I'm a heart transplant recipient. I know nothing about my donor other than he/she saved my life
It would’ve been a she. Your gender and the gender of your donor must be the same for heart transplants. Not for all transplants, but for hearts and some others.
@@josephine.france5 I think blood type and a few other factors are all that matter. Plus I'm 5'9 so I can fit mansized organs

Register as an organ donor and let your friends and family know about your wishes, so there's never any confusion. I've been registered since I was 18 and my family have known my wishes since I was like 14/15
In France now you are a organ donor UNLESS you said you are against it.
@@SabchaneRose that's reverse psychology! It must work well
@@SabchaneRose Same in Wales where I live, it's automatically registered, with the option to opt out. That happened like 10 years after I turned 18 and could register
I'm all for it personally because it can save people
We are also an organ donor automatically in England unless you request not
*husband dies.*
Doc: GIVE ME HIS HEART.
It has to be quickly or the heart won't work
That's because, the heart was need as quick as possible. If actually listen to they way the speak they u know that they don't like doing this at time like that
I get why they needed it but one of them could atleats have stayed and consoled her 😂 not just "K thanks bye"
MineWit it’s not disrespectful if his wife is helping another human being live
If you were the person needing that heart to live you wouldn't be saying that
"Crash survivors BARELY make it."
Um no??? One of them literally dies???
But his heart does make it. I guess that’s what they were getting at. Lol love the twists with these titles.

Exactly what I thought too mate!
But it’s important a failing heart can be lethal if there’s no other heart to transplant then well to persons are fucked u can’t run machines for ever u know the longer you wait the higher the risk
Some organs need to be harvested quickly after brain death to maintain viability of said organ. And if you're not registered then the task of consent falls to the next of kin, which in this case, is the grieving wife.
its needs to be quick, dont judge
Title: crash survivors barely make it
Me: one made it pretty easy and the other one died so I don’t get how they “barely made it”
If you add them, and make them one pacient then the math works out
Yeah, he barely didn’t die, so yeah, barely
Edit: and also, the guy who’s hear he got probably also almost survived
They meant that his heart was still beating that's why it says barley
I don’t see how she had it easy
AnasAnas14 if you didn’t want spoilers then why were you scrolling through the comments?
I was touched by this episode. I can't imagine what pain one goes through when they fight with a loved one, not knowing it'll be their last day. The woman had a big heart and mature mind as even in trauma after hearing the news she agreed to donate his heart or in many places today few people are not willing to give.
I know it’s just a show but wow my heart 🥺 cried a little when she was so selfless and gave his heart right after finding out he was dead. Imagine how hard that would be in real life
Bronagh Wall I said it was SELFLESS not selfish
@@gia-abcd oh yeah soz miss read it lol soz it was like 3 in the morn
@@gia-abcd i edited it now
To be honest i think it would be very easy for me to say take what you need and can use but saying that im a huge believer in organ transplant and think its a waste to allow those precious organs to rot or go up in smoke, when my daughter was born very premature we were told she had less than 5% chance of survial the first thing i said was if she dies use anything you can to help others her stem cells from her and her brothers placentas were used and i insisted if she died she was to help anyway she could shes survived and has just turned 18 🙂 we are all going to be organ donors when we die 🙂💕
@@annied1827 yeah, I don't understand why so many people say that it's somehow a hard decision. It's hard dealing with the death of a loved one. But agreeing to their organs to save others' lives after they're already dead and can't be revived, shouldn't be that hard - it makes no difference to the dead love one and it seems highly immoral to me to basically choose NOT to save other people's lives when you're given a choice to save them or not save them - there's literally no reason NOT to save them and condemning people to die is horrible, so doesn't seem like a hard choice to me.

That poor woman. She lost her most beloved husband. Though maybe, she can ask the heart recipient if she can listen to her husband's heart once more.
Does any one else feel the pain in your chest but doesn’t cry?

𝕐𝔼𝕊
I still feel like they didn’t handle the situation professionally
Yes there was a patient who needed an organ , but you can’t just deliver bad news to family in an open setting with the door wide open and no privacy .
And less then a minute later expect her to choose whether or not to give consent to donating her husbands organ .
I know it’s a medical show but i feel they lacked empathy 🤷🏻♀️
Zahra Alhabib it’s realistic , the heart transplant had to be done there and then
Zahra Alhabib i understand your emotions but think about it this way..isnt it better to keep the heart “alive” in someone else’s body than having to bury the loved one entirely?? Also, as far as empathy is concerned, not giving a heart means causing another person to die! Isnt it noble n wise to just save whoever we can ?
I thought the same thing for a hot second but realized that the man needed the heart in such a situation it makes more sense that they had to ask for her permission because th transplant had to be done as soon as possible for reasons of keeping the heart healthy and probably the situation of the other patient
3 people came into the room to tell her, yet once the got their answer they all left. You’d think there’d be someone available to stay with her, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
It was an emergency

