    Nice review, and awesome bike. I have some doubts on the 7 speeds . Is that enough? If you go really fast can you still keep paddling and if you go on technical trails how is the peddle speed?

    • @RonWalkerCairngormGuides
      @RonWalkerCairngormGuides  Pƙed 2 lety +4

      The bike's are now definitely geared for road use rather than off-road use which only becomes apparent once the ground becomes a lot steeper/more technical and you need more torque at lower revs. The bike's originally had 21 gears with 3 gear ratios on the crank but now has just one chainring with around 52/54 teeth which is good for speeds of over 30mph on the road. However on narrow trails it could do with lower gear ratios and I've now replaced the crank and chainring with a replaceable 38 tooth one which now makes going up the hill tracks here a lot easier but limits the top end to just over 20mph before ghost pedalling! I was originally going to get a 32 chainring and might try a 32 oval one but fear it would affect the top end to much without going for more gears and a new cassette! It's very easy to customise as all the bike parts are pretty standard.

      Not used it over the winter but still working despite the battery being left discharged over the summer or left fully charged for months over the winter when not used. I initially had problems with the battery connections but it’s a well known issue that’s been sorted in later models and easily avoided if you don’t use it continuously on throttle when going up hill! The newer models should be better though they don’t have the 4 inch fat tyres which are good for the off-road tracks here and some don’t have hydraulic brakes!

    • @RonWalkerCairngormGuides
      @RonWalkerCairngormGuides  Pƙed rokem +1

      Front one has been fine but rear used to rattle over rough ground and can hit the wheel which can bend the steel bracket if you hit any big bumps causing the wheel to rub against the plastic mudguard. I took mine off when I got a rack as that provides plenty of protection. You could easily attach the mudguard onto the rear rack if you have one.

    • @RonWalkerCairngormGuides
      @RonWalkerCairngormGuides  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Don't really know as I mainly use PAS 1 and 2 to get the maximum out of the battery and only use the throttle occasionally. The mileage you get depends on how much pedal assistance you use, the terrain and how hilly it is. We don't have much flat terrain here so it's either uphill or downhill!

    • @RonWalkerCairngormGuides
      @RonWalkerCairngormGuides  Pƙed 2 lety

      Depends where and how you use it. I use mine off road and the odd cycle track and rarely go above 15 mph. Having said that because of the 30 Kg (approx) weight the throttle would be pretty essential for a steep hill start if you are not extremely fit or if you have injuries, disabilities or are just decrepit like me!

      can you detect how many amps it delivers after changing the controller? the mx 03 has a very good battery, a good 1000w motor (I don't know if peak or continuous), but an underpowered controller that gives the motor about 450 watts of power. (9 amps continuous at 48 volts: 9x 48 = 432watts). I am thinking of replacing the controller with a 30a kt controller, which delivers 15a continuous and 30a peak so as to have more torque and a continuous use of about 750watt. but if you want there is also one from 40a peak and 20 to continuous, but with this I am afraid of burning everything. can you tell me how many amps your bike is delivering in these 500km you've done? thank you

You gotta access the menu by pressing down both up and down arrow to access the P menu. Go to P5 and press 2 and voila. U have 9 gears and it makes the ebike much faster than having either 3 or 5 gears... And if you wanna make it even faster then go to P menu 14 and change the amp settings from whatever it is to 18 amps then go to P18 and adjust speed ratio to 150 and viola.. Now the bike will take you to 36mph on the flat using just throttle and over 40mph with some peddle assist in gear 9... ENJOY AND DONT FORGET TO THANK ME. 😂
