Making beauty: Noda Tetsuya

  • This series celebrates the work of living Japanese artists and craftspeople. Noda Tetsuya is an extraordinary printmaker, who since the 1960s he has been creating prints under the title ‘diary’. Now comprised of over 500 prints, these intimate portraits of everyday life evoke the interior world of an individual.
    This film series has been produced with the support of JTI.

    Just a heads up: a red bar at the bottom of the video's thumbnail makes it look like the video has already been watched for a youtube user on a PC! Might miss a video or two because of that.

      Yes, that caught me by surprise too. I couldn't remember having watched it before, so I clicked on it to watch "again".

    His works unify Japanese cultural tradition with international modern aesthetics. Even more so, his works are singular because they tap into the very core of individuality that is oneself; that very self-awareness is the universality that people can relate to. This is the precursor of Facebook and Instagram! The results are a unity of process and purpose, concept and content, form and function.
