I’ve never related more to a celebrity then when Jen Atkin talked about food for a solid 4 minutes 😂❤️ That’s literally me naming everything that I love to eat
That was one of the most entertaining moments of all of CZcams for me.
Hahaha the struggle
SAAAAME
Except for when she mentions the hot fudge sundaes on American Airlines... she got me there.
Omg and you replied to me!! Girl 🥰 I just saw this but you made my night lol
I'm always envious of people who can keep snacks in the house. The minute I bring snacks in the house I eat them all lol
No self control at all 😣😭
My quick tip for not wasting food:
Fruit - when you see it’s starting to look kinda sad lol throw it in a pot with some lemon juice and a bit of really good honey, let it simmer until you have a compote! Put it on some gluten free healthy pancakes and no need for syrup 🥞
Veggies: Cut them up toss them with some olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary whatever u like and roast them in the oven! Makes an awesome meal with sweet potatoes, or a great side dish.
Hope that gives you some inspo! Sending you love ❤️❤️
Laura Ulisse oh wow this is awesome thanks!
adding onto this.. I juice my sad fruits and veggies!
Leftovers- give them to a homeless person
I freeze EVERYTHING in zip lock bags when it’s on the turn to almost going bad. Then you have the freedom to do what you like with the veggies... add to any casseroles, stews, scrambled eggs, omelettes, soups, boil them or sautée to accompany pretty much any meat/main dish or blitz up in a blender for a pasta sauce. Fruits you’re a little more limited with but you can add to a blender to make a smoothie, top oatmeal with them or create a sorbet/fruity topper with granola on Greek yoghurt.
Freezing preserves the nutrients and gives you an emergency stash of goodness if you’re running low on groceries or going out of town etc and can’t use up what you have.
Cutting out sugar from your diet is SO important! I went sugar free for 2 months and it's amazing how much of a difference it made to my life! Not only did I lose weight, but my skin also looked incredible and I found I was craving food less. IT IS LIFE CHANGING! Good luck girl! I hope you find the same results.
OMG how.... this is my goal, seriously, I just don't know how is this doable...
zxc I completely understand how you are feeling! Trust me, it is really hard for the first week but once you get over the first week, you’ll find that you crave sugar less. I followed the Keto Diet so I also eliminated carbs from my diet (which you would be surprised contain lots of sugar) and upped my fat intake. I am really bad at tracking what I eat so I would just have a mental note in my mind to have less than 20 grams of carbs per day and as little sugar as possible! I’m a huge snacker so I keep Quest bars on me at all times in my bag. They have lots of fun flavours like birthday cake and cookies and cream :) If you really want something sugary, have a diet soda instead (but only as a treat :)).
zxc OH and one thing I forgot to mention is STOP DRINKING MILK and switch to cream instead. What a lot of people don’t realize is that milk is very high in carbs and also has sugar in it! When I first started on the Keto diet I was still drinking milk and not understanding why I wasn’t losing any weight! One carton of milk alone contains 11 grams of sugar and 12 grams of carbs where as a carton of cream contains 1 gram of sugar and 1 gram of carbs.
Hannah Babich & what happens when you crave dark chocolate 🍫 when it’s 🔴🔴🔴the time of the month? Dark chocolate is the hardest thing for me to give up.
Kas Kahea Good question! I found once I cut back on sugar I just started to crave it less. I know this isn’t chocolate, but there’s a really good healthy peanut butter called Fatso (their salted caramel flavour is TO DIE FOR) so any time I am feeling bad I will dip apples in it. Peanut butter is filling because it’s high in fat and if you find the right one, can be low in sugar! That always seems to hit the spot for me when I want something sugary like chocolate.
Who else got hungry while Jen was naming food places? I relate to you so much lol
hahahah sorry sorry
“I’ve never liked Domino’s because I care about myself” 😂😂😂
When she listed a fav fast food items, I felt that on a level
Hahaha
Your video about health made me postmates junk food in the first 2 min... you started mentioning all true good “bad” food and that was it for me
A tip for not wasting foods that have a short shelf life: Keep raw fruits and veggies on the highest shelf in your fridge so you don't forget about them in the crisper or hidden on the bottom shelf!
Great idea!
YES love your honestly and realness with your fast food cravings lol
I appreciate how real this video is. She’s the best!! Showing that she has things to work on and no one is perfect. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for watching!
How to not waste food: grocery shop weekly... and only buy what you need for the week. For example, I buy one or two fruits to last me the whole week (aka 5 apples and a bag of grapes), that way they're gone and I have to get more, instead of having too much (I always keep frozen fruit for smoothies though). I always keep healthy TJ's meals in the freezer for emergency days so I don't Postmate.
