I remember when this brotha was on the cover of Bass magazine in a throwback jersey with the upright bass. That was the first time I even considered upright as an option. Definitely an inspiration

Enjoyed the interview my son is a musician who started out playing Jazz in the 7th grade. He plays several instruments but the Trumpet was his first. I forwarded this interview along to him. He like myself appreciates live instrumentation.

I love it when people say they don't like jazz when they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it. Im not saying its wrong or bad to not like jazz I get it. I just don't understand how you can hold such a blanket opinion on the most important and complex aspect of the black music continuum with only having a superficial understanding.

That Grammy shenanigans mess sounds about right. 🤨
The power of the vinyl is a real thing. Those inclined should research it. It sheds a lot of light on the cultural *de-evolutionary* aspect of the digital music technology era. #MelaninMetaphysics

Christian is a true trailblazer! I should have guessed that he's from Philly! Some of the greatest bassists in history are from Philly. Stanley Clarke, Alphonso Johnson, Victor Bailey, Jaco, Jimmy Garrison, and Jamaladeen Tecuma are in that group. He's one of the most accomplished, talented, and coolest people on the planet!!! There is sooooo much more to jazz than you're aware of. You're in good company though. Jazz isn't for everyone. Even though jazz is an American art form with strong African-American influences and lineage, it's more appreciated in other countries than it is in America.

Kinda disappointing for the host to know so little about the guest. Asking Christian McBride what instrument he plays is like interviewing Michael Jordan and not knowing he plays basketball.

You can be...but if you listened to the show you would know I'm not into jazz and I'm not going to pretend. But I was happy that Mr. McBride had a teaching heart. But you're right. This was a last-minute guest and I should have known that. My bad.

Karen try listening to XM's own watercolors channel 66, or listen to George Duke, that is funky jazz, that maybe more your style, I got started back in the day with a group called the Jazz Crusaders, Old Socks, New Shoes. My 2 Favorite artist are Joe Sample, and Rachelle Ferrell
