@Mark_McCann If you want a more realistic game you need to try BeamNG Drive , the físics on the gam are litery insane .
I have always enjoyed playing racing games but have never experienced a full blown simulator, it looks great you seemed to enjoy it.
Even just getting a simple wheel and pedals is amazing and loads of fun

I started rallying in real life after using the sim for a while. And it just helped me so much! I already knew more or less how the car would behave on a certain surface and how to make it do what i wanted it to do.

I absolutely love the content. Literally everything, from rallying to having fun, car shows etc. And i absolutely adore how your family is with you in everything. I love the way you put on your dancing shoes and fireproof socks just in case your feet get to burnt from the underfloor heating in the house 😂😂and the race fuel was a great idea😊

Hi mark love the content. Been a massive rally fan since I was a kid, dad and grandad rallied the escort mk2 back in the day. I would loveeeee a go in a rally car, used to race karts and did really well but money is king in motorsports unfortunately. Anyway just wanted to thank you for the awesome vids you are so lucky to experience what you have and hope you continue making these vids for the foreseeable future, all the best 🙌🙏
I learnt to drift on a sim and on my first irl drift day I was drifting the entire track within 2 laps. without that would've been multiple days learning
Cool concept man. Looks like it definitely warmed you up. Would be an interesting video if you could get a person that played a lot on simulators butnever drove a real rally car to see how they'd perform in a real car right away.

I think generally Rally and mixed-surface racing as a whole is the least well-suited to simulator adaptation because of how many more, different and extreme the variables can be compared to circuit racing which a computer can't account for as reliably.
This is something I have actually been wondering!

Without trying that simulator, I'd still believe it's feedback would be inadequate to relate to actually driving. This is just MY OPINION, so don't go nuts here. What a simulator can't do is subtle "tells" in inertial motion when the tires are going to go loose. This comes from a feeling in your hips or butt. It's almost an additional body sense if you're strapped in hard. High speed driving is about "feel" and sensing subtle inertial motions. You become a part of the car at some level.
You'll never feel a low tire in a simulator. Simulators don't do trail braking correctly.
Sure, some driving software gets close and is hella fun to play. I get that. But you'll never feel your stomach try to come out your nose quite like dropping down the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca.
I'll tell you what these roads are not far off what i have to go through every single day as I live out in the stick and night time there are no street lights so when I was new to the area there was a lot of brown trouser moments as I did not know the roads and the corners come up out of nowhere especially with the old headlights in the Audi 80.... ps that r5 is a mad little car im still amazed with the horsepower number you get out of a 1.6 Madness

Although CZcams made me skeptical about everything, as it would be very easy to do a slow lap first and a fast lap later and in the middle of them putting the “training” in the simulator.

I personally can say sim was a massive aid for my progress with driving, not only did it make me feel comfortable but you encounter so many scenarios and you can send it with no risk of putting yourself in a ditch and suffering consequences like irl because you thought you was billy big bollocks 😂
I built the sim simulator also for rally and f1 and i can say that you can learn a lot of them
They teach you loads and are super fun in the process

I know its a promo and all that but I've never met a pro rally driver from the last ~20 years or so who couldn't use a hydro handbrake.

WRC 23 is great but it feels like the cars have no Suspension. its so static.
Have you experimented with the suspension set-up?
Sims helps, but you would get same results if you just do yhe same amount of laps in real car without sim