I still can't believe how real you are and how real you keeping it! You are the best and such an inspiration on sooo many levels :) xxx
Some things that work for me:
- Delete delivery apps, if you don’t have them on your phone you cant use them.
- Cooking healthy meals gets me excited about my health and makes me appreciate it and invest more in it.
- Allow yourself to have something unhealthy every once in a while, for example don’t avoid going out to dinner with friends because you don’t want to eat something that is not that healthy, balance is key.
- Don’t buy that much groceries at once, buy the right amount for the week, that way you’ll waste way less.
- Start small bc every form of progress counts, sugar and processed foods are soooo addictive and giving them up is very hard but after a while of not having them and constantly thinking about them your body kinda stops asking for them.
Love this new segment!!!Best of luck jen 💕💕💕
Jen listing off all her fave foods had me rolling. 😂🤣
Hearing you talk about your sweet tooth binging makes me feel so much better. I’m going to challenge myself this month too . . . we are in it together!
Diet is something that I'd say is overall in good shape, obviously there are areas to improve upon but my main goal is to cut out substances (ab)use. The last two years have been one long journey of using drugs/alcohol to add fullness and excitement to my days. I'd drink when I knew it wouldn't really give me any satisfaction and that's when it becomes a problem, when you drink/do drugs just because you're that bored. So my main health goal is to stop spending money on alcohol/weed (need to save money anyways) and instead try to use exercise as a way to get me excited and energized about the day ahead. It's free to move your body and I don't have to worry about any adverse effects physically or mentally, which I really can't afford anyways.
Love your channel and thank you for this new series!! You are a motivation to me to want to do better for myself and live a fulfilling life.
Your rant in the car is what I could talk about everyday all day 😂😍😍
Jen feels so normal, thank y
I’m in and all the way here for this series!
Tip: Utilize the re-usable baggies that were on your instastory! You can store your snacks/fruits/veggies since you're always on the go and it's the perfect alternative to cover your half eaten pears lol
Okay this series is all i‘ve been waiting for!! You give me so much inspiration in all kinds of different topics and now this series is perfect to start out the new year😍 Love you Jen!!! Gonna hustle to achieve my goals this year even more than I did before!!!
Yay!!!
This is the content we need!! Consuming content that will help us grow and better ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally!
This is THE MOST relatable food vlog/fridge tour video EVER!
I just love you! One of my top three fave CZcams channels 🙌🏽
Best tip on saving produce: as soon as you get home from the store, soak the fruit and vegetables in a ACV water solution for 5-10 min, rinse and store in a breathable container or bowl with no lid! Same with greens - the acv water solution makes everything nice and crunchy, keeps produce fresh for longer, washes off residue of any kind of chemical dirt or contaminate. The hemp cloth reusable produce bags are bomb!
Totally needed this video as I realised sugar in the evening is keeping me awake!
I'm so excited for this!!! I am totally on the same page. I completely cut sugar out all together (yes even maple syrup & honey!), and am only allowing myself vodka or tequila on vacation (I told myself it has to be an out of the state, legit vacation, not a staycation or "the weekend"). I'm so excited to see what changes take place from this.
The beginning of this video is crazy! I loved every minute of you just talking about food you love. i couldnt relate to any celeb more than you at this moment.
Jen you're my snack spirit animal haha. Cheers to you for making healthy changes
Don’t buy so much food at one time. Girl, it’s just you & Mike. Your fridge looks like it can feed the Brady Bunch + Alice!
GIRL i need this so bad right now, and your declutter video.
hearing you talk about fast food & unhealthy food habits is so relatable and i love that you’re so open about it. a lot of people in your position wouldn’t share that they like this kind of food, or that they struggle with it sometimes, and your realness is really inspiring.
“i’ve never liked dominos because i care about myself”
S A M E
The healthy attempts of food left in the fridge to die is so ME 😭
The saddest thing
Me too! So sad! I literally started buying canned fruit so I don’t have to keep watching fresh fruit rot from me not eating it.
Ugh the amount of wasted food kills me
❤️ this! It's so nice to know that I am not alone when it comes to eating sugar.
Love this video keep us updated!
you're a friggin mood I love it
Love this video & your honesty. Can’t wait for more!
Hey Jen! Wow I loved this episode of your new series. I can relate so much to the dessert every night habit . Three years ago I felt addicted to sugar and relied on it to function. Over the last three years I have been training myself to enjoy healthy foods and cut my bad habits. Today I have a passion for health and wellness and actually enjoy the taste of earths natural gifts. One tip I would recommend to avoid wasting food, is to freeze anything right before it goes bad because that will extend the life of the item.
