    Beauty! I got a number of the 14's but no barlows. Great little knives, didn't think I'd like a knife that small but I really do.

      Thanks Darvin, I've always liked the 3 inch handle knives.
      & being a barlow lover, I really wanted to add the TC14, but I missed out in 2018 because they sold out so fast, So you can imagine my joy when I got a tip on where to get one at a decent price of $190 (these things are selling for $250+ on the secondary market). So, If I ever have to sell it someday, it will do extremely well.
      Take Care My Friend 🙏✌️

    I'd definitely keep hold of it even though the gap is there it is very minor and could be looked over for such a rare and cool looking knife, i do like the handle material too makes the pins and bolster stand out , great video as always :)

      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Lee, I'm definitely going to keep hold of it for now..I worked to hard to get it😁 And your right - there is something special about a black handle knife (whether it be wood or horn) that just gives it a classy look. The Taylor's Eye Witness Barlow I have in Buffalo horn you crafted does the same thing, exemplifying the polished nickel silver of the bolster & setting the pins apart from the handle material.

    If it was my choice, I would keep it. Like you said, you may not find another one. Also, thanks for giving us another look at that blue pemberton, for some reason I am really drawn to that knife. Cheers!

      Thanks David, after having the TC14 around for a few days, I can say without pause..It will be staying here with me👊😆👍
      You have made me take note of why I bought that Blue Pemberton in the first place - It is a cool little knife for sure & that Dark Blue Jigged bone is crazy cool. I feel I've been neglecting it! Well, until now - Thank You🙏✌️

    Funny how different the two #14s look! I think you just highlighted what I don’t like about GECs; a run of 207 is a limited run. Of course compared to Case limited runs of 2,500, that’s a small number, but if you add all the #14 runs together, there are thousands of them out there. Still, it’s a nice knife. I bought a GEC Barlow and traded it on before I even got it, for another GEC, which just might be a #14, but I can’t remember and I haven’t got it yet! A tale so bizarre, I’m not even sure I believe it, but I’ll tell it in full one day.

    • @Warthogg1
      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety +1

      Lol! I heard about the traveling elderberry barlow!! I'm not sure who has it now, only that it has been through at least 3 owners in it's travel's.
      The 14's are a nice little knife, I would consider them comparable to the "office knife", where light duty cuts are all that is needed.
      And of course, I love Barlows!
      so, in the Collection it goes😂
      There is a Golden Brown version of the Cripple Creek elderberry #14 I showed that is available & tempting me, but I'm still going to stay in pause mode for awhile longer.
      I paid for the TC14 back in June & it finally just arrived a few days ago✌️😁👍

    Hi, your wiser viewers (apply for the warranty) came up with a better option than mine, which was to keep it till you found another (unlikely), then sell the gapped one. Good luck with the warranty application process. Strange you sourced it from England - Customs got a double win both sides. Find it distessing with GEC that they are bought up by people purely to flip, which is kind of off-putting. Now I must research saltine crackers, for the salt must flow. As for jelly, not sure what that means your side, I came across some crab apple trees, so might make some. Take care and forgive my rambling, PS I like the ebony handles against the bolster.

    • @Warthogg1
      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety +1

      LOL Stone, Jelly is a form of fruit jam or fruit puree I guess you could say.. However, the texture of American "Jelly" is closer to gelatin than puree, (which we call "Jam")😂
      Yes Stone! The flippers really aggravate the knife enthusiasts' who truly want them for their collection or better yet, to carry & enjoy.
      Saltine crackers have great history! They were added to Soldiers' rations to provide much needed sodium & starch✌️😁

    @davids9549 Před 4 lety +1

    Yes, GEC do a small-sized pouch in addition to their standard size. I have one but none of my knives are small enough to fit! That gapping is uncharacteristic, but occasionally you do encounter an 'uncharacteristic' GEC knife. I return them at the rate of one in five (with Case it's more like four in five, and don't even get me started on Sheffield's offerings!). It's made me wonder whether GEC have 'factory seconds' - officially they don't, but unofficially? Hmm. Do you keep it or return it? Only you can make that call, because only you know which flaws you can live with and which you can't. Which flaws are (as Slick would put it) part of the knife's character and charm, and which are going to annoy the hell out of you every time you pick it up. For example, I don't worry about blade centering as long as it's not rubbing against the liner, but any blade wobble is an absolute no-no.

    • @Warthogg1
      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety

      Hey David,
      I do have the smaller GEC pocket slip, but I think it designed for a 3.5 inch knife & it doesn't quite hold this little barlow snug enough for my liking. It may be because it's slightly stretched out, since I use it for multiple knives, including a few "thick" Barlows I like to carry.
      I'll probably order another and use it exclusively for this knife if I decide to keep it.🙏✌️

    Gap between the spring and the liner is one, between the liner and the handle is another, you know? 😁

      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah, I know Zen - I just kinda wanted this knife to be perfect (like most GEC's).
      It is supposed to be the "mini-grail" of my barlow collection after all.

      Hi H.Chinaski,
      I've thought of that, since I am the original owner, The warranty should still be valid - I just don't know if they consider a minor gap as a issue to need "warranty repair"?
      I guess I could contact them to find out. I would definitely pay the shipping costs if they would repair it under warranty.
      Thanks for watching & reminding me of all my possible options😊👍

    Is that why the ebony knives are so much money? Because I have that knife in the spear point 14 pattern...... when it came I said what the fuck is this....... I will never buy a 14 pattern again they are way to small!!!!! Are yours real small?

    • @Warthogg1
      @Warthogg1  Před 4 lety

      lol! Pete the 14's & 15's were sold as "boys knives" with the 15's slightly bigger. I like to carry a small knife - I can pull it out at work without "some" co-worker going absolutely crazy. Just remember my friend, while the cool dinky knife is in my left pocket, there is usually something larger in my right pocket & possibly something even bigger than that in my back right pocket.
