HDHMR board is a high-density high-moisture resistant board that is made from wood fibers and resin. It is stronger and more durable than plywood and MDF, and it is also more water-resistant. However, it is also more expensive.
Plywood is made from thin layers of wood glued together. It is less expensive than HDHMR board, but it is not as strong or durable. Plywood is also not as water-resistant as HDHMR board.
MDF is made from wood fibers that have been compressed into a board. It is less expensive than HDHMR board and plywood, but it is not as strong or durable. MDF is also not as water-resistant as HDHMR board.
Boilo board is a type of MDF that is made with a special resin that makes it more water-resistant. It is a good option for areas that are prone to moisture, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Ultimately, the best material for your modular kitchen or wardrobe will depend on your budget and your needs. If you are looking for a strong, durable, and water-resistant material, then HDHMR board is the best option. If you are on a budget, then plywood or MDF may be a better choice. And if you are looking for a material that is specifically designed for wet areas, then Boilo board is a good option.

I don't understand the why people are recommending HDHMR .. it looses the screw very quickly ..within couple of years ..+ it is 1.5 time heavier . Please tell me HDHMR is more denser than wood then also wood holds screw for ever ..HDHMR is a big health hazardous extream fumes .

    • @Houmeindia
      @Houmeindia  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

You're right, there are downsides to HDFMR (High-Density Fiberboard). Here's a breakdown of HDFMR compared to wood:
      HDFMR
      Advantages
Cost-effective: Generally cheaper than solid wood
Smooth surface: Easier to paint and laminate
Uniform density: Less prone to warping and bending
      Disadvantages
Screw holding: Can lose screws more easily than solid wood due to its denser and uniform structure
      Weight: Heavier than solid wood
Off-gasing: Can emit harmful fumes, especially if not properly sealed
      Solid Wood
      Advantages
      Strong: Holds screws well
Natural material: Doesn't contain harmful chemicals (if untreated)
Aesthetics: Natural wood grain can be appealing
      Disadvantages
Cost: Generally more expensive than HDFMR
Warping: Can warp or bend over time if exposed to moisture changes
      Maintenance: Requires occasional refinishing
      Why People Recommend HDFMR
Even though HDFMR has drawbacks, it can still be a good choice in some situations. Here's why some people might recommend it:
For applications where cost is a major concern: Kitchens, cabinets, furniture where aesthetics aren't a top priority.
For smooth surfaces: Easier to get a flawless painted finish compared to solid wood.
For dimensional stability: Less prone to warping than solid wood, especially in controlled environments.
      When to Choose Wood
Solid wood is a better option when:
Strength and screw holding are crucial: Load-bearing structures, doors, shelves that need to hold heavy items.
Natural look is desired: Exposed beams, furniture where the wood grain is a key aesthetic element.
Health concerns are a priority: For applications in children's rooms or areas with restricted ventilation.
      Alternatives to HDFMR
Plywood: More affordable than solid wood, offers good strength and screw holding, but may not have as smooth a surface as HDFMR.
MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard): Similar to HDFMR but less dense, so it might hold screws a little better. However, it can be even more prone to moisture damage.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific project requirements and priorities. Consider factors like budget, application, desired aesthetics, and health concerns before making your decision.