THANK YOU for letting me know I’m not alone on letting beautiful strawberries ROT and then procrastinating on throwing them away immediately and just enjoying the view of new species grow off them as days go by ♥️ Love your videos!!! 😃
As some one who enjoys eating healthy & making at home meals I recommend buying less when you grocery shop for any cold items so you kinda force yourself to eat what you have before it goes bad. You’ll start going to the grocery store like twice a week but you’ll be wasting less food. Good lucky on the health journey!!
The video I never knew I needed! Good luck on your journey and thanks for the inspiration!!!! x
Happy New Year ! I LOVE frozen grapes, Best treat ever. Also, If you like apples, slice them and they’re easier to eat that way. Best of luck on your healthy food journey 😉
Love this series idea!!
This morning I added the word UPGRADE to my vision board and this afternoon i watched your UPGRADE video. Must be a sign! I'm in! Let's do this!
you can do it Jen! 💕🥥 The dang coconut chips & perfect bars are my FAV. Loved this!!
This video is EVERYTHING
Thanks só much! Needed that! Lóved that you're só honest about it. Sunday's for me, are for meal prepping. So I make bananabread etc and put portions (on the go) in the freezer. Or I make soup for a week and make batches to put in the freezer. Soup is very healthy, it fills you up and prevents (me anyway) from snacking! These preperations are much cheeper than all the things you buy and also, you know what's inside. Also, I only buy for 2 or 3 days of groceries. This stops me from having to throw things away. Lóve that your theme is "health" and nót dieting! I'm with you!! Lóve from Holland! 😘
You seriously are my guru I love you so much!
I usually wash my fruit and let it dry then freeze it and make shakes with it so it doesn’t go to waste. I get it from the Hollywood farmers market every Sunday and put some in the fridge and put some away in the freezer.
Hi Jen! I'm obsessed with frozen grapes (red or green) as a healthy sweet alternative to candy! I think you would like it, and it's so easy to do.
That sounds yummy ill get some!
@@JenAtkin definitely do, they are such a nice "treat" that really feels like a treat because most people don't have them that often. Shakes up the typical idea of a snack, which is really rich and heavy or super salty and crunch.
also blueberries!
okay soooo i'm obsessed with you and i'm sooo excited for this series I already fill my fridge and pantry with healthier alternatives I've been doing that for 2 years now and it was hard in the beginning but I do treat myself on the weekends. I do this thing where I don't give myself as much options for snacks and as I'm running low on snacks I have no choice but to reach for fruits in-between and they don't end up going bad! It doesn't feel like i'm depriving myself because I know I will feel better by making better choices, soon you won't even crave all the sweets! Good luck Jen!
My number one tip for not wasting food is shopping as you go. It's also just me and my husband and we were wasting SO much food in an attempt to be healthy. It's definitely taxing to grocery shop so often especially in Canada during winter but I feel like with farmers markets and whatnot it's so much easier to go like three times a week. Makes you much more conscious of what you're eating and after a while you can shop less frequently because you get a feel for what you love and what you'll actually eat regularly.
My husband and I have a trick to use up stray produce before it goes bad...we have a fridge clean out date night! We make a platter of whatever sliced veggies, last bits of hummus/cheese/deli meats, toasted pita and bread stragglers. Sometimes olives, pickles, and artichoke hearts from the pantry. If we need more dipping stuff, I mix onion soup mix or ranch seasoning with nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Kind of just a big pile of munchies! Then we dig in on the couch while we watch Netflix. It’s the most efficient, low cost, and perfectly lazy date night!
About fruits and veggies, my personal tip would be, dont buy a lot, and dont buy many different kinds. Max fruits i would get is 3x kinds (example: bananas 🍌 manadarins 🍊 grapes 🍇) easy to grab and eat whole. If you buy many different kinds you wont eat it. I resist buying strawberries 🍓 and raspberries etc, i eat a little of it forget it in the fridge, and it always goes bad 🤨. Also toss the fruit in the blender and make smoothies out of fruit before it goes bad!
Thanks for being honest and showing the real you, love your channel! 🙏
Omg Jen thank you for making this video! The munchies hit me so stinking hard, and I have been trying to stop but have been struggling to find the right balance. Looking forward to hearing which healthy alternatives you reccomend
Happy New Year, Jen! May it be the best one yet!
Happy new year!!
Jen you are MEEE when it comes to food 😭
Thanks Jen! Love your content!
No dessert at night. Im with you.
DAY 1 , starting today. thanks for the Inspo
Jen, your facial expressions and attitude are life...They always make me smile and laugh....Thank you for the inspiration and I'm going to give up sweets this month...Cant let go of the Diet Coke just yet!!!!!lol :)
SO Delicious cashew milk ice cream in the salted caramel flavor...is way better than any ice cream I've ever had! I discovered it when I recently went dairy- free and needed a treat! Definitely give it a try!
