- Hello My Lovelies,
In today's Sewing Project, I'm travelling back in time to sew a blouse with a yoke out of some lovely Liberty of London Tana Lawn cotton. I've adapted my favourite pattern to have a yoke and there's an additional tutorial covering how I sew the yoke using the Burrito method, As well as one showing you how I sew a French Seam.
I'm using the Simplicity 8447 pattern which I really love!

On the subject of spenny fabrics, having recently bought my very first spenny fabric, I think it’s better to have one fabric you love, than 5 fabrics you just like.
I completely agree ~ it's the way forward!
The nice thing about Liberty fabric is that it's timeless. If you love it now you'll love it in the future.
You are totally right! Thank you!
I bought this pattern for the shirt, opened the pattern, and immediately got nervous because it's so complex compared to my standard makes. This video is such a help. And that fabric is beautiful and elevates a "work style" shirt so much. Thank you so much. Immediate follow.
I'm so glad you found this useful! It's a fab pattern once you feel happy with it! Happy Sewing!
This looks like it inspired Friday Pattern’s Patina Blouse! Now I’m gonna hafta make gathered shoulders on that pattern to match this!
Lovely shirt, I have this pattern but much prefer the look of the shirt with the yoke 👍
I love the way this pattern can be adapted! A very good buy!
Thank you for your hints and inspiration! Have a lovely day!
You are so welcome! And thank you!
You inspired me to finally purchase this pattern that I’ve been eyeing for two years! and I completely agree… Quality over quantity whether I’m buying new or vintage fabric💗
And you made such a fabulous version!
What a gorgeous blouse in a lovely fabric! 🖤
I’m starting to go down the past collections Liberty fabric rabbit hole and I feel it has no end 😂😅 I always want to save my gorgeous fabrics for fancy projects that end up having very little wear. I need to make more lovely day-to-day pieces with it!
Thank you Lovely! And yes ~ making some favourite items in special fabrics is really a game changer! Let me know what you make!
I love this blouse, I most certainly agree with having fabric that is amazing to use and wear, than 5 types of fabric that is meh...
I wanted to say I'm just starting with sewing, and seeing as many different combinations you have made with this pattern is simply exciting, I love the yoke on this... and the burrito technique... you look fabulous in this blouse... 🥰
How exciting to be at the start of your sewing adventures! And thank you for such lovely words!
Simply beautiful x

I’ve just bought this pattern can’t wait to make it up love your makes.
Ah that's lovely to hear and i hope you enjoy the pattern as much as I have!
With so many females having and/or walking dogs the attractive blouse with jeans is a fashion waiting to boom. Also, Air conditioning gets more expensive every summer. The basic camp shirt pattern that can be altered easily into a cuter look is totally missing from the catalogs.
Beautiful shirt! I have that pattern and I bought it for the overalls without realizing that it has such a great shirt pattern too. I need to get some fabric and make one too.
I bought it for the overalls and have never made them!
Question: I am working on a 1960s-style velvet coat and I was wondering if there is any risk with not interfacing the collar. It's a peter pan collar and doesn't need to be stiff. The coat is also pretty drapey like a 20s coat. Does the interfacing provide support to the collar so it doesn't get distorted or is it just to make the collar more stiff? I don't really know. Just thought I'd ask since you mentioned not interfacing this collar.
Sorry to be getting back to you so late ~ comments don't always appear on my dashboard! I would use a stitch in intefacing for your velvet collar so it doesn't distort and calico was commonly used in this way in vintage garments I have worked on. Intefacing collars can be used to give structure and/or to prevent distortion if the cloth is softer. I generally use calico for denser fabrics and organza for light weight fabrics. I hope that's helpful and good luck with your coat!
@@TaraDeighton Thank you! This is good to know for the future. I ended up using a vintage stitch-in interfacing made from linen. This stuff is harder to find so I'm glad I had enough.