This is so sad imagine your the guy and hearing your wife say "I don't love you" right before you die *this is heartbreaking*
THIS. This is why I ALWAYS say I love you when I walk out the front door. I'm 20 and still living at home, but I make sure to say bye and "I love you" not just "love you" to everyone before I walk out the door. Heaven forbid I get in a t-bone accident and die on impact, and the last words I said to my mother were "seeya" or "ill be back in a couple hours", nope, not good enough for me.
some people say they're going out for milk.
I don't know if it is different in the US but in Germany and most other EU states this wouldn't have happened. First of all: whoever gets to decide about a patients organs has to be calmly and professionelly informed about how it will happen. The doctors have to give this person time to decide. Usually 2-3 days.
Second: you can't decide who is getting the organ. There is a list of people who need it, with their information. They take the highest one on this list that fits. It ensures anonymity and that the ones who need it most get them.
Third: people usually say their farewells before transplants are taken out. And are most definetely not informed where the organ goes. No names no hospitals nada.
ok listen its just people acting so its not gonna be like it is in real hospitals so stop thinking u know everything when u clearly don't
@@lilymorris1427 do you have some sort of problem? I was comparing this situation to the one depicted, not the reality, as I stated very clear in my very first sentence that I don't know how it is in the US. I did this because the situation depicts what some people fear about donating and what is considered dangerous for the reciever. Of course I know that whatever is shown here isn't real, I never said otherwhise. Stop acting offended if I clearly didn't do anything.
@@juliameyer10313 ok stop having a go at me because i don't appreciate it there was no need for u to answer me back because i never asked u to anything u have to say keep it to yourself as somethings u said could be hurtful to some people and u should think about what your saying. If u are to answer back please make sure u say something nice not hurtful.
@@lilymorris1427 have you thought about your own comment then? "Stop thinking u know everything when u clearly don't". Apparently that meant that you didn't understand my first statement and quite frankly, I didn't ask for your opinion either, or did I? If you can't handle being slightly critisised for your words, I'd advise you not to come to overly wrong conclusions like, thinking I wouldn't know the difference between reality and a show or me thinking I'd know everything, because that's a lot of critique for someone who can't handle the consequences. If you want to lecture me about being nice, be so yourself as well.
@@juliameyer10313 ok look u need to stop having a go at me for speaking my own mind if u want to start be mean go be mean to someone else and not me

We lost him
The machine: beep beep
HE STILL ALIVE
He was brain dead
He was brain dead
His heart is still beating but his brain is dead . Thus the machine still beep cause he is still alive.
Well he is technically still alive but he would never wake up.
Now we are dealing with 2 brain dead people.
This just reminds everyone, everything can leave so quickly. Don’t forget to tell people close to you how much u love them no matter how mad you are.
When my grandad died I was there we were also in a car crash 🚙💥🚗 and I didn't want to go to his funeral and when I saw him the first word I said is love
I love when doctors say all type of medical stuff and just act so profesional
This hospital is so quite and calm.
Hmm, title says crash SURVIVORS barely make it and yet one of them dies. If dying constitutes ‘making it’ then we’re all in trouble.
No- the heart is still alive and thats what they were going for
7:00 she was serverly injured in the car crash, but yet she didn't break a nail... strong woman right there...
"The last thing he hear me say is that I didn't love him" you see, this is where I just... I can't understand. I mean, I do kind of get it, but also.. why would you say that to someone you love?? I've fought with my family and my closest friends, ugly crying discussions where it looked like we never would reach an agreement (and sometimes, most times, we in fact did not reach agreement), but I would never tell someone I love that I don't love them. It is so sad.
Weird how when they come back from being off they remember everything. If I had to be off work for three months I'd probs be blank for the first two days
Omg Natalie's hair is soo good
Yaaa

his heart made it. and so did his wife. I think that's what they were trying to say
Ooff, that hit my tear muscles... Good job!
Wife: *having breakdown*
The doctors: may we have his heart 🤲
The bit where she saw the young man then touched his new heart and said im so sorry i love you kioled me im crying
Oops i meant killed
It’s 10:05 pm, I’m in my room crying and ticking like crazy. CAUSE THIS MADE ME FEEL WARM AND FUZZY
When they lifted the lady up and put her down there was a big thud
She was more worried about clearing her conscience.
Exactly what I was thinking. Kind of selfish.
I unterstand where you are comming from but enabeling somebody to live with the organs of a dead Person, who wouldn‘t need them anyway, isn‘t selfish. Rather the opposite actually. It takes courage.
My homework is wet now my tears dropped all over it
The way they plop the patients on the bed always cracks me up.
Damn I thought he’d live because of the title😔😔

I'm balling my eyes out....
I feel like the number one thing someone would want to say to someone before they die is sorry, but why. Why do we make so many reason to say sorry when we can make reason to say thank you?

Wait I just noticed that the nurse or whatever said "Unable to intubate" and Dr.Manning intubates him? What?
Unable to intubate can mean that they couldn't do it in the ambulance because there was too much swelling or movement or whatever. They can still give it a shot at the hospital in a more calm environment with better equipment.
