This is one of the best first time Pete and Bas reactions I've seen! Usually people get so hung up on how they look that they don't even bother to pay attention to the bars. They also miss the multiple complex flow-switches. But you caught all of that. Kudos.
Yeah man, my favorite reaction video of Pete and Bas. He caught almost every double
Certain British dialects, really lend themselves to a natural rap cadence.
Legit Cockney wanka here. Had people telling me I talk too fast my whole life. We've had slang since before someone invented the word slang. It was originally used so you could talk about criminal activities within earshot of the Police and them to be unable understand what you're talking about. We've got slang for everything even numbers 5= A jacks 10 = A Tenner 20= A score 50 = A bullseye 100 = A Ton 500= A Monkey 1000= A Grand but you could also use large, 3000 is 3 large. We literally have slang for more or less everything. Old school London slang is now being replaced with a lot of Jamaican and Indian slang terms now but these two old geezers know whats up.
"OLD MAN BARS IS SOMETHIN YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH" I'm dead bro
You caught so many bars other people didn't. Pete and Bas are definitely GOATS. You can react to anything and be blown away.
being from the US, I just assumed the "crocker" term was a uk thing, mind blown on the betty crocker
@@davidhill9696 He is the first person i've seen to get the betty crocker bar! Being from the UK its not really a thing here but seen a lot of Americans react & not catch it which is a surprise, admittedly is a subtle bar.
@@Theunknownmoniker It goes even deeper and I haven't seen anyone pick up on it yet. But not only is he referring to the step by step, but he starts the next like with "Bet he" and joins it to make it sound like "Betty".
Munfu - real talk. They DO NOT MISS. Ever. Just search Pete & Bas and pick any of them, and then keep going. They are ALL fire.
Just wanted to add in a few explanations to some very British references in their bars, 1. "The bouncer came out and he got weighed in" Weighed in means knocked out. 2. "Then I'm switch suits like I'm Mr Benn" Mr Benn was an 80's kids TV cartoon in the UK where the main character dressed up in different costumes in a costume shop. 3. "I dodged the case, so I flipped the bird" This means i didn't get prosecuted and didn't need to go to prison (Doing Bird). 4. "mess with the cake then I'll Battenberg him" Cake meaning drugs & Battenberg is a type of cake eaten with tea in the UK. 5. "dipped like a Rich Tea biscuit" Popular British biscuit (We do love our Biscuits). 6. "Knock Down Ginger" game played by kids in the UK where you know at someone's door and leg it to wind them up. 7. "Box a man back like I'm munching jollof" Jollof is Nigerian Rice. 8. "Super Kings and a bottle of bourbon" Super Kings are very long Cigarettes sold in the UK. 9. "Let that rip when I'm whipping that German" German refers to a BMW Car. 10. "Flick of the wrist and I left him gurning" Gurning is a weird distorted facial expression (Just Google "Gurning" and look at Photos, You'll understand!) 11. "Just stepped out in a fresh Ben Sherman" Ben Sherman make Shirts. 12. "I was locked in an HMP" HMP is Her Majesty's Prison. 13. "Del Boy, Peckham, they recognise me" This refers to Del Boy the main character of at UK TV Show called Only Fools & Horses (Arguably the Best Sit Com we ever made). 14. "Then he'll get cemented, builder's site" Buried in a Building site. 15. "cone get split like Chevron" on UK motorways they sometimes have Chevron markers that tell you to stay 2 metres apart. 16. "Chavving his jewels" Chavving means Stealing. Hope this helps our American Cousins :P
‘Old man bars is something you gotta deal with, hold on!!’
Lmao that’s brilliant
I'm in the UK and been listening to rap since the 80s (I'm 50 now) and there are 50 to 60 year old MCs that are old schoolers that can't cut the mustard next to these 2... that bar where he says he'll switch shirts like he's Mr.Ben... the non UK old school heads would never get that... it's a kids cartoon show from the 1970s where Mr.Ben chooses a different outfit every week from a magic shop... that one bar made my noggin spin! These are OGs!
I’m in your age group. Haven’t liked anyone as much as these two since I discovered Lowkey many years ago. They are so good. Their lyricism and cadence are so good.
Young boy took a hook to the chin...
Bouncers came out and they got weighed in...
Believe it or not they have a sizable and growing discography and an entire crew of dudes in their 60s and seventies who occasionally feature on their songs one or two of whom are also at least somewhat prolific artists in their own right
This gave me so much joy to watch 😂😂😂😂😂 The Pete and Baz show NEVER disappoints 😂
PETE AND BAS PLUGGED IN WITH FUMEZ IS A MUST!!! You won’t be disappointed TRUST!! 🇬🇧🔥🇬🇧🔥
This is one of the Coldest reactions to our UK old g’s, keep it up 🤣🥶
First time i saw Pete n Bas i cried. It was so beautiful.
