New technology always claims to be "industry defining" but the Wii was actually the real deal. Sadly no one seemed to actually understand what made it so popular and entertaining, not even Nintendo themselves. It's hard for me to believe that the Switch has now outsold the Wii since that console had such a massive impact, but maybe I just don't go outside enough idk. Great vid!

I was born in 1998 and you made me feel old. I still have my Wii that I got for Christmas in 2007, it's one of my favorite consoles ever. So many great games and memories on the Wii. I love mine and can't believe I've had mine for 14 years now. The Wii and Switch really are two of my favorite consoles ever, they're great consoles with great libraries.
My Wii is also from Christmas 2007, for a while it was set up in the living room but as I got older and became more in love with gaming it migrated to my room, it still has all the save data from every game my sister and I used to play!

I also still use the same Mii that I made back in 2007, I've transferred him to every other Nintendo platform that has Miis, even the Switch.

I would argue that Nintendo has always been fun on a budget, but yeah that statement doesn’t hold up as well as i think it would, if anything we could go back further than the Wii to see how Nintendo hasn’t cared about hardware output, the N64 used cartridges, the Gamecube had mini disks, Nintendo is still fun, but it’s getting harder to love them outside of their games as success can get to a company’s head very quickly, i just hope they later don’t come out with a Wii to Wii U equivalent to the Switch, and it’s not just Nintendo who’s slipped up, many companies get big heads and we’ve seen it happen, the ps2 to the ps3, the xbox 360 to one, the ds to the 3ds, the genesis to the Saturn, this just proves my point to how success can be a blessing and curse…

In my thoughts, Wii U was a okay console to play with all those gimmicks it had but like you said, its advertismets were thrown around like a hot potato and hardly explained what the f&#k it was. Wii U was an interesting experiment which Nintento held in their hands for 3 seconds and then dropped it shortly after.
Imma have to disagree on the statement that Nintendo should offer consoles at a higher power, people will buy and continue to buy for the games and features of the console such as JoyCons as long as the other companies don’t have that they’re not in the most direct of competition and with the steam deck it’s marked to older people while the switch marketed to 5 year olds, that being said the steam deck being “marketed” is an over statement. Plus it costs 500, and has no exclusives
Honesty a fair point, however I do think being so behind isn’t such a positive for the console because the switch is not trying to market towards 5 year olds, it’s kind of bad when there are systems that can emulated yours and do it better in some ways