Most relatable video ever. Going through your fridge and tossing the spoiled food, dang that resonated with me to the core. That happens to my strawberries ever single time. Also, okay, Watchamacallits are literally the best candy bar ever. I can always find them at Rite Aid or CVS. The sweet tooth in me salutes and applauds you.
Im so jelly of your set up!! I love your channel!
You’re hilarious! Always enjoy watching your CZcams videos. Keep it up! 👍🏽😊
love your cartier ring !!!! happy new year
Jimmy johns the veggie - add hot peppers, EZ mayo got me thru undergrad and any hangover ever
Hey Jen! Can you please make more of these videos continuing on health like your daily exercise routine journey, what you mostly eat daily and tips. Maybe other series related to career as an entrepreneur(fav:planners, goal writing templates, organization apps, books), motherhood and life balance, what motivates you and tips/tools on what keeps you going. Thanks!!
Love this series⭐😍
I feel you girl I’m a total nyt dessert eater .... I’m defo going to try my best .... SO GLAD YOU DONE THIS VLOG ITS TOTALLY INSPIRED ME ...LOVE FROM SCOTLAND 🏴.
You are my fav person ever. Personality is the best
Loved it !!
I loved when you described everything and what you like. My freshman yr of his I only had vanilla milkshake and fries everyday. Now I have a Diet Pepsi and 2 reese cups for breakfast every single day for over 20 years. I will not stop.
Woww 20 years! that's dedication
Used to be a night time snacker 🤓 Was able to stop that by doing intermittent fasting! After 7.30-8 pm I stop eating and don’t eat til 12 the next day. Best thing I did and have been doing for more than 2 years✨ I will be cutting back on processed foods and sugar this year🤞
Omg this was so entertaining! Lol we need an update on this
I love this! I'm the same as you but with having a TV snack everynight.. def do not need and now I want to challenge myself to stop
Yes, Skor is my fave!!
Awesome video and series idea!! I totally relate on your love of fast food!!
i grew up with a fridge that was always filled to the brim and always filled with expired, moldy, rotting food because it never got cleaned out. living on my own i learned to keep my fridge mostly empty with just enough to get through the week and not buy so much it will go bad. i can never go back to a crowded fridge!
my new fav human ever
Thank you for the motivation! I'm on Day 5 but it is so hard 😫 so i'm glad I found you're video 😊
1. Loving the content!
2. Loved hearing about your favorites lol how do you feel about Philly cheesesteaks?! Like a true Philly cheese steak
Me listening to you whilst driving
going through the fast food you’re obsessed with!! 🤤🤤😋 They all sounded sooo good!!!! DC is my one vice, that and Pepsi max. So hard to quit though!!! You’re doing fab 🙌🏻
you always look put together and neat! i really would like a video of how you can take care of your hair in the cheapest way.. that would be a fun video! c:
I love how honest you where with all the food in fridge and what went bad. Best way not to waste is not over stock fridge and make a list of food for meals and snacks and stick to it. 😊😊
Jen you are a angel for donating you Tate’s cookies and lays ranch dressing🤣🤣🤣🤣
I eat more healthy food because when I bring home fresh fruits and vegetables I wash and prep and put them into grab-and-go size so there's no fuss when I'm preparing for my day. Stopped wasting so much fresh food by incorporating time in the prep after shopping! Of course I'm not good every week!! But most weeks! Good luck Jen, change is a challenge!
This whole video 😂😂 . I appreciate you !
Never loved a youtube video more than this one. hahaha
Love your honesty and candidness. I’m going to do a month with no Diet Coke! You’ve inspired me lady x
Love your vlogs so much! Erehwon is one of my favorite markets.
Jen this is the most relatable video ever!! hahah love it!! P.S : where is your white bag from? obsessed.
You are the coolest person--I like you more every video! ❤️ Lisa
Jen, freezing grapes after separating them into individual pieces is a nice way to not waste them and is a delicious snack if you eat them as frozen, or just blend into a smoothie :) Thanx for the inspirational vlog on eating better!
I loved when you listed all your fave treats by category 🤣 that's me! Food is life!!!! The best way we dont waste fresh veg is by doing one weekly shop and meal planning before you buy it all. Really easy once you get into it. Also any veg that's in it's way out just make a big soup!
Love this. Will try. I think the clean out is the hardest?? Looks like. Ugh. But I’ll power through! 💪🏾
I’m a hairstylist and you’re such an inspiration!! Regards from Poland 😍😉
Omg your habits with fresh fruits and veggies match mine exactly! I always let mine go bad 😭
When it comes to fresh food - always only buy what you need and nothing more! I usually buy what I know I’ll eat in the week and make sure I use all of it.
Love this. Ben and Jerry’s do a good diary free ice cream. X
Love this!! Please share any tips people send you!
