낭만적 감흥의 풍경이 펼쳐지는 일본 홋카이도 서부 지역 오타루에 있는 운하 Canal in Otaru Hokkaido

일본 홋카이도 오타루의 상징이라고 할 수 있는 오타루 운하는 저녁 으스름에 레트로 감성의 낭만이 깃듭니다. 메이지 시대부터 쇼와 시대 초기에 걸쳐 유통의 거점이었던 일본 홋카이도 오타루의 운하는 점점 증가하는 화물과 배를 수용하기 위해 1914년부터 조성되었으며 길이 1,300m, 폭 40m의 규모로 1923년에 완성되어 이후 작은 배들이 운하를 오가며 오타루 항에 정박한 배와 창고로 화물을 날랐습니다. 지금의 운하는 운송 수단으로서의 기능이 쇠퇴했지만, 예전 모습이 남아 있어 세월의 흔적과 함께 한 폭의 그림과 같이 낭만적인 풍경을 만들어 내고 있습니다. 운하 주변에는 오래된 역사가 고스란히 녹아 있는 당시 창고와 은행 용도로 사용되던 중후한 건물이 현재 레스토랑과 공방, 상점, 박물관 등으로 개조되어 옛 시간을 간직하고 있습니다.
We take a walk on the trail of canal in Otaru City, Hokkaido, Japan. The canal was constructed in 1923 for freights transportation by ships and now became a famous tourist site in Otaru.
