There's still a few Chaoshan houses architecture in Chinatown, Jakarta. Those Gables really caught attention, when I saw it. But I know nothing about it. So.... Thanks for sharing a knowledge about those Gables, Yanyan.
Interesting how the Chaoshan and Hakka people always live side by side. If you look at West Kalimantan, Indonesia you will also find Hakka people living in the northern part of the province (the hilly area) while the Teochew lives in the southern coastal towns (the flat plain area)

Oh Wow, the conference would be held in Longnan? That would be fun. It's where I started to get to know Hakka. I read about the conference in Meizhou Hakka Museum but know little about it. Is it a Hakka exclusive conference or non-Hakka also gets invited?

looks like chaozhou people , recreate asean even thailand. Singapore rise is also due to mostly chaozhou people.
Canton people are mostly westernised. Canton also known as yellow region.
No wonder, zhang clan rise. Lee likely is not chaozhou. But chaozhou people are highly connected , in south of china.
Chaozhou people are mostly buddhist.
