ...one about his shows in Las Vegas and one about his tours

I remember grabbing my pillow as a little girl and plopping in front of the TV and listening to the opening beeping of the satellite sending it out to the world's largest global audience ever. Then seeing Elvis sing his heart out. I was 12 when he died and it really was a big shock to me who literally grew up with him and remember crying for him. More Elvis please 🎶🎵✌❤ when possible please do Elvis and The Black community 1 and 2.

Thanks for the reaction and Matt! Keep'em coming. Elvis sang this song at almost all his concerts from '72-'77. He really identified with this one. You mentioned the human side, have you all reacted to any interviews/press conferences? A great one is the one from MSG. PEACE!

There’s only one person that could pull off singing a Marty Robbins country weeper to a bunch of Hawaiians dressed in a red white and blue jumpsuit.

This is a cover. The original was by Marty Robbins, who also did a hell of a job with it. Elvis didn't write it, but he was a huge fan of Marty Robbins.

Elvis had just filed for divorce from Priscilla on his 38th birthday, a few days before this concert. They had been separated since February of 1972 when Priscilla moved to California with Lisa Marie after her affair with Elvis' karate teacher, Mike Stone (breaking up his marriage in the process). Elvis had started his relationship with Linda Thompson in June/July of 1972.

The Ramp that almost wasn't built: Producer/director Marty Pasetta told Parker he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no; Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to (Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis); Parker said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose 25 lbs., which Elvis did. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Imagine how different that concert would have been if Elvis didn't have the option to get in close contact w-his audience. HE would have been just as spectacular, but without the ramp the concert would have had a very different feel.
