***⚠️⚠️Update In 2022 for this Bus to the border process. ⚠️⚠️ Same route and direction to the border but the new transit system is called PRONTO and it's actually just a one time purchase of $2 for the card and upload $5 for round trip ticket to and from the border. You can also download the Pronto App and use your phone which will give you a barcode to ride, saving the $2 card fee.

This is a great guide. I just got to Tijuana yesterday from San Diego airport. I was immediately able to spot the MTS machine, and knew exactly where to walk to find the blue line from watching this video.. Last time I went I spent around $60 for a taxi that I split with a friend. This takes a little longer since the blue line takes an hour from all the stops, but it did get me there for 8 bucks.

@@TravelmadicTV nowadays you'll need to save that $50. Mexican customs agents routinely extort $30 for an FMM card when you're entering Mexico on foot at San Ysidro. It's a visa-like card that used to be free if you were staying 7 days or less. Now they want $30. The same price as the FMM card for longer stays over a week. They claim it has something to do with Covid. But it obviously has something to do with Mexican corruption and scams.

Some things have changed since this video. I think you covered Pronto elsewhere in the comments, but the video at America Plaza shows signs on the northbound side for San Ysidro. Those are now only on the other side of those tracks (southbound), not in the place where it was shown. Those signs shown have been replaced by "To UTC" signs as the Blue line has since been extended north for 11 miles.

Wouldn't it make more sense to take an Uber ? I see it is between 20-30 bucks and yes it is more than this method but it's fast and direct and you don't have to spend all your time and change from train, subway, bus, trolley or whatever. We have to value our time and stress also. I wish they had a non stop shuttle from airport to border. I would Def be down with that . Thanks for making the video. Not everyone can afford the UBer so it is nice to have a less expensive alternative for those that don't mind taking the time. Great content and subscribing now!

Hi Milan! Thanks for the comment and watching the video. At the time of shooting this video, Lyft which I think is the only ride share service in Cali at the time was around the cost of 30-40. Now you make a great point about the value of time but some may have time to burn and decide to use the bus/trolley. However now it may be the best option for everyone at this time. Just in April to the boarder from the airport via Lyft was a crazy price of $80 bucks one way. ( Screenshot on my community page). Overall, just providing options but has been my most popular video for the past 1yr. 🤣 ****Also it's now $5 round-trip cost when using the new card/app called PRONTO****

It's about 12 stops once you get on the blue line. Here is another tip because I was just there in San Diego earlier this month. Only for this month (September) the new card system is allowing FREE rides. The new system is called PRONTO and you can get the card in the same location as the other machines. A round trip card only cost $5 and it's reloadable, so it's even a few dollars cheaper than before. They also have an Pronto App which gives you the free ride this month. (September 2021). Just show the bus driver your app outside when boarding the bus. Enjoy bro and save that Uber money 💰 for some 🌮 and 🍻🍺. Subscribe for more!

Also another tip if this is your first time carry a little cash to deal with the Mexican agents. Sometimes they like to extort money out of gringos. It's happen to me twice, they will make it seem as if you need to pay for a visa (6 mo) to cross the border. Definitely pay it ( $30) and you can use it another time with NO hassle at all. Like I said they are just trying to get some of that money off of you first before you blow it all in TJ. 😁

Thanks so much! Learning a lot before I go! I’ll be there in a couple weeks! I’m driving too San Diego and parking at a friends house, how would I go about getting on the trolley if I’m not flying? Thanks!

@s bright It was never closed for Americans. Mainly for Mexicans without a work visa entering the U.S. But you will need to watch out for the Mexican authorities. Ysidro mexican officials may ask you why you are traveling ( Randomly ) not every time. But what you want to tell them that you are going for dental work and don't say nothing else. Lol! Take a print out of the address if you just want to have it but not needed. The Mexican officials just want an excuse to say you need a 6 mo visa to enter. It's I believe $30 and they will sign it and just fold it up and stick it in your passport. No worries anytime after that crossing the border at any border crossing. Eat some tacos for me bro and Subscribe 💪🏿💪🏿

ABC Tijuana Line Terminal 👈🏼 You can actually walk there after you cross the boarder. It's that close. One way is like $12 bucks from what I remember. I may do a video on my experience as well riding the bus to ensenada.

Yes you can take the motor coach bus or the little commuter van I took in my fishing village video. I think the farthest the commuter van goes is to ensenada. Just google Tijuana bus station and it will give you all the info. Thanks for watching 💪🏿

One per person and there are special youth cards though on weekends they can ride for free. Youth riders can also get a special day pass that is half the price of the adult rate but their one way fare is the same. That will change once Pronto replaces compass which would allow an adult to have multiple cards on one account.

He didn't show the part where you line up and need to show your passport and fill out an FMM tourist card. They don't allow video taping inside the immigration station. And believe me, there's no shortage of police around. And the military.
