- De biografie van één van de grootste komieken van het witte doek wordt hier geschetst. Met als uitgangspunt de viering van de honderdste verjaardag van Stan Laurel in zijn geboortestadje Ulverston, Engeland in 1990 door de "Sons Of The Desert".
In 1912 trok Arthur Stanley Jefferson, als invaller voor Charles Chaplin, met de groep van Fred Karno naar Amerika. Na jaren van veaudeville komt hij, onder de naam Stan Laurel, terecht bij de jonge filmindustrie en in 1917 al heeft hij Oliver Hardy als filmpartner. Het zou nog tien jaar en ongeveer zeventig films duren voordat ze, via Hal Roach, als team wereldroem zouden oogsten. Laurel vertelt zelf een groot deel van zijn levensverhaal (met fragmenten uit net teruggevonden tapes), geïllustreerd door getuigenissen van o.a. Hal Roach, Jim Bacon, Lois Laurel Hawes (zijn dochter), Trudy Marshall en Eddie Quillan. Judy Patterson stond in voor de research met inbegrip van de filmfragmenten en zeldzame nieuws- en privé-opnamen. Het geheel werd gemonteerd door Bert Jordan. Nieuw beeldmateriaal werd geschoten door Elmer Cossey, Ken Lowe en Henry Braham. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

these 2 people have bought more joy in people lives with laughter rich or poor homes and will live forever threw there genuine natural funny ways they deserve a massive recognition because laughter is the key to a happy heart and they touch mine many many times and many to follow each time i watch a film god bless you both dont make the angels laugh to much x

I have all their films and must have seen them hundreds of times but like the guy said they were such beautiful people genuinely kind funny and genius with comedy you just have to spend time with them and feel that love, thank you both for a life time of laughter RIP both of you and your wives

Ik heb er altijd van genoten en nog steeds van hun films. Dat was en is nog steeds echte humor direct vanuit het hart. Niks nep of voorbereid maar echte humor van 2 mannen die met recht door dik en dun vrienden voor het leven waren. Het waren soulmates.
helaas is dat niet altijd zo geweest, want stan was al aardig beroemd voordat oliver in beeld kwam, en was stan een heel naar en vervelend mannetje
en heeft het lang geduurd voordat hij eindelijke besefte wat voor naar mannetje hij was en hij uiteindelijk oliver geaccepteerd heeft, en sindsdien is
er pas een hechte vriendschap ontstaan.
By far the best documentary on this pair of geniuses. The on[y real mistake is that Stan's idol was Dan Leno, not George Robey.

if ever a film paid homage in its own way to this illustrious pair. it has to be "MouseHunt" a 1997 American black comedy film directed by Gore Verbinski, written by Adam Rifkin and starring Nathan Lane and Lee Evans, great comedians imho.
this is taking the laurel and hardy style and giving it a new feel, of course they only had grey screen in screen projection back then and that didnt cut the shoe leather, that had to wait for green screen to work the cgi wonder. lol grey screen!!!

Indeed very much i laughed with these 2.. Whata supermovies they made for those days.. I hope there is a place called heaven, there they might be alive again.. So dont use this expression RIP too fast.. Have hope.. The Bible was written in the year 0 when there wasnt a pen and paper and the art of writing.. The Bible is kept many hundreds of years till it was about to be pressed by the printingpress was invented.. The Bible says 3 important things, that life is forever, that we go to heaven and that its the word of God.. I dont think anyone will dare write such in a Bible if the whole world believes in God before the year 1850 orso the whole world believed in God, science didnt come up with evolutiontheories AND they were smart enough to think passed by the evolutiontheorie thinking life isnt a coincidence at all.. Intelligence has built all.. God must exist and they were right, but till the year the Bible got pressed by a printingpress everyone believed in God and i dont believe that one of these highpriests with access to the Bible that the Vatican kept for 1800 years orso will just make up words as life is forever, we go to heaven and this is the word of God.. I think noone dares to just make that up so it must be Gods word.. Thats why i do believe that some parts of the Bible are word of God, no man would make that up.. Keep this a secret, silence is golden, see hear and dont speak, you may think about God, but you shouldnt speak about God.. Be a good human, dont anger God.. An athiest says God isnt true, but if he is smart he says i dunno if God exists, then God is 50% true and only one percent more 51% is a chance that is the smallest chance towards a whole of 100% says that God is true and thats only one percent, look if you dunno that God exist, then dont go make public that God dont exist, cuz they dont know this for sure then God is true for 50% It is very stupid to say God isnt true, then they say with other words, God is true for 0% and that is stupid, cuz for real they dunno if God exists and thats with a chance of 50% Believe in God means children that grow up with the believe that God exists and that He sees all that they wont go choose to go stealing, that is stupid to do when God sees all.. Raising children with believe in God is smart, they dont become criminals, no drugs and all that.. Be smart and believe in God..