No cussing. The British references are so good. 'Boot full of flat screen TV, del boy Peckham they recognize me'
Golf and Mr Worldwide are my favorites. The window frame cypher is lit too
I'm 56, Pete and Bas are Lyrically the best rappers of all time!!
One of the best first Pete and Bas reactions. Makes me happy everytime.
You are now entering the extended Sindhu universe. Strap in tight, you in for a ride
What is Sindhu? A producer? Label? Some kinda grimy syndicate? I need to know where to go next.
These niggas are f**kin amazing 👏 🙌 Gun Barr ,speed rap , crazy flows , 🔥 🎶
Let's just take a moment to appreciate how many geek references were mentioned in this video - Wifi Routers, Gundham, HP Printers...LMAO!
I am IN LOVE with your reaction to this. Pete & Bas are the real deal and folks have been sleeping on them for a long time. ❤
Lightwork freestyle
Golf
Old estate
Quick little freestyle
Brown's
Mr worldwide
some of the Best Pete and bas drops all fire 🔥 I promise
"THESE N****s is rappin!!!" What a reaction. Welcome to your new rabbit hole. Think about that this is THE BEST track they put out, and all other tracks are FIRE!! Pete is the short one, and Bas is pronounced like BAZ, as his name is Basil. I'm sure you've gotten a lot of suggestions. Go way back and work your way up if you want to see the progression of them getting better and better. When they do drill, they always reference, or borrow a line from a previous track, which is "Cha Cha step in the dance and slide, two hand on me hips and glide", is from the track Shuffle from this summer. Golf, Old Estate ft M24, Dents in a Puegot, Lightwork Freestyle, Bermondsey. The new releases this year in order were Browns, Mr Worldwide, Shuffle, Windowframe Cypher part 2, and this current one Sindhu Sesh
You caught so many bars that go over every other reactors heads, instant sub💯 love from Australia🇦🇺
Martin Luther had a dream, Pete starts the bar with that sleep theme, finishes with "black or white, we can be brothers".
Pete n Bas on fumes the engineer it's a must freestyle is insane.
They have been shelling out bangers for FIVE years! Each track different from the last. Just look up their list of over 30 tracks and pick any one of them and you will be impressed!
These two Masters have got the game in a strangle-hold! 🐐🐐
You know how many years people put into the game to be able to wrap like this and these guys just step up like this because they've lived these type of lives in a way whether they write their own stuff or not the way they perform at the cadence the flow the way they play off one another is so next level
Your reaction was awesome and a joy to watch. It’s always so much fun watching someone discover Pete & Bas for the first time. (They were one of the few joys of the pandemic for me.)
They’re even more impressive if you understand UK slang or pop culture. For example, Mr. Benn was a kids cartoon in the 70’s that featured a character who would change into various costumes inside his walk-in closet, then step out into whatever time period and/or location the costume suggested.
I would recommend Mr. Worldwide, Shuffle, Old Estate, Golf and Plugged in with Fumez.
Thank you for the Mr. Ben reference 🤗 I’ve been breaking down their lyrics for a few days trying to get everything and this one I wasn’t sure of.
holup, the grandads can spit
edit: christ, they family musta left them on the corner so long they took over the circle
As far as i know they both are real OG gangsters. Used to run around with Krays etc. they have done the stuff they rap about. Danger grandads.
Battenberg Cake triple entendre
“Mess with my cake and I’ll Battenberg em”
1. I’ll Cook em like a cake
2. Checkered pattern on UK ambulances is called a Battenberg (actually named after the cake)
3. Cut em like the Battenberg cake is traditionally served
They popped up out of no where and became some of my favorites alive
The entertainment value of these two are unquestionable. 👌
Aaaaaand now you'll have to react to every single one of their tracks. It's the law.
BY FAR my favorite reaction of yours are the 2 Pete and Bas reactions. Not just of your on CZcams. The excitement, the breakdown, just being a new fan of something. Truly a perfect set of reactions.
Please do the window frame cyoher. Im tellin you my guy. Ur gonna lose your shit
Finally! 🤣 Welcome to the collective!
Depending on where you want to start you can go backwards from here or you can start from when they first did stuff and go forward.
There's do one, ugly, dents in a Peugeot, golf, window frame cypher 1 and 2, shuffle, speeding, duffle bag, two phones, browns, quick little freestyle, plugged in with fumez, the oldest state, Mr worldwide, shuffle, bermondsey, etc. They have their own little mixtape and everything's a banger
Every bar and verse is genius. I could go into specific detail on each bar, verse, schemes, beats etc but it'd take me hours to breakdown in it's entirety. And alot is just my interpretation.
