A lot of countries have a lot of things affiliated with freedom of speech, but you can’t say stuff like slurs because it’s illegal . In Germany it is illegal to deny the holocaust happened.

Many years ago regarding the political landscape i told a buddy of mine " We have become what we hated", because if you grew up in the 80s and 90s as a teenager and young adult, you grew you as a "leftie" without really knowing what that meant besides "leave us be" but the term left means a whole different world today, its nuts.
I'm with you. Most young people grow up with a 'leftie' bent. It is sympathetic, and we don't know much about history. As we age, it becomes harder to stand with rebels.

The right may have started it in the 1970s/80s, but the left has certainly weaponized words and terms too.
@@onepunch9203 Yes, censorship was around before the nineties especially. It would mainly be focused on pornography and films and popular music. It was the left (notably at Berkley in California) where there was the big free speech movement. The "right" form of censorship was about morality, but political correctness is about the accepted views being politically advantageous to those enforcing an "official truth."

In Iran, a 22 year old girl named #Mahsa_Amini died after being beaten by morality police of Iran because of improper hijab. In Iran, they've forced women to wear hijab in sake of their own policies for more than 40 years.
Now people are protesting to #Mahsa_Amini’s death and police is shooting innocent people in the streets, including a 10 years old innocent girl that got shot in the head and we've sadly lost her now, also #Kian_Derakhshan who lost his life after getting shot.
This isn’t over, #Amirhossein_Khademi, a 16 year old teenager was found dead after being raped by 3 men. POLICE DID NOTHING.
People are going out for rebellions now but the emotionless police are only shooting people instead of helping and protecting them in such a time.
The names just go on, it’s a list. hundreds and thousands of men and women are getting tortured, beaten, butchered in Iran, just because of fighting for their freedom. The first thing they do to suppress our voice is shutting down the internet, so please be our voice before it's too late.
Many people are putting their lives at risk here only to be heard and are fighting for their freedom, many have lost their lives already.
Enough is enough.
Please help us however you can.

Honestly cancel culture is just "technology advancing allowing people to voice their complain". Back then if you want to voice a complain, you need to go out and protest, or write it to some newspaper agency, which not everyone can do. But now you can just post it on twitter or record a YT video.

Religion is the sum of those beliefs, practices and prohibitions that pertain to a person's concept of the highest powers of the universe.
There was a time (most of history, for that matter) when theists disagreed with people who worshipped the universe or parts of it - the sun, the moon, the earth, rocks, trees, fire, animals - and found creative ways to coerce not only the pagans but other theists.
ANY beliefs and prohibitions that pertain to someone's concept of the universe constitute that person's religion. I haven't decided what to call the religion that now seems to be approaching majority status in the United States but its adherents seem to have carefully studied the way theists used coercion in the past and are now using those same tactics to try to force theists to comply with their prohibitions and to force theists to allow them to teach their concept of the universe (and humans' place in it) to the theists' children in the public schools.
They seem to have learned their lessons well but we should not forget to blame the theists with their theocratic tendencies for teaching people how to use coercion in the first place. Both sides in the "culture wars" deserve their share of culpability!

You said it yourself. Offend. It's offensive when comedians say hurtful things about others and call it a joke. It's offensive when comedians can't make a sentence without profanity. Cancel culture is a new Republican thing who say we're prevented from saying this or that but still do! Cancel culture is Republicans who want to ban books because they don't like them depriving others. Demanding civility is NOT cancel culture.

Regardless of where a person stands, if they aren't willing and able to maintain a minimum level of decency then they should not be allowed to pollute others publicly. And by that I mean on the radio and television.
That's why we have the FCC, and why we used to have the Hayes Code. Beyond that, if someone wants to fully express the filth in their heart then they should do so through paid services, which was one of the reasons that cable was created and took off in the first place!

Ehhh..trying to compare saying bigoted stuff to "Satanic" rock lyrics are two different things. Just so happens I've been going back and listening to the old Loveline shows since I used to listen as a kid.
