If you're moving from APS-C to FF and have a lot of APS-C lenses, buy an A7R(ii, ii, iv) camera. This way you'll still get 18MP pictures (A7Rii, iii) or 26MP pictures (A7Riv). This way what you create is still close to or better than your APS-C camera.
Such a good point Thanks for this!
Thank you for making me believe the bullshit I've been trying to convince myself of for not being able to afford and an a7siii. Even just bought myself a 16-50mm OSS e-mount because of you
Great video, thanks! I have an a7iii with 24-105mm lens. Going to try apsc crop mode tomorrow at the zoo. You have another subscriber.
Historically, most cinema videos were and maybe are still shot at Super 35 mode. On the a7ii, crop mode is similar to Super 35 mode. The 35mm film never used the entire film due to the tracks on the bottom and top of film. So the actual area where photos were captured was a fraction of the 35mm height, hence Super 35mm.
This is why I love this community. You guys always leave such informative things in the comment section. Thanks!
I have a question. If I take the shot using full frame mode, then manually crop it later. How's it different from using aspc mode? Which one has the higher resolution?
Can I use a custom key to change between full and crop sensor size on a Sony A7ii?
Great video, as always :)
Thanks. I'm trying to get better and more consistent. Your encouragement means a lot.
Cool, thank you bro..
Thanks for the video. Very informative! I've tried aps-c mode a few times but don't have too many reasons to use it. To me the extra reach doesn't justify the drop quality. I guess if I was using video, which I don't do much, it would make sense like you do eloquently explained. Thanks again and keep the help videos coming!
Thanks mac. I dont know about eloquently explained though. The words just didn't want to work. lol 😅

Crop mod with stabilization ??
Your a genius from Mars. Thank you Mr Brandons
shhhhhh...... people aren't suppose to know that. lol
Does the depth of field change when I use my full frame lens in crop mode
Yes, but not because of the cropping itself, it's because after the crop you have cropped what you see in the picture, so you need to move further away or zoom out from your subject to still get everything in frame, and because of that you will get a different DoF for the same picture, since moving closer / zooming in gives you more DoF
Thank you. Also love seeing black educational photography content creators. Subscribed.
