+Aaron Smith yeah I read they didn't use any sound mix from the board, but I was curious what camera they use cause I've tried using my phone (iPhone 6s) to record stuff and it sounds nice but it's not amazing haha
got you! I record with my 6 and sometimes my first gen gopro (hahaha :() for my covers man. since it's all I have I really don't mind the iPhone audio. I think as long as you mix the song well enough in with your own audio you should be good! one tip I could pass on to you for recording with iPhones though is: test a few areas around wherever your kit is, and figure out which ones help your kick cut through well enough for it to still be heard with your music audio. that's the most common thing I see in covers without mics is that sometimes you aren't able to hear their kick at all and it just takes away from the cover in my opinion.
