So basically William was losing sanity as his kids died, so after he killed Clara, he lost almost all of it, so without thinking straight he killed the missing children, but when he realized what he did he felt bad for other families and tried to save them, but it was too late. Cassidy's father was abusive and she knew William felt bad. After William escaped he went to the fnaf 1 location and spent some years there before he reunites with his family, and became a father figure to Cassidy.
