wow I am so impressed by the change. Its aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I was planning to go there yesterday but cancelled. Ill definitely go there next weekend.

I used to frequent this place as a child between 10-14 years of age and had to take two jeepneys (From Blumentritt to Harrison Plaza and then from Harrison Plaza to the Zoo) when I lived in the Philippines. I have not been there for over 30 years now and it was once closed indefinitely. It looks so good now and would love the chance to go there one day to visit the Zoo for old time's sake.
as a mindless youth then, I remembered throwing pebbles in the crocodile enclosure to incite a reaction from the Crocodile. The reptile enclosures were my fave especially the Python they used to have.

Huge rodent like animal is Capybara.
I'm esp. happy for the animals themselves coz they now have better enclosures, esp. Mali the elephant who's 48 now. I read that captive elephants usually only live less than 40 yrs. So it's great to see him thriving in our zoo.🐘:)

Giraffe's breeding farm is in Butswangga, Palawan. I think they still working on the Calves to grow and the transport.
It's very different from the Manila Zoo I went to back in 1978.

The design of the newly renovated Manila Zoo has certain similarity with the Singapore Zoo.

Entrance fee to Singapore zoo is expensive, S$48 or 1,900 pesos.
Compare that to Manila Zoo, 300 Pesos only for Adult.

The turtle you call ,pawikan the one you see swim,the other reptiles is iguana.
“Pawikans” are sea turtles, the one Justin saw is a Freshwater softshell turtle

The Philippines has no elephant in the wild now. I recall the one in Manila Zoo came from Sri Lanka.
