The cause of tectonic plate movement is because of the convection currents caused by the magma under the earths surface, the tectonic plates came from the split of Pangea which was also caused by the convection currents under the earths surface. Earth quakes are caused when two tectonic crash into each other.which can also cause other things to occur but most commonly it is earthquakes. Edit: He’s just saying this to sound more scientific
