I had no clue the robots were CGI. That was impressive overlay work. Cohesive lighting and toning...I loved this series.
Yeah me either, I thought it was actual practical effects!
Same, I thought it was some sort of puppeteering.
Oh my gosh! I thought the robot actors wore masks! Those are impressive visual effects!!
I could swear those were real practical robot masks. Never would I have guessed they were actually CGI 😱
We thought the same when we first saw this series.
Arturo Corella IV
ikr
that robot face especially Carl's, i thought it's a mask.
then i was thinking, how they'd make Carl's eye rolling like that...a remote or something?
turns out, it's a CGI...
great team and great work!
me too! I though only the eyes were CGI, and even that with a slight chance they could be real with a remote control (and CGI'ing the inside of it).
Season 2 PLEASE ! This was excellent.
This show hit all the marks! Music, acting, story. I hope they made money so we can see more of this world.
I still can't believe the "practical effects" are cgooi's. One of the best films out there. Super campy, but with purpose. :)
I love that I stumbled on this series. The actors, the CGI, and the look of the series was wonderful. I hope there's a sequel.
It is ART!!! You all are amazing!!!
Really impressive series. Can't wait for more. This BTS was even more impressive.
love this series.
great team.
i hope you guys are producing more great work like this.
I'm from Seattle and I had no idea that my favorite series was filmed here. Top-Notch job!
Always nice to see behind the scenes. Also, as an vfx hobbyist myself, very professional and impressive work. We need more, please
Glad we got to see the BTS of this great series!
Bravo everyone! Excellent job to EVERYONE!
Fantastic to see.is this something you'll be expanding on?
Loved the mini series
Ted Rooney was just so perfect in this role. :)

“Hi, I’m Silver Ball... you might recognize me from the Phantasm series... and my mom was a model for that one M.C. Escher painting, so I’ve always had art in my blood... so to speak, since I have no blood because I’m a silver ball...”
Where did they get the tech. to build these robots and yet they drive Model A ford car. It would be great to go into the factory the produces the AUTOMTA robots.
Awesome I love this series! Hope to see more! Also FIRST!
How did I not know this was filmed this in Seattle? I live downtown for Pete's sake!
i just now realized where iv'e seen those robots!! Sleeper by woody alan!! LOL
Amazing clip and excellent CGI. I saw the tracking markers hood etc. Where did you get it from? I've been looking everywhere, no luck! :-)
We made them ourselves!
To be continued ??
Lol yeah i totally thought masks were practical effects. i thought only the eyes were VFX
I'm of the weirdo camp.
Why is Doug Jones missing from this?
So, we got Dylan Smith doing the body... Doug probably just did the voice? He _is_ credited at IMDb as Carl Swangee. And Dylan is credited as Carl's body. I'm curious, too. Doug is very busy these days. If he just did the voice, it's likely that he just sent in recordings of his voice and wasn't around for any of the filming.
He was the voice for Carl, you can see him in studio recording in the Making Of video posted last week.
Oh, man! I missed that one! Thank you, Dust! :)
I really don't understand the whole "period piece" thing. Just...why? Probably because of my distaste for that, I had a lukewarm response to the series, but this was really cool and actually made me understand and appreciate it more. Kudos. That said, I couldn't help but be struck by the absolute lack of diversity in the cast and crew. Not a single black or brown person in sight. I'm not blaming anyone, but... that's sad.
Ryan Sawhill Aroha
Wow amazing. Make it about race. Consider the era and people available for the low budget show. Don't shoehorn someone In just for diversity.
