So today, let's take a look at Kirby Right Back at Ya and what makes it fall flat compared to its competitors.

the dub voices for Dedede, Meta Knight, and Knuckle Joe are firmly cemented in my mind as their canon voices

Personally, I haven't seen the episodes with Knuckle Joe. Meta Knight's voice totally sounds like it should be his canon voice. However, in my opinion, this Dedede voice is best suited to this version of Dedede but not the canon one. I like this dedede voice, but it wouldn't sound right not trying to Clobbah dat dere Kirby
Meta knight sounds more like he's spain than mexican
even though the kirby anime has some questionable writing i can't help but have a soft spot for it, i grew up with it lol

I like the anime and don't mind Tiff and Tuff that much, but I definitely agree with you that they stole the spotlight Kirby should have had!
While I think ditching the direction/tone the pilot was going for was for the better, I really wish Kirby had the chemistry he had with the Dream Land princess, but with Tiff, like maybe in an alternate timeline, the anime depicts him as the brother she never had. While her inclusion would have taken away Kirby's maturity, he could have still had his mischevious, playful side. That's why Tuff is my least favourite out of the two siblings. With Tiff, Kirby could still have most of his character intact, but with Tuff, you're removing arguably his more iconic traits.
Meta knight is more spanish than mexican, in the Latin American dubHe has a Spanish accent
The reason why Tiff and Tuff appear so much in this show is because Kirby doesnt talk in this show. Hes a silent character. King Dedede is a great representation in the anime. He reminds me of Team Rocket as a bumbling villian with a intelligent sidekick Escargoon(hes awesome too by the way).

While I'll admit some of the kirby right back at ya episodes can be middling to forgettable.
I will say it's far better than the mario and legend of Zelda tv shows.
And Escargoon, NME Salseguy, and a few monsters have cameoed in games so they're kinda canon

How do you know Kine is a pedophile? We're never actually told how old he is. He might actually be meant to be the same age as Tiff in the anime for all we know.
Other than that I agree 100% with Squill's take. I don't really hate Tiff and Tuff, but I don't really like them either.
Expect for the game cast being a "found family." I do agree they're friends, but I feel like saying they're like family is a bit of an exaggeration.
Oh come on, Kine's age was never specified. I always thought that it was a childish romance between people of the same age

Great video, Manuel. I recall watching the anime back when I was younger and thought it was okay. I still think that today. As a show, it is decent. Though, as an adaptation, it is kind of a mess.
Kirby being a toddler is weird. He does not feel like the protagonist to their own show. Instead, he feels more like a mascot. Much as I love his voice in the dub, Dedede feels far crueler than he should. At his worst, he is a selfish bully in the games, and even then, he gets his comeuppance. Here, it makes me wonder why there has not been an uprising in Cappy Town. I love Meta Knight in the show, mostly due to his VA in the dub and him being a mentor. Though, he is mostly there for the role of Mr. Exposition. Tiff and Tuff are kinda boring, and Escargoon is there, too.
Going for a blend of 2D animation and CGI could have worked if they were balanced more. Maybe have it be mostly 2D in the show, then go 3D for the transformation sequences. Speaking of which, I love the transformations. They got me hyped when they happened in an action scene.
The show is not the worst, but I do not think I am going back to it anytime soon. The final fight is pretty cool, though.
It's entertaining, if solely for King Dedede's character. The overall plot is absolute garbage in terms of Dedede's motives and buying monsters each episode to kill Kirby, but it's like everybody forgets at the end is all goodie goodie with each other, and each episode starts off as if the last ending didn't happen, despite being a somewhat sequential show.
How the main characters relate to each other on a consistent basis is extremely poorly established.
Tiff is an extrenely annoying character and total Mary Sue that wreaks of "for modern audiences" agenda. Very simplistic moralism and half-hearted attempts at being educational, which neither are necessary and feel heavily forced. Not to mention how they give her so much spotlight and narrative control, to the point of being a protagonist that uses a "dumb and aimless" Kirby to carry out her protagonist role. It's like everybody is dumb, and the young girl is the smartest one, the scholar, the wisest, the leader, the most capable, the idealist, the activist.
The only one who compares is Meta Knight, who takes such a massive hands of approach with little to no reason than to test Kirby.
This show mostly assumes a Kirby Adventure time frame characterization of Dedede and Meta knight. In Kirby's Adventure there was no doubt that Dedede was still selfish and morally corrupt. He literally condemned his own subjects to a fate of slowly going mad and dying horribly from dreamless sleep by removing the Star Rod from the Fountain of Dreams.
This on its own would only signify ignorance or stupidity from Dedede. The proof of malice comes from the fact he bathes in the waters of the Fountain of Dreams to spare only himself the ill effects of his actions. What he did by pulling the Star Rod was actually worst than facing the music and confronting Nightmare as a unified kingdom. It is better to go down quick than it is to be tortured to death slowly. But of coarse Dedede would not have to worry about that last part.
Reality is Dedede did nothing to indicate his now good guy status until the year 2000 with Kirby 64. So by the time that game released the production of the anime was well under way. Keep in mind that Dedede's cooperation in that game was reluctant at best. So, when the creators of the Kirby Right Back at You was making the show the perception of Dedede was still as a villian or neutral at best. We cannot be mad at the show runners of the Kirby anime because they could not tell the future.
As for why didn't Sakurai correct the anime Show runners about Dedede? Because he has nothing to do with the good guy turn in the character. That was Shinichi Shimomura director of the Dark Matter Trilogy.
tiff and tuff are the worst part of the dub, by contrast, their japanese counterparts fumu and bun are bland at worst, genuinely kinda enjoyable at best. the miracle of not being voiced by kerry williams
I wouldnt say antdude is a goated kirby content creator, considering he's stolen from other creators, and also just has a bland personality imo
