My friends and I used to sing this walking on the way to Junior High School with each of us taking a different part of the harmony. I don't think we appreciated how great the music was in that time. â€ïž
There's something about your reactions that allows me to hear my favorite songs for the very first time again! Thank you, Jamel, for giving us this wonderful gift. â€ïžđ
I'm old enough to remember when the Doobie Brothers went in the Michael McDonald direction. Not everyone was pleased. I think it worked out ok. Those were the days when a whole album was great, not just one song. What a Fool Believes is one of my go-to songs forever!
Michael McDonaldâs smooth soul voice can also be found on Kenny Logginsâ âThis is Itâ, a song Kenny wrote to inspire his terminally-ill father. It was a huge, uplifting hit in its day, and I really think youâd like it!
Kenny Loggins' "This Is It", "Heart to Heart" along with the Doobie's "Minute by Minute" and "What a Fool Believes" are all Loggins and McDonald collaborations.
Doobies were my dad's FAVORITE!! My family will be seeing them this summer in his memory. Your reactions have brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for loving them just as he did!
"Difference between hearing a song and listening to a song..." Amen. that is the very truth. Active listening is what you are describing, and it is powerful.
Tiran Porter on bass, btw. He sure knows how to underpin the melody , doing his thing yet never overwhelming anything. One of my all-time favorite bass players.
I know people say its just because I am getting old (48) but I stand by my word that the 70's & early 80's produced some of the best music ever. We had to wait for the vinyl album / CD to be released, walk into town to physically buy the product then sit at home in comfort and listen to the whole album as it took us on a journey. None of this quick, any quality will do, listen as i sit on the bus one track is all I like rubbish, it was a journey and to me, its part of my life as such. Hard to describe but I guess some of you know where I am coming from.

The Doobie's had planned a 30 date tour this summer from June through Oct. This to celebrate their 50 year anniversary. It was so popular they had added 23 dates. Now this damn virus. I love this band.
Actually Michael's photo is just after Bobby Hatfield's (The Righteous Brothers). :-) I do believe he earned the moniker "Blue eyes soul" first, several years before Michael came onto the music scene. I remember when I was a kid in the early 70's, my uncle used the term to describe Bobby & his iconic 1965 version of "Unchained Melody". One of my all time favorite songs from Michael is his 1986 duet with Patti LaBelle for "On my own".
When Tommy Johnston left the Doobie Brothers And they hired Michael McDonald as a Singer/piano player I didnât know what to think. The music that came out during these years was unbelievable. It was a big change from what I was used to hearing with the Doobie brothers but, it was a good one. His voice is unreal.
I got to see the Doobie Brothers Reunion Tour, 11 Doobies on stage! It was fabulous. Every song had the big fat sound of two drummers, four horns, guitars, bass, Mikey on piano and unbelievable harmonies.
You know Boz and Michael and Steely Dan did a concert together look it up!! But Look what youâve done to me actually the hit from Urban Cowboy with John Travolta! Love Boz Skaggs
terry fonz Thatâs amazing. David Foster wrote the song, his wife was on âThe Real Housewivesâ and I didnât know who wrote it until I saw him play it on the show.

What a voice. I've loved Michael McDonald forever! Sat at the table next to him in a Santa Barbara restaurant many, many years ago (25?). He was so handsome I couldn't stop peeking a look. He finally caught me and smiled sweetly and said hi. So cute.

Saw Michael McDonald and Doobie Brothers open for the Steve Miller Band in the early 90âs at the Pine Knob in Detroit. Both bands were magnificent. Best concert ever!
Between 1977 & 1982 it seemed that Michael McDonald was on EVERY record on the radio, he was everywhere: Doobie Broâs. & solo. Backing vocals on Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Ambrosia, Christopher Cross, Robbie Dupree & many more. So great, sooo smooth.

Michael's voice and keyboards, really gave the Doobie Brothers a whole different sound. I like all the Doobie Brothers music, from day one.
That ainât no auto tune on their voices.
Roscoe p Coltrane we know that's rite. NO AUTOTUNE they sound GREAT
