I dont think its too small, but had they did a 38mm, it would have been the perfect sweet spot IMHO.

    • @jazzman5598
      @jazzman5598 Před 2 lety +3

Almost any watch below 38 mm is either listed as a “woman’s watch” or at best, “Unisex”. I just got a gorgeous post Invicta Glycine Combat Sub. I asked my wife if she would wear a watch with “Combat Sub” on the dial. Nope. It’s exactly like the pre-Invicta Sub except it has a Sellita SW 200-1 (mine, out of the box runs 3 to 4 seconds a day fast). It is my most accurate mechanical watch. And the old Glycine had drilled lugs and this one does not. Nor does it have crown guards (yay!) , is a 300 M diver. And…..36 mm! A wee bit of a baller….two tone stainless and rose gold plate, head and bracelet. All delivered to my door, TT&L < $500.00 USD. The vendors call it a “women’s watch”…..hmmmmm….. Rolex just put out a new “MEN’S WATCH”…..hmmmm…..let’s see…..oh yeah, Rolex calls it an “Explorer”……in 36 mm, lol, 🤣

They initially did a 38mm with a date window and a more basic quartz movement. Same case and indices. But a strong sunburst silver/steel dial which, given that it already had a polished case and indices, is a bit blingy (unfortunately). Even a more subtle sunburst would have been better.

Such a cracking little watch! On the right strap this looks by no means like a ladies watch. It still has the exceptional high quality handset with that blued second hand and the razor sharp polished dauphine hands. I really enjoyed the review!

I just ordered this one! I wanted to try a 36mm watch, and I couldn't turn this down for the price. I would've chosen the yellow version if it had a blued hand, but the off-white looks good as well.

So I fell in love with vintage Seikos and bought a 61GS last year. I’m so glad to see that there’s a enough demand to warrant an homage because the case design is very special. I want to order one as a daily wearer as my Seiko is pretty fragile. I can’t tell from the video but the lines don’t look very crisp and there doesn’t seem to be any brush work on the facade. Is that true? Regardless, it’s lovely and for the money, I think I’ll order a couple of them.

  • @KabobHope

That's a great movement for the price. I generally hate quartz because of the annoying tick, but I like this watch because of the vintage size, smoother sweep and pleasant dial and yeah, it's a unisex watch.
I have another watch with this same movement and have had no problem with it.

I'm old. I lived thru the 2000's, with the 45mm pie-pan watches, but I always thought they were too big for the normal person's wrist.
A watch should tell you what time it is without calling attention to itself.
Lately, I've been buying vintage watches in the 33 to 37mm range. They look elegant and do their job without saying "Look at me."
Remember that the Marines and fighter pilots of WWII wore 34mm watches. They were not worried about looking "Manly."
This looks like a great watch. I'll probably buy one. Tasteful size without vintage problems.

LOL!!! White dials on both sizes are gone... again and again! Luckily got mine (40mm) on the 2nd bunch produced. Anyways, i'll totally agree with you on the movement usage, should be a must.
As for the watch, if Escapement Time listens us (i'm sure they do), i'd like to see two things, firstly and mostly change the hands (yup, i said it!), not in shape rather in form, meaning a central bevel, not this flat shaped with two bevels on sides. Secondly, guess it would be nice to polish the inside of the case, a mirror polish would make the indices (and the printed minute markers) reflect on that, watch will fly even higher in total looks after that. None of these two changes is hard... Please ET (...phone home...!🤪), do these, we'll buy again and again, you know right! (...maybe i'm nitpicking, but i love this watch!)
Thanks for the honest review Steve, be well mate, enjoy (both?). Cheers.
PS You need some perlon starps mate, vintage and timeless, totally for watches like this, but many others too. And not as stupidly ugly and bulky as natos... IMO, always...

It would be nice to own more than one of this, the classic white dial is a must IMO then another colour way too.
