Patient Zero is an action horror film set against the outbreak of a deadly virus that threatens to wipe out the human race. We follow a group of survivors as they desperately try to find a cure for the disease and watch as they are slowly torn apart by the new highly intelligent and ravenous creatures.
Throughout this article, I will be discussing the plot of Patient Zero as well as the film’s ending. There will be heavy spoilers so it may be worth skipping this article for now if you want to go into the film with fresh eyes.
Patient Zero Plot Synopsis
The virus Rabies has mutated and is even deadlier than before. Highly contagious and now able to turn the infected rabid within 90 seconds, it seems that there is very little hope for humanity.
We follow Morgan, played by Matt Smith, his wife Janet and a Dr. named Gina Rose as they struggle to find a cure for the virus before it becomes too late. Morgan seems to be immune to the disease as he survived an attack which should have left him rabid. Instead, he now possesses the ability to communicate with the infected and holds the key to curing their affliction.
With Morgan’s new communication ability, the survivors interrogate an infected man known as Patient Zero. He is classified as this because he can speak and is unaffected by the music that has driven the other infected into a rage. He tells Morgan that the infected are evolved humans, a more advanced species that will wipe the lesser one out. He reveals that he came to the underground base on purpose and we discover that he is using a frequency detector so that the other infected can track him.
Patient Zero Ending Explained review
They begin to storm the base and a battle ensues between the survivors and the infected in which several characters die. Earlier in the film we learned that Dr. Rose had become pregnant after having sex with Morgan and this becomes the main thrust of the ending.
Aware that Morgan holds the cure in his blood, Patient Zero organised the attack as a way to kill him because he is a threat to the survival of The Infected. Morgan manages to kill Patient Zero, however, during the fight between the two he calls out for other infected. They rush to his aid and this puts the few remaining survivors in more danger. Morgan’s wife senses that Dr. Rose is pregnant and sacrifices herself in order to save her and the baby.
Morgan and Dr. Rose manage to flee the base and escape into the night with Morgan making the silent promise that he will do whatever he can to protect the baby and make sure that the human race survives.
It’s highlighted throughout that Morgan’s blood is the cure for the disease and therefore the baby will inherit his immunity. Some may see this is setting up for a sequel but I don’t believe that it needs it.
Whilst we don’t get a definitive ending for their fate, I personally took it as confirmation that the humans will eventually end the disease. Due to Dr. Rose’s closeness to the child, she will be able to properly study it as it grows and manufacture a cure. This will wipe out the plague or restore the infected back to sanity.

on the 2nd viewing of this movie, i started to feel like the movie itself was about so much more than just a movie on a viral contagion and those 'infected' and those still 'human'...i started to see this movie as making a commentary on where our society is headed right now...all the hate, anger, animosity and RAGE. When Morgan questioned 'The Professor'(Tucci) he stressed that humanity was destined for this RAGE that had been brewing from Day 1...he kept trying to tap into Morgan's rage in their 1 on 1 conversation, he mentioned certain racial, social, gender groups were the catalyst to why ppl were infected and that they were superior and EVOLVED...isn't that what others in the public eye pushing towards? Its ok to do this because this group of ppl are 'different'...We hear of terrorists and ppl just senselessly killing ppl JUST BECAUSE...all this loss of life....back to the RAGE. We are bombarded with images, messages, etc on RAGE on the daily...Are we losing OUR humanity? Are the characters in this movie that far fetched?

I LOVE THIS MOVIE
I actually like the movie, not for the relatively short run time, but because of the premise and cinematography. Main issue for me was each character was pretty stereotypical of their character archetype, like the soldier was a stereotypical jerk whose morals were questionable while the nice guy was entirely lovable, but that was really it. Other than the main protagonist there wasn’t much character depth to be found.
The infected professor was actually my favorite character, not just his in depth story, but his indifference towards everyone else and how he played with everyone to further his plan and consolidate the infected on the top of the food chain.
Personally i liked the movie i just didn't care for the ending, it was too short right when it starts to get good at that, the professor was the most interesting character should have left him alive

Error 87: The professor wasn't the infected patient zero. It was never revealed throughout the movie.
The stupidest thing of all Was having caged infected in a vault that escaped and killed women and children and families became the big let down of this film and I’m not the only one who distains this films outcome
Theres literally no payoff the start of the movie hiding from the infected with no cure and it ends the same way. 0/10 no tardis involved

I just watched the movie and it makes but they should've made it episodes like 1 season with 13 episodes it would've been way better more details on how it started you know
I dont understand the hate movies get now in days. Back when we were children there was God awful movies with horrible CGI. Anyways, I love Doomsday movies and this one had a pretty awesome story. Much more realistic zombies that run, instead of the ones that walk slowly in TWD and still manage to kill people lol I hope they make a second movie.