That opening verse has bars that have obvious meanings like "cats jumping like puma" "dream like Martin Luther"...
As we know, the verse has a "sleep" scheme with "Dream" "Fall asleep" "Nightmare" "Sleep" in each bar.
Now I could be way off thinking this, I've never read anyone mention it. But that opening verse also has a German/ww2 scheme. Let me explain.
Luger - a German semi-automatic pistol used by German soldiers in ww2.
Uber - Über is a German language word meaning over and above.
Wi-fi - George Antheil, born to German immigrants in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1941, Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes in ww2 to synchronize frequency changes, referred to as frequency hopping, between the transmitter and receiver. It is one of the spread spectrum techniques that became widely used in modern telecommunications. Antheil's work helped with the creation of Wi-Fi.
Puma - a German sports brand founded by Rudolf Dassler in 1948. He was a member of the Nazi party.
Fall asleep to the sound of the Hoover - in ww2 when enemy planes were near and about to start dropping bombs. An air raid siren would alert people to take shelter. The siren sounded like an old hoover (vacuum cleaner). Fall asleep meaning dying to the sound of the siren (hoover) as bombs landed.
Krueger - a German surname. Also Walter Kruger a Nazi SS General in ww2.
Martin Luther - a 16th-century German monk and reformer whose efforts to reform the theology and practices of the Catholic Church launched the Protestant Reformation.
Tuna - HMS Tuna (N94) was a T-class submarine of the Royal Navy during ww2. It was equipped with German-built engines.
USS Tuna (SS-203) was a United States Navy Tambor-class submarine, serving in the Pacific during ww2.
- now it's just my interpretation, and I could go into even more detail on the full sesh, alot that ive never heard anyone mention.
This was the most hilarious reaction to Pete and Bas I’ve seen. Literally had me LMAO! 🤣
It’s true hip hop. The tall ones voice is very melodic and the short one shifts cadences like he’s been at this all of his life
I was speechless the first time I heard these guys. Then I watched a UK dude break it down even more explaining the UK slang. It's just wild.
🔥 Reaction Pete & Bas are moving MAD! Better than 95% of the rappers out there
I think for technical level, wordplay and flow changes this is their best stuff, but I also really like Browns, Mr. Worldwide and their Plugged In with Fumez.
Also, this beat from 91 shots is 👌
Don't miss "Plugged IN" ;) Fire af
Golf, Mr. Worldwide, Windowframe Cypher Pt.1 & 2, Shuffle and anything else because everything they do is top tier!
I'm completely convinced that these 2 were gangsters and definitely did all these things in their day.
Their triples are insane.
I totally missed that Betty Crocker line first listen. Damn.
You about to fall into the rabbit hole lol..and they OG certified..fire reaction.🤘🏾..bruh the "excuse me"😭
bro your reaction was the same as mine, fucking BARS!!! i was in shock too. aint nobody lately givin em bars this hot bro fucking fire!!!FIRE
“I’ll hurt em, one things for sure and two things for certain, money gets made and the packs I'm serving
he mess with the cake then I'll Battenberg him.” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Golf and the windowpane cypher pt 1 and 2 if you want to see the whole crew
Best reaction i have ever seen... you are genuinely blown away! I love it...😂
The way you said "what the fk is this bruh" i knew too well when i saw that sess first time. As a rap head for 25 years plus, this is one of the few times i couldn't believe my eyes and ears man. But these two are so legit, it's beyond comprehension and they deserve every accolade thrown at them.
Yeah you get it, love seeing genuine passion and understanding of the artform. Real G
Someone on another video explained some of the British slang they use that just adds so much more depth to their bars that I simply miss out on as an American. Like the verse that starts with "One things for sure and two things for certain", later he says "mess with the cake and I'll battenberg him". Sooo... obviously he's talking about cake like it's money. But "Battenberg" is some sort of checkered looking British cake, and it's slang for the checkered pattern on their ambulances. SO much more than meets the eye going on here. The levels are ridiculous.
Another one people tend to miss is in the "Burn that rubber like I'm Michelin, 5 star food that I dish to them, Chef's hat on when I'm whipping in the kitchen, Then I switch suits like I'm Mr Benn" lines. It goes from michelin tires, to michelin star restaurants, to making drugs in the "kitchen". Then it's all tied together even neater by the Mr Benn line saying that whatever needs doing, he'll do it.
