I tried various classical guitars some had great resonance and timbre, some not so. Tried expensive models that were not partcularly favourable with me. A classical guitar expert in Kent said try the Alhambra. I did and settled on the 4P model. It's such a beautiful instrument with a beautiful colourful tone. What I wanted was that sound I'd heard only from certain classicals, I believe it's the Cedar top that does it for me.

Philippe plays and we (Alhambra USA) recommend D'Addario Pro Arté (standard or EXP) High Tension strings. Other tensions would also work well depending on your personal preference.

Beautiful video, even if it's 10yrs old.
Honest man, love your personality. Checked your Facebook and looks like you have gone to live with God. God bless you my friend. I think that's St Joseph statue behind you. 🙏

Beautiful guitar, beautiful sound and low price for all that! I love it.

The construction and choice of materials make supporting basslines to resonate like it's a fretless bassguitar. Flageolets blend in the harmonics instead of being 'sidenotes'. Low pitched resonance doesn't interfere or smother the mid- and highrange tones. Also, unlike many other (spanish) guitars with broader neck, the strings are not too far off from the fingerboard, which is perfect for smooth glides and rapid movements through the 'vocal' melodies. It all sounds so effortless!

The best sound I could get out of my 4P (cedar) was made using Savarez Chorum Aliance ARJ-500 . Also have tried D'Addario EXP extra hard (and many others), EXP achieved good results but Savarez Aliance treble are brighter, and the guitar profits from that extra treble energy... I find the tone of my guitar too dark and loud, it benefits greatly from the gentle Chorum basses and the powerful carbon trebles. That's the golden balance, in my opinion.

Just picked up a 1974 (Feb 26) Alhambra classical guitar. Believe it's a 4P model, but no indication on label. How can I tell, please? Thank you from NH USA (sweet sounding guitar, no matter what model it is...lol)

The 4P offers near to performance quality for the costs of a practise instrument, I think. I tried the 5P series, but no thanks. The 5P has more sustain, but not that many 'colors' to express different moods. The 4P offers more flexibility to a player who's style ranges from fingerpicking to latin grooves and from folkrock to classical. A perfect instrument to play virtuoso, in different tunnings without compromises. Excellent choice for anyone who looks for a affordable guitar.

Hi witch one do you think its the best for brazilian music like bosa nova Alhambra 4p with cedar or spruce top?

Mr Bertaud who plays some "latin" music, uses the cedar Alhambra 4p in his videos.
Alexander Vinitsky, who has bosa nova in his repertoir, uses Godin LaPatrie with what looks like cedar top.
