    On the Tigers one, Iglesias instantly conceded and didn't even try to turn a double play when taking a throw for a force at 2nd. I believe a run scored on the play. It was a little weird. McCann is a bit of a hot head, but he was right to say something in that case.

    • @Ffollies
      @Ffollies Před 2 lety +1

      But sometimes there's a judgment call by the first guy turning a potential double play to not throw to first because he's pretty sure the runner will beat it and it's not worth the risk to throw. Maybe Iglesias was thinking that and McCann though he should have tried. Doesn't necessarily mean either one is wrong, just a difference of opinion.

    • @slyjokerg

      @@Ffollies It wasn't merely a difference of opinion in that case. I was watching the game. There was a decent chance of turning two. @@Ffollies I just found it. He didn't even really hold it. He instantly flipped it back to the pitcher, sort of like he didn't care if they turned a double play. They may not have gotten the DP, but he didn't even consider it. I love Jose. He is one of the best SSs I have ever seen, but the way he handled that play was bizarre, and unlike anything I have seen before, or since. Here is a clip of it... ignore Harold Reynolds claiming he did it because he was mad... Reynolds is a moron who rarely knows what he is talking about... a babbling idiot. @@jimwerther - Of course, Steve Garvey played 14 seasons for the Dodgers and Reggie Smith played 6 season with the Dodgers and only two of them; 1977 & 78, were really great seasons, but over the length of their entire careers Reggie Smith was the more impactful player. Also, in 1977 & 78 it's debatable which of two was more important to the team. Smith was the better hitter but Garvey had more AB's and he played in every game both seasons. Smith missed 14 games in 77 and 34 games in 78. If Garvey hadn't been fixated on trying to get 200 + hits every season he might have become a truly great hitter instead of just a very good one.
