I completely forgot how bad the animation is until re-watching this. They really got AAA BGM going with indie-level animation. This would be badass with a remake.
If you pay attention, ali project song - forest cruise, is using sample from one of the menu theme song in sonic vs shadow. Other songs like God diva also cover some opera from an already existing song.
This was how he looked during the time he was stuck in the game. When he was finally released when the Dot Hackers took down Cubia he had no memory. But it's like that him came back during this time. He really was just a lonely kid.
Man I remember watching this show when it aired. And I’m reminded soooo much of how unfun it was to watch with loooong moments of nothing shots happening on screen.
I like how most of this fight is just... Panning camera shots, and off screen sound effects, and like you only get to see small bits of the fight If only they animated this in the actual game somewhere, or in the .hack GU trilogy. Imagine if this show had SAO's budget....
@@DavidZakuzaRyutashi I just want to point out most of their resources were being dumped into the games at the time. These episodes were airing while each game was being released at the time. The game/movie cgi scenes still hold up today imo.
@@Type_Eos yeah I'm aware... The anime was mainly to fill in the blank of the time skip that happens before the start of Volume 1. Even so, If only the animation here was better, but at least we got that one CGI movie.
This is a recurring issue with the animation studio they kept hiring for these anime. A lot of standing around and talking about things but very little fighting in these settings where fighting is happening practically 24/7 and drives the plot
This anime clearly had a very low budget, as they almost never animated the fight scenes and a lot of the shots linger too long on stills. The video game, by contrast is very quick and full of action. Definitely play the GU games, but I would pass on the anime.
@@whatever3132 only problem is Haseo is a grade A twat for the majority of the game lol. He's often just thoroughly unlikeable. I get that it eventually details why which would be more apparent if you've watched //Roots, but still.
@@Grigeral lmao Haseo is only a dick in the first game and even then it's either not that often or very justified/has strong reason. People who say he's unlikable don't seem to understand that he is NOT friends to the people who push up to him and that he has actual trauma from seeing someone basically die in front of him, and the person responsible having just kicked his ass completely
.hack//ROOTS is a prequel to GU. Shows Haseo time in Ovan's guild. Ends off where the games start with Haseo going to thr cathedral to fight who he thinks is Tri-Edge. .Hack//SIGN is the prequel to the original four games. Showing Morgana Mode Gone's rise to power, the birth of the curse wave, and how she intended to trap Aura. It also shows Hasoe(then playing as Sora) being data drained by Skeith. This show really did spend its entire budget on the OST lol

Lol, almost the entire fight is happening off screen
None of the dot hack animes had good fight animations, lol
@@SSJ4BassI'm super glad you said that.

Haseo will forever be a badass in the games and anime
haseo is a better sasuke
haseo is the real sasuke
@@nessphoria777 haseo was Sasuke before he was cool.
Oh, Sora... Looked just like he did back in Dot Hack Sign.
If only Haseo remembered the events of R:1 after Reconnection...

Imagine if Haseo awaken Skeith during this time
Them PKs would've been slain in seconds, and have no idea how or why 😂

Great music. Crap animation
On god...

Crap animation? I think you mean no animation. Besides the spinning CGI gate the first 40 seconds have basically 0 frames of character animation.

Honestly one of if not my favorite game series growing up. G.U. Forever!
GU growing up.
I don't think any of Haseo's swings actually looked like they made impact and he mostly just stood still and postured. That was... weak.
Me and the boys in bad sport after taking out oppressor griefers
You play on ps4?
this shit is fucking fire im wacthing it every morning
PK server rolls up onto one dude, and forgot their manners!
Why is he hunching??
Haseo really built like a deviant art/tumblr oc 💀
Lol the animation is dog shit but the game is my favorite of all time.
Looking back on it .hack had kinda meh style in how it played out

What’s up with haseo’s eye?
haseo is the real sasuke
Funny since he was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in the games.
oh!
THERE'S A SHOW?!?!?
The anime takes place before the games. Most of the dot hack series have anime and games to pat up with except dot hack link.
