The funniest part about Baby You Can Drive My Car is that it was just about sex and there was no car, either.
??? music is truly incredible
So is irony
Lmaooo I know
Also its not even called that its just Drive My Car
Me So Horny also has some sexual undertones to it.
I love them for the same reasons I love The Ramones. They made catchy, fun tunes that had an edge but they didn't take themselves too seriously. They had very NYC-style humor. They both agreed their music wasn't about anger but fun.
@@thisisnotabox STFU
What did they have to be angry about they are white.

The album he was talking about recording at the beginning would end up as Licensed to Ill, which had Fight for your Right. So I guess he ended up being right about writing a classic song.
"Paul Revere" is the one tho
Cop's with batons. Yeh I'd say so.
"If it's free, then I ain't stealin' it."
PBS never stops impressing me
This is the kind of risk and creativity you can have with a public broadcaster. They don't rely solely on the profit motive. Good luck getting a series as profound and original from a corporation.
Four songs used:
Paul Revere
The New Style
Slow Ride
Hold it Now, Hit it
D3STROYER No.1 Should be top comment
Will Smith came across his rap persona in a similar way to the Beasties - while being angry and street was undeniably the sound at the time, both Will and the Beastie Boys chose to embrace the real beauty of hip-hop music, which is the sincerity. Will Smith told charming, silly, childish stories in a charming, silly, childish way, and he went on tour with Public "Motherfucking" Enemy. The Beastie Boys decided to be the best kinds of class clowns - the guys whose jokes and sarcasm comes with a weight and a consideration of the world around them, because that's who they were as people. Don't forget that their biggest hit, "Fight For Your Right (To Party)" was a sarcastic teardown of hard-partying 80's bro culture that they refused to play live from 1987 onward, once it became apparent that most people weren't in on the joke.
Will Smith is far from "real hip-hop". He conformed to pop music. The Beasties Boys made pop music conform to them.
+exabez if that was the case, a legend like DJ Jazzy Jeff would've never been as Influencial as he ended up being.
This clown really wrote a essay comparing Will Smith to the Beastie Boys. I know this comment is ancient but I have to say that you are a fucking idiot. 💀
@@janglyjohn4635 Will Smith was very poppy, but him and MC Hammer broke hip-hop into the mainstream. Even the dudes in NWA loved Summertime.
*I was blessed to be a 90’s teen and see the Beastie Boys three times.* One of which was at one of the Lollapalooza festivals. They were one of the first artists I saw that were very politically and socially conscious. They moved away from the type of content they did in the very early days and evolved. It was cool getting to see them live.
when i get my chill, i'm chilly chill....
"It's like, we like hot butter on our breakfast toast and we also like def jam on it." Amazing.
- Albert Einstein
I read that as a rap verse
Like hot butter on breakfast toast.
I'm gonna use that phrase
that intro kills me
"probaley"
The Beasties Boys were one of a kind. What an amazing career they had.
Q:Can you think of a stupider name than Beastie Boys?
A:Foo Fighters
RavnerRavner You don't know shit.
RavnerRavner The germs the butt hole surfers limp Bizkit smashing pumpkins
RavnerRavner I'm a Foo Fighters fan, a huge one, and I'm laughing at how these other guys don't get the joke lmao
TERPS FAN 22 butthole surfers is a great name, and how exactly is smashing pumpkins a stupid name?
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Holly crap! "Rapper's Delight" quote @5:19!!! EPIC!!!!
It is?
Really? Hm
The Beastie Boys are the only white rappers I have ever liked. They knew the true roots of the music (JAMES BROWN) and knew how to stay true to a genre of music but most importantly make hit records while staying true to the genre. A lot of people will either make hits or stay true to the genre but it's essential to do both.
Little Jimmy Scumbag Man these days the majority of black rappers sucks, i listen white rappers that are really good, it's obvious that there are more good black rappers... but i think you just commenting with not know very much of rap...
What about Em, R.A. the rugged man, Mc serch
arguably Eminem hasnt been that great since the eminem show, MC serch is good and RA the rugged man is decent at best nothing too spectacular.
White guy invented rap. Who? BOB DYLAN IN 1965
in the song Subturanean Homesick Blues. Check ch check check check check it out.
@@nasirmarcelandrews7653 Eminem was great, but he's being in decline for a long time now
can you imagine preferring Madonna over the beasties????
Merely
only if i misplace my brain.
ikr
It was the 80s Madonna was hot shit at the time.
If that were today, it would’ve been Billie Eilish and OFWGKTA(if they were still together and edgy af)
i like both
i love the beastie boys so much!!! they helped me get through so much
RIP MCA
Recursive backronym alert: In the liner notes to "Some Old Bullshit" they claimed that Beastie was an acronym for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Internal Excellence" . Incidentally, Kate Schellenbach of Luscious Jackson was one of those boys.
If I had a band with a meaningless name and people were always asking me what it meant, I would start making shit up too
As a fan from the beginning, seeing them animated in this way makes me think that this band could've been "The Gorillaz" before they were a thing.
One of the best interviews I've ever watched. Been a fan since '87 and never seen nor heard of this. Good stuff. Great to listen to MCA's voice again in something new to me. Thanks for the upload.
Awesome.
RIP MCA. We miss you.

Good to know they had some old musical influences like the Beatles
I really enjoyed that!
This is fucking amazing. Thank you for posting this!
This series is brilliant.
thank god for the beasties
This is really incredible.
Great work.....
A fan of your series. I wonder if you could do one with Bruce Lee's lost interview with Pierre Berton or the audition taping for The Green Hornet. I have a link to the video on Vimeo for your reference.
Thanks!
I think I know the venue they’re talking about! I know for a fact here at the Virginia Beach ocean front, there are actually laws about excessive profanity in a public place.
I like these pencil drawn animated interviews. Y'all started a new culture style here on CZcams!
I absolutely love Mikes cartoon.
THANK YOU!

The reply was rude enough for me to unsub. Sorry, I just expect better from a channel like this.
I'm sure they are really hurt.
Sad I have to wait another two weeks for the next installment!