Listen, I’m from the “I sit alone in my 4 corner room staring at candles” days…
For real, these dude are hitting. I could listen to them all damn day.
What, you don’t think ranchers listen to rap? 😏
Honestly, the best reaction I've seen for Pete & Bas yet. You get it. 💯
"Back of the box of crocker, Betty take that" got me.. lol Betty crocker
you gotta check "The Old Estate" and windowframe Cypher 1/2 man, absolute fire
"Shelled on Big Bang Theory". Thats a bar
Bro the Betty crocker theme in bas' first couple lines he had is nuts
Browns, lightwork freestyle they are all 🔥🔥 check out all of them even the older stuff is good
I love watching people react to Pete and bas
Now you have to react to all of pete and bas! It's the law!🤣😆👍
Pete and bas, Lightwork Freestyle. Must watch 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"I'm an ole' dog, still I'm out there serving"
WHAAAA????!!!!! 😆😅
Mr Worldwide should be next. Pete & Bas are the real deal!
Gotta do every Pete and Bas song now
Pete is the short one, Bas is the tall one. They are fire at rapping 🔥
your reaction on the "Christian christening" bar was so good! :DDDD
You have to listen anything of Pete and Bas, they are awesome.
The next thing has to be their Plugged In with Fumez the Engineer, its in its own league.
but then go and watch everything they've done, including their window frame cyphers.
...and enjoy.
Yo, how these geezers so damn cold?
❄️🥶
These two are officially gangsters from the 70s in London the rumor is they put in work back in the day
Pete n baz GOLF the bars will blow your brains baz the tallest of the two spits flames 🔥 😳
“THIS NIGGA IS RAPPING!”
Love it.
Absolute fire, been waiting on your reaction to these guys haha.
Those goons don’t miss a beat kuz and they are the real deal
This maybe their most technical track ever, but there’s bangers throughout their back catalogue.
Their Plugged In with Fumez is a must see. Not least because they sent for like 50% of the UK scene and nobody had the stones to come back at ‘em.
I love seeing ppls first reaction to them. They fire asf
pete and bas go hard!
"Yoooooooo they rapping rapping" 🤣🤣 awesome reaction!
'Because they dipping the crumpet' 😂😂 it's a biscuit
Not sure why I never see anyone suggesting Duffle Bag, Knock a Man Down...absolute fire.
Thank you for paying attention to the lyrics DBs recognising their wordsmith skills...great reaction!
Seen shitloads of reactions to this (upwards of 25 to 30), you’re the second person I’ve seen get the Betty Crocker bar. Well fucking done.
Also, T-Rex is getting to the point where Old Man bars IS something we have to deal with 😂.
I always like to watch people discover Pete and Bas for the first time! This is hilarious tho, cause Your definitely the closest I've seen to how I reacted. #TeamLightSkin 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep, first time I heard them and paid attention to the words they was saying I was also mind fucked,! Them 2 dudes is legit AF!!!
Bas is the tall one. These guys are🔥🔥🔥🔥
Golf with Norman Pain is pretty great. It's one of their more serious ones, but it's still great.
Bro - one of the best Pete and Bas first times! Catching the bars and schemes all over, great work man. Would love to see you react to more Pete and Bas - genuinely, all amazing. Mr Worldwide is special, the whole song is one long scheme, The Old Estate is crazy, Browns is fire. Gonna hit up your Plugged In bud now man, keep it up 👏🏽💪🏽
That was fiiiire i didnt know about them before this video so thank you to whomever suggested it. Woo! Next you should review point of no return by immortal technique
Dude your reactions where great man really emjoyed watching this. These niggaz is rappin!!!!

been watching reaction videos, glad you caught the Michelin bar, shit is hard af
Walking on top of the world Pete &Bass bro !! Bars and bags and tags dayyyyum bro !!!
"Quick little freestyle" I have down word for word.
Pete & Bas are no joke... 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brother I love your reaction to this you have just gained a new subscriber keep up your good work and do more Pete and bas
That Battenberg line is insane. It's a checkered cake that you slice, and the checkered pattern on uk ambulances. These dudes drop double and triples effortlessly.
Yeah, "Mess with the cake and I'll Battenberg him"? Sliced, checkered pink and white, ambulance takes him away. Piece of cake for these guys.
Then the kipling line by Pete straight after.
Also bat and burg (burglarize) him, so hit him with a bat and rob him
The Crocker line as well. Breaking them down like steps on the back of the crocker, Bet he take that. Betty Crocker is a line of pre-mixed ingredients for baking cakes. Just unreal intricacy.
@@-Jester what does it mean? i didn't get it, english is not my first language and i have a hard time figuring out UK slangs