I don't understand, the premises was unique, the cast was killer...and somehow it turned out only okay...it should have been a homerun. I g they lacked character development. We barely knew these characters enough to care if they lived or died. A short scene with some of the survivors in the bunker so they weren't nameless, maybe where the doctor herself came from or just more of the main cast living and bonding before all the bad stuff goes down.
I think you can piece together enough backstory, the issue, I feel, was the movie abruptly ended. You felt like they were heading into the third chapter, but it ultimately just ended, unexpectedly.
@@matt_goes_crash the movie needed a twist, may be if it could rotate to zombies' perspective with their agenda and showing how to zombies humans are as bad as zombies for humans. Though it got too close to metaborders

I have just realized how much better are Doctor's episodes in compare to this movie. They are shorter, but enough time to introduce new creatures, develop plot and find solution, plus jokes, dialogs, monologs, time travel etc. In this movie, as Prizoner Zero adviced, they do not have time to spare for dull speeches.
Kind of scary actually considering scientists can now turn a molecule on in mice and rats that make them crazy aggressive.
Rage virus isn't far fetched at all. One would have to be very simple minded to not get the hint from Hollyweird. There's conspiracy about this stuff coming from space. Some call it the Alien zombie virus, black plague, doomsday virus etc. Probably mutated with this and a hint of Ebola. Makes sense when you think back about all sorts of zombies (slow an fast)
A lot less violence and a lot more intelligent conversation would have been awesome!
Infected professor "patient zero", stole the entire movie. Stanley Tucci (i think) is a great actor, underrated.

Great concept- they're like thinking versions of the infected from 28 days later. Too bad it got slammed by professional reviewers. I'd like to see another installment.

Because they were more enraged when that happened. It didn't necessarily neutralize them but anger and cause processing pain.
so let me get this straight, matt smith with his blonde companion who is named rose find a cure for a zombie outbreak, god damn this would have been one banger series, all thats left is a blue box thats bigger on the inside
It kind of didn't make sense. I'm watching some of it now. Apparently the main character was bitten and is taking pills to keep the infections down.... doesn't that make him patient 0?

I wasn't a fan of the movie. I guess my favorite part would be Morgan being psychoanalyzed by the professor. And that could have had so much more, but meh.
Overall it was a bad movie. While I don't like being spoon fed information, I dislike them not even attempting to give answers to big questions and big things. Or even attempting to really resolve the movie.
They had a vault, armed soldiers and a very cautious soldier, then two dumbassas allow zombie prisoners and killed everyone in the vault
The bike in the end was hilarious.

The professor was not patient zero. It was never shown who patient zero was throughout the whole movie. He can't be patient zero cuz he got bitten by one of the students where he was teaching and patient zero is the first one to get infected, so that statement is false, he's just another infected.

I personally love this movie and I see this as a hidden jem among other movies because of the fact that the so called zombies are smart and kind of have free will but I do love twd

Its a discount version of 28 days. Although, Stanley Tucci is one of my favorite actors of all time, so his being in the film brings it up from a 5 out of 10 to a solid 8.75.

It broke my heart that Janet could have been able to be human again, and I dont understand why Morgan cheated on her. He even said "I love you" to her (so many times). He always believed that she will be ok again but still gets the doctor pregnant? I mean... -.- what were he planning to do if so?, to keep both girls? Huh! men...

Secondly, he's in a bad situation, hasn't had sex in God knows how long, he's conflicted, the life in that bunker is dreadful... He shouldn't have cheated, but you try living in an apocalypse and always be "ethically good".

I love this movie
I wanted to get this and the resident evil but I can’t
wait, so the professor was patient zero? even though he was bit by someone else? How does that make sense? Or was he lying? did he tell all the others not to lie, to give a false presumption that it wasn't possible for the infected to lie....and therefore could get away with it when he did? I felt the story had a lot of potential... but did very little with it. Its one of those kind of movies where i think 'i wonder how much it costs to make a movie?'....because i think they did this on the cheap, even though some of the cast were reasonably big names.

movie was a-mazing 90% of the time, the end was kinda bad it was really dark and I couldn't hear it that well so if someone can reply to this comment and tell me what happened in the end that would be great thanks.

I spent most of the film sighing and rolling my eyes, muttering oh please.
The ending ruined the whole thing, as it didn't tie up any loose ends.
This video did not shed any light on anything, and served only to extend the amount of time I've spent on this film.

One of the worst movies I've seen. I'm a huge fan of zombie movies and watch almost anything i can get my hands on in that genre. But i have to say that this movie was utterly garbage. Plot wholes everywhere, sloppy writing. Main actor felt out of touch with the character he was portraying. I would honestly not recommend this movie to anyone. Don't waste your time on this piece of shit.. utterly useless as it is.
