- A laptop with no display with black screen or blank screen on startup can have a few causes. In this case the laptop does turn on, that is when you press the power button there is some activity like led lights, but you cannot see anything on the screen since the laptop screen is blank or black. In this CZcams video tutorial I show you how to do some basic to advanced troubleshooting tips and steps to possibly help you fix your laptop.
There is always more than 1 reason why a laptop has no display, or black screen or blank screen, you should try all the steps in the video. In the end, if still unsuccessful, take you laptop to a
professional to have it assessed and possibly fixed.
If in doubt please consult a professional, otherwise do at your own risk.

I need help, I have a Asus x552l laptop, when I turn on the laptop, it has no display, it has a short "bzz" sound coming from inside the laptop. The laptop is working (I tested it with connecting USB to make a sound) , but no display, even connected to the external monitor. Any solutions?

The 15 second hard reset worked! I usually only do that until the light goes off. I can’t believe it was that easy! Thank you so much!

thank you, because of your video I got the general idea that it might be the ram,tried your ram solution but by switching it up several time still not fixed ,I searched other method that included the ram then I found my solution,it's the cleaning the golden part of the ram using clean cloth worked for me.This video leads me to other method therefore I thank you haha

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!, I happened to find your video after days without my laptop working and searching for a new one and my Canon 70D broke as well.
My laptop wasn't turning on. I could see a light from where the power cord went into charge. I decided to try one more thing and did what you suggested, unplug, take out the battery, press down on the power button for 5 seconds. Then plug back in.

Today is July 3rd. I just want to say thanks and thumbs up. I never thought of using a bright flashlight on the laptop screen. I did that and saw the start up issues. I did the automatic fix on start up, and it took care of firing up the laptop. The back light is out. BUT, external monitor is working perfectly. Now I have to replace the screen. Thanks again.

Great post, Although I don't think any of these great checks worked on the dell latitude until I left the RAMs out and installed the power, the laptop progressed to an error with flashing leds. I reinstalled all the RAM, restarted in safe mode and Bobs your uncle!

now i know what the problem with my lap top is but is gonna cost more than a new so ill just use the hdd for a external storage drive

I recommed taking out the WLAN MODULE as well - these things are known to fail during a sudden power loss. If the module is fried, Mobo will even refuse to spin the fan.

I remove the second RAM and it actually worked normaly, and i test that RAM on the other laptop but it same problem. So my RAM is died.

maybe the processor is overheating. Replace the thermal paste of with the new one.
@@zhanrivyn6802 i did that and fixed something else so now it stays on. But still there's no image, i'm thinking it might be the ram so i'll have to order slower ram and wait for a new processor to come. I'm just using trial and error now.

Thanks, swapping the memory slots worked. It seems only 2 out of 4 slots will now works on my laptop. Putting memory (even if i use one DIMM) in one of the two defective? slots will just get a blank screen for a minute and reboot. I now got system back working, but too bad it is now not running in dual channel mode.

guys if any of those methods don't work, just search the internet for your laptop model BIOS BATTERY location in the laptop and disconnect it.

Hi I have a problem with my laptop.
Let me share a brief history of my laptop.
So the flat cable died...i send laptop at service and guy told me it will be more cost-effective if I buy a new laptop then fixing the old one....when I pick up laptop I thought it would be smart just to connect to external monitor....long story short ... after a year of use, while I was at sleep my dog stumble on vga cable and disconnect it....so when I turn on laptop, monitor shows motherboard info, then windows loading (xp), then monitor turns off, but I hear windows is started(I hear intro sound and popup balloons).
I had disconnect then connect monitor. When is disconnected monitor reacts (it shows NO SIGNAL) then when I connect again monitor act like laptop is turned off (power indicator start blinking).
Please answer me ASAP....

wow thanks a lot for your help man I figured out that I could barely see something in the screen so I just orderd the parts (basically the screen) for my Lenovo IdeaPad 330 and hopefully that should be it I appreciate the video thank you very much
Alhamdulillah, it fix with my laptop, first it try to discharge electricity and then removing the ram stick, after that i put back my ram stick and the voila, the screen pop up. May Allah Blessed you and your family.

Actually helped so much. Turns out for some reason my ram's were working fine and all but had to do the discharge thing and swap rams... worked perfectly!

nice job ty. I've reflowed many laptops. the problem is the heating and cooling of different types of metals. This happens with all types of electronics. more of a problem with non-lead based solder onto leads.

Queen of Sabr right click on desktop, choose screen resolution, set it to highest resolution possible.
Nicely done video, for reference to HDD's; data can be easily restored from them, regardless if they are password protected, by Linux quite easily although the source/destination data mediums need to be same i.e. NTFS won't copy to EXT4.
